That is a very good point. It doesn't have to be a Tuesday...

In reality the tournament organisers know exactly the difficulties that come with what they’re doing. They just also know people will buy the product they’re selling regardless.

The people that turn around and don’t come will just be filled with someone who’s willing to take a risk/pay extra. The house never loses.

I'm fine with bashing FIFA, but what exactly have they done wrong here?

FIFA have said nothing on their official channels about when the FCFS would be except that they have said it is coming. Those of us on this thread probably represent the most compulsive of the fans who are waiting and we have scraped various dates from various association documents and other things sometimes in languages many of us don't speak and which are not official from FIFA. But by and large they have said that it's coming and that they will tell us when.

They have run a shit tournament in other respects, but I'm really not faulting them here. If they needed extra time to deal with some of the payment issues or whatever, so be it. The tournament is five months away.

We scraped it from their own ticketing website where it says...
'During the First Come First Served sales period starting today at 11:00 CEST / 12:00 (midday) Doha time, all tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Football fans are advised to purchase their desired tickets (subject to availability) as soon as the sales period opens, on 28 June 2022 at 11:00 CEST / 12:00 (midday) Doha time.'

Thats clearly then going to generate questions why the same isn't reflected on fifa.com/tickets with 4 days until 28th June

    You mean the THEFT.

The good thing about it being pointed out on here is that I know exactly when to get OUT of AD to go to Doha. Will bring it forward to the Friday as the GP will knock up the AD hotel prices.

I don't want to get in position where I'm defending a crap organization like FIFA so I'll start by saying, screw them!

And yeah some of this has been a clown show. And I understand people being frustrated that you seem to have to check once or twice a day to make sure you don't miss it, but, jeez -- it's getting to be too much for me. I'll just go back to lurking and whatever. But pretty much every big event I've dealt with has had exactly these sorts of issues. The main page says to check back regularly and I'm sure we'll all get email with a bit of advance notice when they are ready to sell.

when i found out that hyatt had award hotel rooms for like 8000 points, jumped on that instantly. I know nothing about F1 but we were hoping to recoup the price of our tickets that were $600 a piece by selling the friday and saturday race days. Looking at viagogo we could potentiall get like half our money back.

Exactly, the daylight robbery. Ya that result scarred me for life. How do u have energy to return to the scene of crime. Lol. Good discussion though on the other logistics. Hope you don't get delayed heading to Doha. Enjoy the race and spare a thought for LH44 and his legion :).

This is the Western Press now. Everything is politically motivated by their ideology and identity politics: race, gender etc... They are very progressive and despise anything that even remotely resembles a conservative perspective. Just remember that 3 out 4 people don't support their agendas. Anyway, don't sweat it because it will only get worse as the tournament approaches. Here in Canada, on the opening day of the World Cup, our CBC will briefly mention who's playing and then they will move onto all of their ideological talking points against Qatar and FIFA.

There is something i heard about ticket release and the link with accomodation.
I heard the speech of the head of legacy in Qatar. What I understood is they are trying to release tickets alingside with accomodation.
They want probably to avoid that a ticket buyer goes to the portal and cant find an accomodation.
They might release lot of tickets in sept etc, im just assuming

September! So the hold up is accommodation? They must think we all have private jets like they do and we can simply ask our pilot to drop us off in Doha in November.

I have been to the AD GP before. I will stay in AD on the Thursday night, then go to Dubai for the Friday night, getting away from the hassle, then fly to Doha on the Saturday. Dubai hotels wont be as inflated for the Friday.

BTW - if you are going through UAE before you get to Doha, the Emirates Palace hotel is THE BEST. And Saadiyat Beach Club is a good place to hang about for a day before heading to the flight Doha.

Does anyone know if Qatar has similar beach clubs to chill in?

Does that make any sense at all? We have had the accommodation issue since the first phase.

I'm starting to get a tad worried about accommodation. I'm strongly thinking of using up my free nights at Caesars Dubai and fly into game days and back. I'd rather be in Qatar as host country but Caesars Dubai seems like a great resort

I guess that June 28 is possible, but now it would need to be with only 24 hours notice. I do not recall FIFA ever doing that before. The last FCFS with 2 days notice is the shortest that I can recall, and that was because they were up against the deadline for the draw. Usually, they would give at least one week's notice.

lol I can see this happening. They don't want to release accommodations until they are certain to be available, and now they don't want to release tickets for which there may not be enough accommodations. As I said before, these sorts of folks really don't understand how difficult planning this visit is for the average person: time off work, family agreement, flights, tickets, accommodations, COST (and if you believe our media, the concern about not being able to copulate with the same sex in the middle of the street for fear of arrest).

I am just trying to connect things together.
It makes sense they release only half of the 800k remaining tickets..otherwise of all these new fans try to look for accomodation from now, they might not find and it will make noise in the press.
I feel they can release half of the quantity and the rest 2 months ahead of the world cup when much more accomodation will be released

The press can access the portal to see how barren it is, they dont need to wait for fan complaint.

Weird part is no one announces anything, even if they say check every month on thursday or monday and thursday weekly would help fans. And the dates they released things look odd to me... fan cabin was available at the end of the lotto application, why not just hold that and the cheaper hotels (released midway thru the payment) until now so people who paid can book.

mazinio literally has reassured more fans of availability than the accommodations department

    Thanks for that.

So, it was that somebody forgot to edit it. Here is what it says now:

"A general public sales window will be open from 5th July until 16th August."

I still wonder why FIFA has not officially announced it yet. They obviously communicated it to the Wales FA, and probably all of the others already.
