I'm sure Budweiser, one of FIFA's biggest sponsors and a company that pumps millions of USD into getting their name all over the event, is ecstatic at the thought of alcohol limits and bans on hundreds of thousands of people lol.
Qatar volunteered to host the worlds biggest drunk fest and wont let people drink for 1 month. I still can't believe they wont relax the rules for 1 month. Even Russia relaxed itself for that one month.
Because hotel room now available, even only one hotel, i want to book. The problem is when I enter a child, there are no rooms available, while guests for 2 people are available in hotel rooms. Can i book a hotel room for 2 people, and squeeze my 4 year old son to enter? Are the rules in qatar very strict? Note : We already have Hayya Card
so interestingly we are staying at 4010 Al Doha Al Jadeeda Apartments. I liked the location the best but the 5 minutes from souq watif and msheireb metro stop seems to be driving times not walking. still not too bad if its 15 minutes. It now has cost of coming soon... so you can't book it anymore. I had never seen a place fall off after being availalble.
which is why I'm going to wait. I like the West Bay locations but I think hotels with bars will become available. I'm ok with the US$313/night price even though it was posted that the room can be had for less than ⅓ of that in non-WC times.
https://englandsupporters.thefa.com/fan-forums/tickets_and_travel/f/8/t/17253#pi9471=3 On the third page, a post by Ben W. Nothing else interesting though, just pretty much what was quoted.
If an apartment in the Mushaireb area opens up I think I would give it a go to try and switch. I think that's the best location of any of the apartments.
I saw a Doha hotel room service menu someone posted that showed a bottle of Johnny Walker Red (about $20 in the US) going for $200, so $600 would be pretty ridiculous. That works out to $35 a shot. But increased booze/drink/beer prices even above the normal high prices is definitely a possibility. These hotels are going to cash in on this.
Indeed. Not only BRA, though. The fact I got no IMT cat3 for high demand group matches and R16s seems to indicate that ST and CST were somehow favored. Damn, I got M64 cat3 but no M48 and M54. I tried the IMT route because I do want M54 and M55, not conditional tickets.
What do you mean 70-100 USD on different sites? Where can you find this prices and are this World Cup dates?
Agreed. The biggest issue is the time to board the Metro after each game. I have estimated that it will take 2 hours to vacate a 40,000 seat stadium and put people on buses or metro trains. This is because each train can carry about 300 fans and the trains can't arrive faster than every 3 or 4 minutes. So the average wait would be 1 hour. So for all of those transits between matches one must add ~ 1hr. Now if you leave the game 15 min early, you might be able to significantly reduce that 1 hr average wait to say 15 min (noting you won't be the only one leaving early). In that case, you might make some of the kick offs or you might still be 15 min late. Either way, I think you can count on missing on average at least 30 min of each match, and possibly 45 to 60 min. So, to attend 4 matches, you would only be able to see approx 1/2 to 3/4 of each. :-( If you arrange a private car for the day, you might be able to improve on that, but it's an unknown how they will control traffic. In all likelihood, one must either run for kilometers from drop off and pick up points to join and depart the stadium crowds, OR one must sit in traffic jams as your car tries to get closer. If you're somebody who would like to spend $1000 to say you saw a part of 4 different matches in one day, then I suppose it is possible. But to claim you saw the start and finish of 4 matches will just not be possible in my opinion. Thus for me I have elected for 2 matches on Nov 28 ;-)
I mean the normal price, if you want to stay there TODAY and use booking.com, for example. During the WC's period, it is only available through the FIFA site, costing 3x more
And this just confirms my concern about Ubers and Taxis. They will have official pick up and drop off points - and those points will have long cues and/or traffic congestion (never mind that the drivers won't necessary be on time because they will be servicing other customers at other congested sites). If one intends to see the final whistle of the first match, maybe an Uber/Taxi might get you to your 2nd match faster than the metro, but likely still not fast enough for some stadiums. I might be wrong, but the chances of making those 6-10 combinations on time is low for all but a few stadium combos - which have already been listed. Hey I had visions of seeing two 6-10 matches every day, but all indicators point towards a more wise plan. And for those trying to make 1-4, 4-7 and 7-10 combos, I simply cannot see it happening consistently. :-(
Well it's unfortunately how ticket transfer is so restricted. I have a separate 5 match unused application that has the two Canada matches and 2 of the 3 Portugal matches (Uruguay and Korea) plus match 51 - all 2 seats each in Cat 1. But I see no simple way to make them available to you. At least you know those seats will be put back into the FCFS phase!
Unless you’re trying to set a record or are being paid to do this. Why would you stress yourself on vacation? Trying to see back to back games is madness. Stadiums usually have 3 rings of security. Just getting to the Uber taxi spot will be a good 30+ minute walk. Plus the queue and the traffic bottleneck exiting a stadium! The Metro won’t be any better; A ridiculous queue because it’s the only ONLY metro station!
I believe that means all the tickets you have for that particular match. In other words, you can only resell tickets match by match. I do recall someone here saying that if you have say 5 tickets and only need say 2, you will be allowed to sell 3 back. But at least the T&Cs are not clear on that.
Exactly. ~300 fans per train x 15 to 20 trains per hour = 4500 to 6000 fans per hour. If the station is not terminal (and most of the stadiums are at terminal stations), maybe that rate can double. There will be a lot of buses servicing the 2 central shuttle hubs and so that will likely allow the volumes per hour to double. But for sure 2+ hours to evacuate the 30,000 to 40,000 crowds. Even if they add cars to each train (which I doubt they can but I don't know) it's still a huge bottle neck. Uber/Taxi can only carry away several hundred and the parking lots of private cars is likely only another several hundred fans. So maybe a few of thousand can escape by road, but the rest will be in long queues for buses and trains. I don't say this to be negative but rather to paint a realistic picture of trying back to back matches in Doha. I really hope I've got this wrong, but it would seem to me that it will take quite a while to get from a match to your next destination in Doha. I would love to hear anyone with a different opinion!
I'm in the same boat. I'd be willing to pay a bit more even for the convenience of a dedicated hotel. Especially one where I know I'll be able to kick back w/ a cold one and watch a few matches without fighting the Fan Fest/Zone crowds and queues. That's fun for a couple matches, but not every one.
