No looks like they upgraded Costa's yellow to a red for violent conduct and Rosales got a red because he got a 2nd yellow.
Ugh. That red card to Cabral killed the game. I have nothing else to say, except remove Costa from the premises. Oh - and I liked Aguirre in total for the whole game.
I don’t know about that. Ibra sent “messages” to gain a competitive advantage and sent bodies flying in the heat of battle, sometimes pushing the boundaries of clean play. But a post-game blindside, cheap-shot elbow to the head? I don’t remember him going that low.
counterpoint, Zlatan also did a heck of a lot more in one game than Costa has done all season I don't mind having a thug or two on the team but it would be nice if the thug actually contributed something to the team, other then just collecting a paycheck and putting your team in a bind
Messages or Thuggery. The people catching the elbows, kicks and punches would argue that the timing (be it pregame, post-game or in-game) is irrelevant and would just prefer not to get into a hand throwing situation whatsoever. I can't argue with that. I'm am not anti sending other players "messages" but you better make the drama that will follow worth it by your overall performance. Costa's 2 goals and 0 assists out of 784 minutes in 12 games as a DP is not good. DeJan with 5 goals 2 assists out of 284 minutes in 13 games is proof of how little we are getting out of our superstar player.(I won't even post Cabral's crap stats.) Uncalled for Red Cards help nobody when that is your stat line. And this is after him having what I thought was a solid showing in this game too. Very disappointing.
Vanney Post Game Interview I repeat I would have been fined for calling the officials idiots or would have gotten kicked out of the game for going nuts on the sideline. You are better than me Vanney lol.
Finally saw the Cabral "vicious kick to the head" video and while I'm no fan of Cabral, that is one of the worst red-card calls I have ever seen.
and according to Joe on the broadcast, it was upheld by VAR, so who know what they were looking at, not an ideal situation all around
According to what was said on the presser Vanney was told by the officials that it is a mandate from high above that any contact to the head is instant red. Var had not choice if that is true and neither did Unkle. I am ok with it in principle but you have to leave some room for interpretation especially when you are watching the guy try and jump out the way on all the replays. Then, as Greg pointed out, what the hell is the use of VAR good for? Having said that the slide downward continues and the red card does not explain how we seem to no have a clue on the field most every time. It took them getting pissed off to start laying with heart and speed and make something happen. That is something Greg hardly addresses but for the -- yeah, we somehow get there but we can't get t in the net BS. You gotta do better than that Van.
In 7 of our last 10, going back to the start of May, we've conceded the first goal. In 4 of those (including the last 2) we've conceded in the first 15 minutes. We even conceded first in the Open Cup match against Cal United. It really is starting to feel like the Schelotto / Sigi years again; after starting so well, the defense is just piss poor, even against some pretty weak teams.
After this game.....I am no longer impressed by Sacramento Republic. But LAG is ahead of last year. We are starting our second half collapse earlier this season.
I watched the replay and the only incident I saw between Rosales and Costa was when Costa was dribbling with the ball and Rosales grabbed him around the neck and took a professional foul to stop the play. That’s where Rosales got the first yellow. If that was the only incident, Costa’s payback was too much. I don’t know if words were said. Either way, it was too much by Costa.
I disagree, Sacramento scored all three goals, the galaxy didnt even sniff a goal and Sacramento did it 11v11 and not 11v10, however I do agree with your second point
Btw we were outscored 1-0 playing with 10 players plus Cabral and we tied 2-2 playing with just the 10. Just sayin’.
Costa. !@#$ that guy. Plays for the first time in weeks and manages to get himself suspended in 25 minutes. I'm aghast. BTW, Sebastian Lletget has more G+A than both Cabral and Costa this season.
