I have a feeling Frattesi is going to be one of those signings that Mou didn’t ask for, and will eventually be benched by a random primavera player. But hopefully I’m wrong.

We're not signing a player without Mourinho's approval.

I agree. He will be expensive if reports are to be believed....30m asking with a 30% discount is still high if he is going to be benched. I think Mou will have to approve as that is probably a significant % of the budget.

These aren’t the Pallota/Mongo/Di Francesco days anymore, nothing to fear.

Agree with others that absolutely no moves are happening without Mourinho's stamp of approval.

However, I've read 1000 times here that our issue this past season was not having a true defensive midfielder and that was our problem in every match from Inter to bottom of the table Genoa...

It makes me eager to see the rest of the summer moves if so much will be spent on Frattesi before finding the mid that's going to move Cristante out of the DM role (if Mourinho actually does agree with most of fans here in that regard).

Matic seems like a great signing but to pencil him in for more than 1/2 of the matches seems unrealistic.

If the forum is correct in pinpointing Cristante as the issue at DM and Jose still wants to keep/renew him then Cristante and Frattesi are pretty much the Veretout/Oliviera replacements.

I'm on the fence from the times I've watched Frattesi about his "difference making quality" for that price tag but admittedly didn't see Sassoulo a lot.

Still seems a real DM in his prime is where we'll need to bridge the gap between Roma and the top 4 and I hope there's a lot of money for that splash signing.

Frattesi is a good option for box-to-box if he's bought for a reasonable sum.

I see him as raw, still has to learn to adapt to big games and evolve in his playing style. What he offers right now though is a lot of athleticism, a player who isn't afraid to break between the lines on the dribble, who is strong in tracking back, and one who definitely isn't afraid to burst forward and shoot (he has a nice shot) on goal.

Can he learn how to play zone in Mourinho's two when bunkering down in defense? Why not. He seems to have decent football IQ.

do we really need Celik if we can just bring back Florenzi? we can rotate him between wingback, winger, and center mid

This team is too good for the likes of Florenzi.

But at least we've had football giants like Moronchi, Di Francesco, the other bald DS f*ck, Flopseca and every other blamed football genious take a nice big dump on Trigoria while getting paid mid 7 figures for the pleasure.

The problem with Florenzi is his salary, he’d be making over 3 net a year to be a backup.

Ok wait, this would be a great signing. Would fill Micki’s void. Not sure this means we’d miss out on Frattesi, think they’d both be filling voids

    Micki —> Aouar
    Veretout —> Frattesi
    Oliveira —> Matic
