He really does the same things against everyone, but the difference is that against better teams like Uruguay the space is closed down in the center of the field by their knowledge and execution of defensive shape. Only players like Messi will make a Uruguay look like LDLT v. Grenada, but even then it is almost always only for short periods of time leading to decisive moments. LDLT is great at controlling the ball, progressing it, and distributing it. Watching his trajectory and seeing where he is with his club contract, I am expecting him to have a “break-out” World Cup. Everything he is doing to this point indicates that he has the motivation and mentality to go from his current club to a nice first division club in Spain or another league where he can get by as a smaller player.
In general when he is on the field the whole team has more chances. A very high IQ player that is very atypical for our soccer. Not big or strong, not superfast, not a great dribbler. Just quick and smart. Those players aren't usually progressing far on our youth teams. Fortunately everyone knows who his father is. Especially in Dallas.
he doesn't do the same things thats the point its important to remember how bad the competition was the us played a lineup with a lot of backups and still had the best 11 players on the pitch that additional time allows him to have the time and space he needs to finish. he won't ever have that against much better competition. all you need to know about him is that across europe teams are overpaying for goal scorers as they have for years and not a single team has made a call about him. he is tearing mls up and we know teams are looking at mls players and especially americans to cash in on some jersey sales. ...not a single team.
