Are the state cups watered down? Do clubs choose other tournaments instead? Don't understand how so few teams involved in it?

LOL... They are all probably playing in Club v Club. Or E64. Or maybe the Premiership. Or maybe a Regional League... USYS shooting itself in the foot again?

Naw they are all out at the Watermelon Tourney in Rockford. It's an ECNL tourney now but still with free chunks of watermellon for the kiddos.

    :D

I don't get it either. For my kids she group, 09, there are 8 teams participating in a state cup. It's laughable.

At least those 09 girls all had good competition. Id say for the most part the teams were pretty even.

New coach - new club. Kid was bending over doing one of those fake tie your shoes deal in which they are really just gassed and gasping for breath. New coach yells "Hey ****** I know your faking it because your gased so get up and play already!" She laughs and says "shit" because she knew she got caught.

Just wanted a coach to light a fire and say some good things when called for. So far so good.

Plus - a few coaches high fived her and said "So your the ****** ****** I've heard about!"

Kids happy - all I can ask for.

I heard an interesting rumor the other day... I don't know if it's true, and on the surface it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. I figure I'd throw it out there and see if any of you knows anything about it.

Rumor is that Galaxy and Inter are forming some kind of partnership/merger.

Like I said.. It doesn't seem to make much sense to me. Especially for Inter. Seems like they'd get swallowed up in a deal like that.

It would be a big powerhouse but I don't see either leaderships sharing power so perhaps it's Galaxy teams allowing players to play on ECRL teams?

Reminds me of Team Chicago and Eclipse... How'd that work out?

Hennelly out as DOC at FCU, Eric Luzzi in. Hope he knows being DoC at FCU is same as being a siding salesman.

Worked out just like all the other eclipse relationship. Club jumps at opportunity to provide a “pathway” for their players to compete at the highest level. Then two years later after the eclipse has taken all the best players and coaches the relationship ends and they move to the next “partner”.
Inter and Galaxy makes no sense since both are in the Elite 64 for USYS. It is probably slightly stronger than the ECNL-R

In addition to Sockers, FCU GA teams are having good success in California and the Eclipse ECNL teams have a strong showing in WA. Chicago girls soccer is looking pretty good.

Inter parent here returning from a week at regionals. Not one word about this rumor. But I’m usually out of the loop, lol. I don’t understand how that would benefit Galaxy. Galaxy is a super club. Why would they need a merger?
Inter 06 girls regional champs, along with Central Illinois Eclipse 07’s. I was talking to a CI mom and she was telling me how they are dumping Eclipse and joining GA. Should be interesting on how they do. Just goes to show that these mergers usually do not pan out.

i think it favors Galaxy and Inter. Combining top players to create dominate teams to win in Ecnl-regional should give them a good chance of getting the full Ecnl membership if the organization isn’t still shamelessly protecting eclipse.

In several age groups Inter or Galaxy will be favorites to win ECNL R so no need to merge nor either club. Both will make strong cases for full ECNL

But what about resources (indoor facilities and so on)?

Inter has a nice setup for its outdoor fields. Galaxy used to be at the polo grounds which was a great complex but I thought that might be going away. Indoor for both seems to be a crapshoot so I don’t think either would greatly benefit from a facilities standpoint and it is not like they are geographically close.

Imagine lots of moves with new ECNL and ECRL badges at multiple locations.

    ECNL
    Eclpise SC - Arlignton Heights
    Eclpise North - Arlignton Heights
    Rockfor Raptors - Rockford

    ECRL
    Eclipse Select Central - Normal
    Eclpise SC - Arlignton Heights
    Rockford Raptors - Rockford
    Evolution
    FC 1974
    Chicago Inter FC

    Special Sauce Deals
Campton United - Have a deal to bump up players to Rockford Raptors
FCX (Barrington) - Have a deal to bump up players to Rockford Raptors

Question for the Special Sauce Deals - will kids joining ECNL/ECRL teams by treated like PT players vs FT players - sort of like what the GDA used to do?

    Who am I missing?

Who loses and who wins in this jumble - likely the biggest change in youth soccer on the girls side ever!

I know parents at CSA is adversly impacted on the girls 2005 side with players going to Raptors.

New name, I believe (Central Illinois United, which this year was boys only).

Related, is ECRL the same thing as the Girls Academy? I have no dog in this hunt (sons only) but have some friends who do.

Nope. GA is a separate organization competing with ECNL at the top of the girls soccer pyramid. ECRL is a notch below

Thanks. When the club announced this they said the girls would be part of the girls GA, as well (or some of the girls teams? not sure). FWIW ...

Watched a Crystal Lake Force vs Chicago Rush Super Y game yesterday and witnessed one of the worst parents I've seen in 20 years!

One of the CR parents would not shut up all game. He was coaching from the sideline for every kid - even CR parents were getting annoyed. The CR parents next to us were laughing at him with us because we were all making jokes (quietly).

All was just annoying until he yelled at a girl on the same team slow because she was fat. The girls mom who heard it and who had already told (not asked) him to stop coaching her daughter ran up and started into him. The moron just laid out excuse after excuse. Bullshit like "I only say that because I care" and "I'm thinking about the team".

At this point a few of us wanted to address the matter but 2 parents decided to approach the coach after the game and mention the issue. Apparently he was either shocked or really didn't care - they could not tell.

But boy, I have never seen that before!
