I don’t think neither Macron nor Sarkozy are going to force Zinedine Zidane to manage PSG if Zidane doesn’t want to himself.

The guy has a track record of calling out dickhead politicians in public in France, and if they try to manipulate with him personally and his career I’d like to think he’d tell these other two to pipe down as well.

That would be it, but I don’t believe the rumour one little bit.

I can just imagine Zidane’s face if Macron calls him about PSG with a promise towards the NT job lol.

Even if it happens i seriously doubt Zidane's success. He was an absolute legend in Madrid. God like figure. Which helped him a lot managing the big egos. Does he have the same power in Paris over Messi, Neymar and Mbappe?

Hard to lose Ligue 1 with PSG than win it. I think domestic titles are the only ones they will win with that squad. Adding ageing Messi and Neymar's decline pretty much made PSG worse compared to 2019-21. ZZ will leave there without CL title like Ancelotti did.

Tuchel was their best bet even though BDB, Atlanta, RB knockout rounds were not much of a challenge, but they played will in final vs Bayern. Then they sacked Tuchel and got Messi, Ramos etc in typical PSG style.

Zidane at PSG in the CL will be very interesting.Obviously he will have the players respect ,he is a bigger football figure than Messi .

But even Zidane is unlikely to make Messi/Mb$$$/Neymar etc to defend and press and if they dont they will get destroyed by any strong team in Europe.

This is a huge risk for Zidane ,if he flops in the CL with these stars he will tarnish his legacy just like Pep who hasnt won a CL after Barcelona and there is a big question "Can he win without Messi and how good he is as coach really"

Pep coaches in a league where domestic league titles matter. With PSG, it's irrelevant. ZZ also won't get anything more than 2 years to make a CL final.

So understanding all of this if Zidane.. a guy who walks away from money would accept something like this it is because his actual ambition is threatened.

Is it shocking for Macron and Co to threat his future being able to coach France when they know that is his sole driving factor at the moment?

A lot of hate and bitterness towards one irrelevant football club and a player that made a decesion to remove himself from the limelight for all but few games in a season, and all that after a season the club just had. A lot of You seem really butthurt.

And if Zidane goes to PSG, so what. After winning 3 CLs he can do whatever he wants and he'll always have my respect.

He wouldn’t be a snake but damn if he takes that job it would sting. Betrayal of his Marseille roots and I think most Madridistas would see it at least as a slight against us too.

He’s the only one that can fix that mess. Hope it doesn’t happen.

I kinda feel the same. Mbappe resigning doesn't turn PSG into a rival so that I would begrudge Zidane wanting to coach there. He's French, they can pay him a lot, they are competitive at the highest level (lets not pretend they are bush league now) so it would make sense to me. Good luck, except in the CL against Madrid.

Does anyone actually know what's going on with The Nations League? Know how the points system works, who's winning etc.

I've not watched a single game and have no interest. Just wondering if the feeling and ignorance is mutual.

Zidane, Pep etc have been Qatar World Cup ambassadors for years. So maybe ZZ was open to taking PSG job if NT was not an option (Deschamps has a contract until 2024 anyways).

Psg have a UEFA Cup Winners Cup and an Intertoto Cup. Their judo and esports team have as much international prestige as their football team.

Getting salty that Zidane might manage them is like getting salty that R9 owns Valladolid.

When a president or a king calls you, it is not to tell you how much they would love for you to do something. They call to bribe you so that you do what they want you to do.

Not sure all of you really understand that. But it is important to understand that.

Some people here are saying Zizou can go to Q$G, and that it would not stain his legacy - but it absolutely would. Since last year Q$G are our enemies in every sense (values, sporting sense, politics, finance/market, image...)

Even Ramos joining them irks me, but at least we didn't have an all out war with them at the time. If Zizou joins them he will lose a lot of respect from me - not as a coach, but as a person.

This better be a f*cking joke! I'm ready to move past the turtle snub bullsh1t but I really don't get why Zizou would join them. Money talks, I guess. But my respect for him will drop precipitously IF he joins. They are "trying", but I genuinely hope they fail. The only thing worse would be of he managed Pathetico or Basuralona. I don't believe Zizou will join them.

I guess one of the promises they made to their new sporting daddy was that they'd get Zizou.

You got one part right but the other wrong. Zidane doesn't value money like others and he has walked away multiple times from us as a player and manager forsaking the financial aspect.

Ambition is his weakness and as you have rightfully stated two Presidents and a King aren't calling you to ask your opinion... they are calling you to enforce their desires and demands.

Everyone knows managing France is what Zidane wants most next... and those people who called are the ones who can take that away from him.

It's all politics. Even managing a NT.

Another thing I find pathetic is the same fans who demand blind loyalty are the same fans who will turn on you the second even an unconfirmed rumor comes out.

You demand what you can even give.

We don’t own or owe ZZ anything, and he doesn’t owe us anything. He’s a free man, he can become a rapper, a stripper, a real estate agent, coach NFL or PSG because he is his own man!!

Let’s be honest, the reason we are all a little salty, myself included, is that they are actually getting the right ingredients together to sort out their mess, and we hope ZZ won’t be that one missing ingredient that brings it all together.

Apart from that anyone dissing him or accusing him of no loyalty and honour are actually doing the very same thing they are accusing him of.

Most top managers will say yes to PSG cause they are a top club. Might not be elite but they are a top club in Europe.

Yeah, who cares honestly. People get emotional over something so minor. Players and managers aren’t bothered about this stuff nearly as much as fans.

Politicians are slithery, I wouldn’t put it past Macron to call him about how important to France it would be for Zidane to coach in Ligue 1 and all that bullshit.

    But Zidane isn’t Mbapay.

I don’t actually believe the rumour at all at the end of the day.

Zidane should agree with Macron and tell him that he would love to manage in Ligue 1. If the French government buy Marseille and support it financially like Qatar’s government support PSG, then he will be happy to manage Marseille.

But of course if the government doesn’t want to get involved in running football clubs, maybe they shouldn’t be talking to him about that stuff.

Zidane expresses interest in the France NT and the job is his. He doesn’t need to use PSG as a bridge to get there.
