BTW - records likely won't be recognized for partial attendance. If you want to go into the record books for attending 4 world cup matches in a day, it will need to be 4 COMPLETE world cup matches in a day. Maybe only a VIP with super priority privileges has that chance... Anyone got a FIFA VIP pass for sale? LOL.
I really doubt they will open this to fans. Qatar 2022 will be a fairly dry World Cup. A taste here or there will be enough for me, although access to more beer and wine would be nice.
so when i was searching the bars of doha I went to the neighborhood i was staying at and found a hotel bar that served. we are talking a 50$ a night no brand hotel with the 'nightclub' that attracts those middle aged balding fat white guys with the younger asian women who is a 6/10 type. They had a deal on their facebook page that was like 5 heineken and some snack for like $25. Interested to see what they will have during the World Cup but if that price is even double it is not bad lol.
I'm a solo traveler (from US) looking to join up with a group to bring down the cost of accommodations (would prefer to split an apartment rather than do fan village). I'll be there 11/20 to 12/5 (happy to split it up and move around). Please DM if interested in bunking up! Or feel free to reply if anyone has advice. Hotel at $313/night isn't horrible, but I would rather split one of the $387 2 BR apartments with someone. I'm planning to attend all 3 USMNT group stage games + R16 (fingers crossed) then fill in with additional games.
I was sent the bar menu (attached) from Champions Sports Bar located in the Marriott Marquis Hotel in West Bay. After doing some conversions (ml/cl to ounces and Riyals to USD), this is what I got. Feel free to do the math for your favorite libation or currency. BEER: 330ml (11.2 oz) bottle of beer (Bud, Corona, Heineken, etc.): $13.50 250ml (8.5 oz) draft (same as above): $7.50 250ml Guinness: $9.60, $17.50 for 500ml 500ml (17 oz) draft (Bud, etc.): $14.50 WINE: Merlot, Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio About $12-$16 for a 150ml (5 oz) glass About $55-$70 for a 750ml bottle SPIRITS: note these are all 1 ounce pours and I was told they are measured, standard in US is 1.5 oz. Well stuff (JW Red, Jim Beam, Jack, Stoli, Bacardi, etc.): about $12 Middle Stuff (JW Black, Woodford, Patron, Ketel One, etc.): about $15 COCKTAILS (amount not specified, I assume measured 1 oz shot) Cosmo, Old Fashioned, Mojito, Jager Bomb listed: about $18
do you remember the name? It seemed on the spreadsheet that almost all of the hotels with bars were 4-star+ western brands and that the local brands/no-names didn't have bars. I'm just wondering if there's a bunch of hotels that do have bars and just don't advertise online. Would be cool to find a smaller place that isn't so popular so no lines and maybe more reasonable prices to just hang out with a group and watch matches.
Seems like all the clusters are gone for the group stages. I dont have a ticket yet, and if I get one during the FCFS, im pretty sure only really expensive accommodation Will be left. I have Been waiting for this since Russia, really dont wanna miss it
There's still many clusters that say "prices from coming soon" they will be releasing more available to book bit by bit
I think it will be a lot faster via trains, most of the stadium metro stops are near the end of the line and they can queue up many trains to move ppl out quicker. They can also do things like alternate stops or express trains.
Just before the first hotel become available I suspect they will bring more options soon, and need to make sure they will get sold. Well, I hope so. yeah... still loads to get released
I did buy two conditional final tickets in this phase (2nd phase FCFS) with my friend’s Qatari credit card.(This friend is not a guest on this app) i will let you know when FIFA calls me
the hotel was the al mansour plaza hotel. the bars were the afro wood and pegasus bar and lounge. afro wood had a 6 beers and snack for 200 QR or $55.
Thanks, that's our neighborhood! That place is already on Ed's booze map but he lists the two bars as Pegasus and H2O: http://www.h2oqatar.com/ they very well may have 3 as it seems most hotels with bars have multiple bars, which is common everywhere. Thank you again for this info.
yeah! Afro Wood appears to be on the 2nd floor (Mezzanine) along with Pegasus. H2O is on the ground floor (lobby bar maybe). 20 minute walk from our apartment. Thank you again for the info.
these are from a sports bar too, I imagine the clubs are more just like in the US. My fear is the bars establish "World Cup Drink Specials" where the prices are double or more from these regular prices. Sort of a reverse happy hour that lasts the whole tournament.
@vibrantcolours previously you mentioned apartments in Bin Mahmoud area as a great choice, unfortunately when i went to book these were gone i am now looking at a small list of available options, which would u suggest out of these - doing 1 game a night for a few nights - - i am willing to wait to see if more places get added, but at this point im pretty bummed about losing the bin Mahmoud apartments 3896 Nuaija 41 Villas (Zone 41, Street 851, Building 7, Doha) 3248 Fereej Kulaib (Zone 35, Street 960, Building 102, Doha) 2582 Nuaija 44 Al Saddaqah ( Zone 44, Street 894, Building 22, Doha) 3953 Old Airport (Al Hilal Ashh Sharqiyah area) thank you so much for all your posts
As reported by TV Azteca with the lawyer representing Chile as the source. Hopefully FIFA does the right thing for once .
