I thought Asensio would try to go to a team where he could play as an AM or SS. Somewhere where he would actually excel.

Because our club is not in shambles. They needed to be in an absolute institutional, financial and reputational mess to even entertain promoting these players. On the other hand, we won the double, have a good squad and are in the process of transitioning to the next great squad. Let's be realistic.

I suspect it's an unpopular opinion, but I'd call Dembele's agent and see what the rumored offers from Chelsea/PSG are. He has his baggage, but I thought I was Barca's best player for much of last year even as they squabbled and tried to force him to renew. Given the strong leadership at our club now, I think he would be an acceptable risk. He's a legitimate right winger and did a great job creating for others last year.

Plus, even if we don't really push for him, I'd happy to have our interest drive up the price for PSG/Chelsea.

I'd also call Juventus and inquire whether Chiesa might be available for the right price. He's out for much of the year so maybe they'd consider it. I've long thought he'd be the perfect right wing complement.

Even though he improved (not hard considering how awful and injury riddled his time at Barca has been), he is not good enough especially for the type of contract he would want. Doesn’t produce enough goals and at the end of the day, he is not reliable.
