Clearly just another event for the cool kids only.

The Crew really needs to stop doing that.

I have no issues with those paying premium seating getting this and no need to advertise it. Assuming media, and Nordecke leadership are also invited, no worries. We are not all equal.

I was invited to the first one that was postponed. I would assume they went off the list of people that RSVP’d to that one.

    I declined the first.

This event was designated as a Nordecke Members only event and was originally scheduled for Monday at the airport, with ~130 people RSVP'ing. Then with the immigration delays it got pushed back - twice - and moved to the Tipico Beer Garden. Less than 130 people arrived.

But the event in the Huntington Club beforehand was very well attended and Cucho was given a most resounding welcome. He appeared to enjoy himself and seemed very comfortable meeting and greeting fans. Kid's got a great personality.

Hearing the first intro this evening was exclusive to Latino supporters groups, which I am fine with.

This is correct. There wasn't a single word of English spoken.

OK, I have been AWOL on this thread for 42 pages or so, but last night's win got me enough juice to try and do an update. I only read through the first 10-15 pages or so. If I am stepping on toes, yell at me.

Again, salary info for Chuco and JRR are not there yet. And as I have been lazy/not posting roster moves has they happen, there are likely to be a lot of misses/mistakes early on. Yell at me to let me know what they are.

Yes, I am still aware that MLS has a roster page. And it is getting better. It also has some weird stuff that can't be right, like 5 guys listed in slots 21-24, and a host of what I think are International Guys not listed as Internationals (Igbekeme, Diaz, Moreira, Santos). The Crew's page is similar, with Molino on the season-ending injury list, and Santos as a DP. What a mess.

I still have questions, but just want to get something down I (we) can work off of. Apologies for being AWOL for so long. After a perusal, I have some questions.

    1. What is up with Kitchen. He isn't on the injury list, but is never on the active roster. Is he injured reserve/season ending already? Angking is listed as a roster guy, and I thought that was just a loan earlier on. But he would give us 31 guys. Am I missing a loan somewhere?

    2. We seem to have a glut of international spots. By my count, we have 8 spots (no additional ones acquired), and have 10 guys who are/were internationals: Chuco, Zelarayan, Room, Degenek, Yeboah, and Matan are all recognized as internationals on the MLS/Crew site. Santos, Diaz, Moreira, and Igebekeme are not. That is 10. We need 2 of those guys to have Green Cards. Santos was rumored to be close pre-season. But still need one more. Moreira was playing in France and had no reason to have one. Ditto Igbekeme in Spain. I assumed Pedro has gotten his.

    3. Yeboah is listed as a U22 guy. He is 25. Was 24 when he got here. Someone make sense of that for me.

I think I have a good handle or a good guess on the rest. Here goes.

    15. Kitchen, DM, 30, 2/29/92, 6'0", 160, USA, $300k/$326,667
    16. Williams, D, 34, 4/18/88, 6'2", 185, USA: $325k/$325k
    17. Hairston, D/M, 28, 3/23/94, 6'0", 157, USA, $175k/$175k.
    18. Anibaba, CB, 33, 10/9/88, 6'0", 175, USA, $150k/$150k. Th '22, O '23.
    ---------------------------
    19. Hurtado, F/W, 31, 11/15/90, 5'10", 174, USA, $84k/$84k. ('23 O).
    20. Bush, GK, 36, 3/6/86, 6'1", 187, USA, $84k/$84k, (thru '22, '23 opt).
    -----------------------
MLS/Crew.com both list Scott and not Bush as a Senior Roster player. Both guys and Hurtado are senior min players ($84k) and any could be either Senior or Supplemental 21-24. I went with the 2 guys who play more/make the 18 more.
    --------------------

    II. Supplemental Roster (21-30)

Do not count towards salary cap. Max of 10 players, subject to Season Ending Injured List, Injured List, and Loan Exceptions. All Generation adidas players are Supplemental for their initial contract.

