I've been hearing a lot of positives for this! Hope it happens, though it also will still be way out of my price range.

I'm going to be there no matter what it takes. I went to Germany-South Korea in Dallas in 94. I may buy tickets to every game KC hosts.

It’s a 17 hour drive to KC for me, but I think it will be worth it. I’m in. Gas prices should only be $15 a gallon by then.

I looked over the line up of all the stadiums. A lot of them are turf fields with Vancouver being the absolute worst. My assumption is that the turf will have to be covered by natural grass. Well, they have 4 years to figure out how to produce a temporary grass surface that will stand up to that many WC games.

when kc first launched their bid however many years ago that was, i put it at around a 10-15% chance. i just figured we had too many limitations, given our size. chicago and minny dropping out, though, really boosted our chances. full credit to the committee in the end as they did enough to beat out cities like denver and nashville. pretty damn cool that the world cup is going to have games in kansas city. incredible.

it does kinda feel like we're gonna be the manaus of the world cup. that one location that's kind of a token project by fifa, far away from all the other cities, and brutal conditions. i don't care, though.

now i have a number of years to debate with myself if i can bring myself to pay the outrageous prices you know they're gonna be charging for the once in a lifetime experience. the notion of it flies in the face of everything i stand by, but .... still...

I guess we are just built different because since 4:30 yesterday I've just been wandering around trying to find someone with a FIFA hat on and be like...

Totally agree. Even if FIFA give KC New Zeland vs N Korea, I'm still going. That said, I'm hopeful Italy can qualify and my dad lives to see 80 so we can go see them together

4 group stage games, a round of 16 game, AND a quarterfinal for KC, dream scenario.

That's amazing. Only thing better would be for me to get this new job so I will be able to maybe afford a ticket.

Athletic says KC gets a round of 32 game and a quarterfinal, not a round of 16.

Yep, my bad, thinking of normal World Cups not the new expanded one. Still a quarterfinal is the big news.

Honestly, this is amazing and better than we could have dreamed for. Heck, Toronto got less.

We are only about 20 years from being a Lamar Hunt decision from not having soccer in KC. Never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that KC would host WC group matches and elimination matches thorough the quarterfinals,

Yeah. it's more like that than the other thing. I applied for tickets to this summer's Euros. I said, for some stupid reason, that I was okay with up to 250 euro per ticket on the mandatory groups of 4. My "application was unsuccessful." My sisters worked, but she's from the states. I'm a local, so not nearly as interesting and weighted in that manner.
UEFA, and FIFA, want folks who will spend a lot on hotels and meals out and etc. Locals are useful if they fill the fan zone.
