Other than the amazing PK defense, thought Roger was rather poor. Can his yellow be rescinded since the VAR was successful?
Wow, Zusi actually hit a shot that didn’t end up in the upper mezzanine seats. Nice goal that silenced the crowd. Duke had a great game going until the horrible giveaway. I’m glad it didn’t cost the team the win. He and Felipe were bosses in the midfield. A win on the road. Awesome.
I usually really dislike listening to Warren Barton on calls, but he was spot on today, we can't let the mistake (and it was a BIG mistake) overshadow what was a very good performance from Duke today. As for Zusi, he just loves that general spot on the field. That's the same general area he scored against Vancouver in the playoffs last year (though that was with his right, this was with his left).
I guess the best part of the game was Roger delaying the PK with his antics until the VAR ref could stop the play with a review call. Hilarious.
It's hilarious and speaks poorly of PRO that they allowed it to get that far. I hope PRO discuss it in their review this week.
I was thinking from the beginning of this game, this is the benefit a long, enforced, layoff, with a solid 90 to build himself back into shape, does for Zusi. I thought it was his best game of the year, and I was thinking that before the goal went in. He had a spring in his step that has been missing this season. It didn't last through the 99th minute. I thought he looked done by the mid 80s, but I do think that's why we were calling for him to play, max, 10 to 15 games. We can get a wee bit of vintage Zusi, or a lot of dead-leg Zusi. I'd prefer to occassionally see him look good. Man, Shelton... He did some nice stuff out there. His work ethic was good. He tracked back well. But as a 9? There were a couple points at which he'd put himself in good spots, got the ball and you could see the lack of confidence radiating off him. I was left thinking not so much "I'm not sure if he can score in that spot" as "Wow, he clearly knows he cannot do any damage from that spot." Duke's poor pass for the Nashville goal was probably needed to put an otherwise excellent game into relief. "Oh, yeah, this is the sort of thing a bad player might have been giving us all game" kind of thing. Until that moment, he was close to man of the match level, though that was probably Zusi, or maybe hernandez. Hernandez was really good, all night long. Also, JFR looked prime JFR, IMO. He'd lost the bounce in his step lately, but it was back. Overall, the stats say Nashville probably outplayed us. Our two goals were each 3 percent chances that went in. Theirs was a 63 percent chance that went in. They doubled our score on xG. but I hate xG. I think it misses so much of the game state as to be useless, at least in a single game