    A. Spots 21-24. (Supplemental). 4 of 4.

Must earn at least the Senior Min salary of $84,000. Can be: a) Senior Min players, b) Generation Adidas players, c) designated Super dtaft eligible players, or d) HGs/HGs earning more than the Sen Min subject to HG Player Subsidy (up to $125 k more than Senior Min salary of $84k).

    21. Berry, F, 24, 9/16/97, 6'3", 180, USA/Spain, SDE, $120k/$120k.
    22. Schulte, GK, 21, 3/13/01, 6'5", 200, USA, GA, $84k/$96,431
    23. Scott, GK, 23, 6/30/99, 6'2", 174, USA, $84k/$84k. Th '22, O '23, '24.
    24. Etienne Jr, M, 25, 11/25/96, 5'10", 160, Haiti/USA, HG, $175k/$175k.
    -----------------------
Hurtado & Bush could be candidates for the Supplemental Roster instead of Scott. All three make the Senior Minimum of $84k. Berry & Schulte are both Super draft eligible guys and thus are Supplemental eligible. Schulte is also GA. It makes no sense for them, or any of the HGs, to take a Senior spot.

The rest of the roster is all HGs (though J. Morris is not listed as one), so any of them could be on any of the Supplemental Rosters. Except that Etienne is too old to be 25-28 or lower. He was born in '96. 25-28 guys have to be 24 or younger at some point of the league year (2022). He's been 25 all year and turns 26 later. Of all the HGs, he has to be the 21-24 guy, no age limit.

IDK what JRR makes, but he counts as a domestic player, like Fraser, via HG rule. MLS/Crew list him as a 21-24 guy, but I think this is wrong, as stated above. Why? He counts as domestic via the Homegrown rule for Canadian players.
    -----------------------------

    B. Slots 25-28. (Reserve). 4 of 4.

Must make at least the Reserve Min salary of $65,500. Can be: a) Reserve Min Players (24 or younger during league year), b) Homegrown Players earning more than Reserve Min subject to HG Player subsidy, or C) GA players earning the Res Min Salary.

    25. A. Morris, M, 20, 11/16/01, 5'10", 158, USA, HG, $170k/$172k.
    26. Russell-Rowe, CF, 19, 9/13/02, 6'0", 161, Canada, HG, $???. Thr '24, O '25 & '26.
    27. Sands, D/M, 21, 7/6/00, 5'10",150, USA, HG, $84k/$90,250. Th '22. O '23 & '24.
    30. J. Morris, D/M, 23, 3/3/99, 6'1/", 161, USA, HG, $65,500/$65,500. Th '23, O '24, '25.
    ------------------------
Again, HG's could be anywhere, but Etienne is too old to be 25-28. And if MLS/Crew are correct that J. Morris is NOT a HG, he has to be 25-28 due to his salary/non-HG status.
    ----------------------------------

    C. Slots 29-30. (Homegrown Reserve).

Must be filled with HGs earning the Reserve Min salary or HGs earning more than the Reserve Min ($65,500) subject to HG Player Subsidy.

    29. Zawadzki, M, 22, 4/21/00, 6'0", 160, USA, HG, $84k/$89k. Th '23/O '24, '25.
    30. Parente, M, 21, 3/16/00, 5'9", USA, HG, $66,724/$70,724.

    -------------------------------

    V. Designated Players: 3 of 3.

    Max Budget = $612,500. Secondary Window = $306,250. Young DP 21-21 = $200,000. 20 & under = $150k. Sec Window = $150k.

    Chuco, Zelarayan, Nagbe.

Max Budget Charge = $622,500 (DP). Can be bought down with TAM if under $1.6125 mil. No mention of GAM buy down-ceiling. Charge if joins after 2nd window opens = $312,250.

Young DP Budget Charge (23 or under) = $200,000. If 20 or under: $150,000.
    ---------------------------

    VI. U22 Initiative Players (1 of 3)

    Matan.

