On a slightly different note, I understand that there is only one place in Qatar where designated non-nationals can by alcohol (excluding hotels and restaurants.) Has anyone heard whether holders of Hayaa cards will be included in this designation? It would make sense and be easy for the Qatar authorities to administer.
Question might have been made a few times, but has anyone tried paying with a relatives payment card? In other words, I've got conditional tickets for the finals and was wondering whether I could pay with my brother or fathers credit card? I know FAQ says no, but was wondering if anyone has tried it in earlier phases.
Brazil was a prime example where every man and his dog were going to add their group matches to their ballot application under the IMT route if you were in Doha at that time. But as they were one of those qualified countries that don't have a paid supporter membership scheme, you would expect more favourable odds of success by going down the ST route (as discussed a few times here previously, which as a whole seemed to turn out to be completely accurate). From the anecdotal experience of a family member and then Brazillian supporters and their friends, those who instead applied for Brazil tickets under the supporter ticket route instead of the individual match option. At least for #16 BRA SRB and #48 CMR BRA that are both at Lusail Stadium it seemed that the hit rate of success was extremely high for CAT3 and CAT2. The match #31 BRA SUI at the smaller capacity Stadium 974 less so. Still, I agree with what others said about the successful applications going unpaid. People will have too many reasons not to pay for their application and abandon their plans/trip, let alone the numerous false applications submitted by touts or whoever. This will include a fair share of tickets at the less expensive price categories.
Thanks! I know it has worked previously, but last thing I want is Brazil to make it to the finals and get cancelled tickets haha
Am arriving on the Saturday before the tournament and quite happy yo head straight to the outlet for the airport, load up on one month's worth, and head to my accomodation.
My buddy and i booked the cruise, according to the pics, its gonna be great, maybe they will have alcohol on board. Im worried about covid stuff happening and they trying to quarantine the whole ship. So i pick my vacation every November / December for the following year, this has been in the works for a while only an act of god is stopping this trip. my buddy and I did 9 games in 10 days i believe in Russia, after day 5 i was ready to pack it in between the traveling, drinking, partying.
my buddy and I did 9 games in 10 days i believe in Russia, after day 5 i was ready to pack it in between the traveling, drinking, partying.[/QUOTE] Tell me about it - but lets face it, this WC will be less drinking (not just due to the availability but also the cost) and the transport between destinations is minimal. Was at least 5 hours for each change of city in Russia.
I've noticed that strategic apartments are starting to sell out. I think people are starting to make up their mind and going for it.
The accommodation site is showing the first hotel ever (at least for my dates). At Doha West Bay, 313 USD / night (low availabilty) This can be a sign that at least a few hotels will become available. As a note, the same hotel TODAY can be found for 70-100 USD on different sites
A user on the England Supporters Travel Club messageboard had said earlier today that they were told many will be added tomorrow. That place looks okay. Still a twenty-minute walk to a metro station though. But I'd imagine the sea views from those rooms are very nice.
I was successful in my application for CROvCAN! Given our bottom-feeder ranking, I suspect there will be FCFS tickets available for all of Canada's games.
good bellwether listing.... if you were on the fence of hotel vs apartment before... this should help make your decision.
Thanks for the heads up! I went in and there was no rooms in Barahat Al Janoub, BUT there was one hotel available, so I made a reservation right away! PS: It was the Retaj Al Rayyan Hotel
you know what would have been cool? if they would have put every apartment/hotel/etc. on one damn map.
i think he's talking about the one store that sells alcohol. if they allowed anyone with a hayya to shop there it would be sold out instantly. there is no way they could keep up with the demand. hell, russia ran out of beer lol.
I, too, am a single traveler. My dates are arrive 26-Nov and depart 30-Nov. This morning was the first time a hotel in the city appeared for those dates. I am actually a little antsy about securing my accommodation as soon as possible, and was considering booking a cabin at a Fan Village. But now I think I'll look again tomorrow in the hopes more hotels become available for booking.
Actually the hotel options sounds good enough price / value ratio. I am just not sure I would take this one if there will be more to choose from pretty soon?! EDIT: WOW, the apartments are simply disappeared for the group stages. I was checking from Nov 19-Dec 7 and there are only 2 pages of apartments are left for these dates out of the original 12-13 if I remember correctly.
I'll be brining a few cheap android phones to load my tickets onto them. If I want to exchange with someone I have a reasonable amount of trust with I can hand him the phone with the tickets etc.
more importantly i have no idea how long i am staying Doha before FCFS stage getting more tickets lol. this makes me almost impossible for booking room unless i am fine with frequent check in/ out
I think it is extremely unlikely Hayya card holders will be permitted to buy. Even for non-Muslim ex-pats who are residents they make it difficult as they need to set up a special account with a card to just be able to purchase a low monthly limit which is tracked. While it would be awesome if we were permitted to buy even say 1 bottle each, I would be shocked (pleasantly) if this happens.
