Dortmund "reject" is harsh. He was loaned out to get more playing time which he has received. More importantly, Frankfurt plays with wing-backs exclusively and their coach realized early that he could be a good fit. He would not have gotten that same chance here and his development would have suffered.

He will have another year left on his contract when he returns next summer where we would extend him. If he doesn't want to extend then you sell him and get a nice sum for a young proven player.

I'm reading Lewy is all but gone to Barcelona...
I think these days it's a Step down to go to Barcelona from Bayern but without Lewy we might have more chance next year if we get a good coach and good backline for once....

I personally like the trajectory they're taking with Xavi. But yes, another chance for us to catch Bayern if they end up recovering from his loss.

I really hate watching that smug Catalan celebrate.

This was BVB level defending from Villa to throw away a 2:0 lead in not even 6 minutes. Honestly, it was even worse than us. I can give credit to Gundo for his ability to read the game and get into the right positions to score but on all 3 goals, they were left almost completely free as if Villa was playing 1 or 2 men down.

Yeah, sometimes you wonder how they do it and they beat the odds in every knockout match which had to be one of the hardest paths to the finals.
Courtois was the match winner, players like Carvajal always get the job done and deserve more appreciation and I don't know how that midfield still works for them (all without a doubt classy, worldclass players but you'd think they are past their prime).

Also, Kroos was pissed at the German reporter asking him annoying postmatch questions aimed at making Liverpool look good (insinuation that the better team lost and whether he was surprised because of Liverpool's pressure). Valid questions maybe but absolutely wrong place and time to ask and Kroos didn't hold back. You could still hear him ranting at the journalist after they didn't show the interview anymore.
I just love it when stupid people are called out for their stupidity and when players react accordingly to journalists trying to talk down their achievements.

I just dont get it how Real won this year.. They should have exit in PSG game where they defended 90 min with 11 players in their own half..
Against City they were destroyed in 70% of 2 matches..
Against Lpool 4:24 shoots on goal, hoe they did it is just WOW..
    Like Greece 2004.

It's different from Greece. I've noticed in football when a club has a good history in a tournament even if its a different group of players they still have a lot of belief and do well and the opposite too

Juventus, Manchester City and even Manchester United to an extent have a relatively poor history in the CL and they often under perform.

Where as AC Milan, Liverpool (apart from when facing Madrid) and Real Madrid have thet extra confidence which makes then excellent and win against the odds.

I have seen similar in the FA cup where Tottenham for instance even when they are better manage to lose, but Arsenal despite never being able to beat a top club in the league find a way in the FA cup.

They just have a winners mentality. No matter how badly they're getting outplayed they just do not get rattled and are always in the game as they don't make critical mistakes to beat themselves and pounce on the few opportunities they have.

Spot on! The winning mentality from top to bottom in the club is what makes them the most successful club.

Although he technically didn't play anywhere this past season, Neven Subotic has now officially announced his retirement

This is why we aren't a top club. Now Bissouma might turn out to be a flop, but be is exactly the sort of signing we should have made a long time ago. A quality player, who completes our DM position.

Instead we wasted 25 million on Bellingham, who leaves huge gaps in our midfield and despite the hype is not actually very good.

I hope Kehl actually understands how important it is to sell Bellingham and sign a quality DM.

Bissouma would have been perfect, but Neves will do. He'll, we should throw our hat in for De Jong with the Bissouma money.

Some footage from the player perspective from the Cologne-Milan friendly. Pretty cool and I always wanted to see something like this, especially on a higher level like a CL match. I'd probably get sick if I had to watch a full game like this but this may become part of future games.

Bayern are going to walk the league again. That will be 11 in a row, which has never been done before in a major league. The rest of the chasing pack need to have a serious thought about how they are allowing Bayern to win 11 league titles in a row.

I agree. They have improved their squad (despite losing Lewa) and we are in rebuild mode. I would give us a smaller chance to win it than I did at the beginning of last season. But I will still cheer for a surprise season for us.

Süle and Schlotterbeck are solid signings to shore up the defence. Özcan as well to a certain degree but how well he can do at a higher level club is yet to be seen. And then Adeyemi of course who's still quite young.

The real gut punch was Haller's health issues though. With the money already invested in several big signings, there's not much flexibility to work with. Can only hope he has a smooth recovery process and that the club can bring in a reasonable short or mid term solution

I thought Frankfurt would've put up a stronger fight. With majority of their squad in tact, and the feel good vibes of winning the EL. But they got absolutely crushed like a minnow by Bayern