You get 3 slots if 3rd DP unused or is under TAM buy-down threshold. Player can continue to occupy a U22 slot until age 25 as long as on 1st contract.

MLS has Yeboah incorrectly here, as he is 24. Or at least I think it is incorrect.
    -------------------

VII. Green Card Holders = 3
Mensah, de Lima (Artur), Molino. (Santos + 1?)

Santos rumored to get his soon. There has to be 2 more, as we have 9 guys who are/were internationals, and Chuco is coming on top of that.
    --------

IX. International Roster Spots: 10 of 8.

Chuco, Zelarayan, Santos, Room, Moreira, Degenek, Yeboah, Diaz, Matan, Igbekeme.

MLS not currently counting Santos, Diaz, Moreira, or Igbekeme.
    ------------

    X. HomeGrowns: 7.

    A. Morris, Etienne Jr., Parente, Zawadzki, J. Morris, Sands.
    ----------------
MLS/Crew do not list J. Morris as a HG, but it was reported he acquired his HG rights when he signed. Russell-Rowe is also a HG, and thus counts as a domestic player, even though he is from Canada.

    XI. Crew 2
    1. Aidan Wolf, AM, Crew Academy, USA.
    2. Michael Vang, M, 21, 5/13/00, 5'8", USA (Forward Madison).
    3. Isaac Angking, DM, 22, 1/24/00, 5'10", Puerto Rico/USA (NER, Hartford Athletic, Charlotte Independence, US U17, US U20, PR NT).
    4. Jay Tee Kamara, M, 19, 5/10/02, 5'3", Sierra Leone (Louisville City, North Carolina FC).
    5. Noah Fuson, F, 22, 12/31/99, 6'1", USA (Forward Madison).

Any corrections welcome. I will fill out Crew2 later.

ROSTER ISSUES : pretty much all Defense
GK, LB & CB + Winger

Room- Seems we may keep Room for awhile but i still think he is overpaid and we could use a better younger keeper. Saw Steffen was loaned out very disappointing no rumors that we even made a attempt to get him on loan

Bush is the Back up so two older goalies ? Just doesn’t make sense

Molino - why didn’t we cut him as soon as he was healthy ? I’m guessing we eat his salary and cap number and if so i see why our only move this year is too hope he contributes

Nagbe- love the guy sure hope he would take a pay cut to stay here next year

Mensah - hopefully he still has a few years left but man we need a young CB all our guys are older and with injuries and congested mls schedule

Williams/ Anibabba we can’t find a younger back up ?

Pedro- Sands has suprised but still seems we need another Lb. Hope we keep signing Pedro to one year deals i like his versatility

Winger: we definitely need to identify who to keep and who to move on from. Our next DP needs to be a winger or attacking player to go with Zelarayán & Hernandez

I forget which podcast I was listening to last week but they mentioned that you need to take the MLSPA salary numbers with a grain of salt. They specifically pointed out Room's salary as having incentives built in and the number you see isn't what he's bringing home guaranteed.

Very interesting so a base salary with incentives that like the nfl the cap number assumes you will hit although the number may end up being lower if you don’t ?

    Room - 800k/$883k

this tells me his base guaranteed is 800k
His max with incentive is 883k

or am I missing something? TrueCrew can you explain this ?

    I love this kinda stuff

No way we were every going to bring Zack in on loan while paying Room 800K+. Just isn't going to happen. We are stuck with him for a while. He is worth about half of that, but it is what it is at this point.

Dude, Steffen does not want to be in MLS. He's not coming back. He's never coming back. Stop.

We have two young, promising goalies in the fold. Both Schulte and Scott have looked solid in MLS Next Pro. Either could be the answer when we move on from Room. Let's see how they develop before wasting more money on a goalkeeper.

Again i didn’t say pull the trigger i said inquire about it

A good GM leaves no stone unturned and the fans even hearing a possibility of it lets Room know he needs to do better . Highest paid GK or not your replaceable
