Agree. Seems like a solid signing though I haven't watched him much in EPL last couple of years.

But, like you said, we need a younger DM that's going to be the regular starter where Matic only needs to start every once in a while and sub in to close some matches out.

If the salary figures are correct at 3.5 million, it's a bit much for us imo. Though a one year contract negates the albatross potential.

Would it be too inconvenient for the mods to edit the opening post with the official in and out deals thorough the summer for us lazy people?

It's just hard to get the full picture without spending an unreasonable amount of time on transfer rumors and maybe other people have had their fill of it too?

You want the official moves put on the front page?

Yeah, pretty much. Like an edit section that gets updated when there are official news of incoming/outgoing players.

The owner sounds kinda salty. He knew how Sabatini operates before he hired him, talking about computer and what not now is just... pathetic.

That was too much as well, but at least mkhi was a key player for us. Matic has not been playing regularly.

Serie A is such a shambles that Matic will be one of the top midfielders in the league

Mkhi was a reject not playing regularly before he joined us too

I think we'll have to see how the budget works out but at least it's not saddling us with a high wage, aging player for years.

We usually have more of an idea about what the team will spend in the summer but I really have no idea.

My concern about Matic comes from all the people I read around the Roma boards saying "we got our starting DM". I really don't see him starting more than 1/2 the matches and probably not going 90 minutes in most of those. Maybe I'm wrong?

So, I hope he's more like an Oliviera replacement in the sense of expected minutes (starts some matches, subs in the last 20 minutes with Mourinho's directions for closing out the match in many more) and not one of the 2 major pieces we need this summer to really rebuild our midfield.

There's really just a lot more questions than answers right now.

One is that while opinions vary on Cristante, it's clear that Mourinho really likes him and he figures to play a big role. I'm still wondering if Mourinho see him as a DM going forward or will he try to get him back to the box to box role which is his natural position / strength?

Matic will be the Keita replacement that was never addressed. He’ll come on to help see games out and be good in rotation.

Neves still looks like the main guy they are after right now. Douglas Luiz I’m assuming is the back up option. I really doubt they’ll just settle with Matic unless cashing in on Zaniolo is what makes or breaks these deals.

Jorge Mendes is also pushing Isco to Roma, but I assume they’ll wait to see what happens with Dybala.

Overall it’s shaping up to be a very good market.
    Matic, Solbakken, Neves/Luiz, Dybala/Isco

Celik all but secured according to DiMarzio and Romano. Finally a backup to give Rick some rest. Reported fee between 7.5-8m

It seems Solbakken is close as well.

Di Marzio also says Mourinho wants Berardi if Zaniolo is sold.

With all the wingers we are linked too, it seems like Jose wants to go 4231, not sure I agree as our players seem better fit and more comfortable in a 3 back.

    Tammy
    Zalewski/X-LP7-Zaniolo
    X-Cristante (yuck)
    Spina-Ibanez/Mancini/X-Smalling-Rick

Matic will help us in big games, we leaked goals a lot vs Juve/Inter/Milan and he should bolster us defensively.
He rests for the small games.

He looks to good to be true based on the price..... What a player! Imagine him and Spina playing in the same game. Hopefully, we won't have to imagine too much longer.

Rui; Celik, Smalling, Mancini, Spinazzola; DM (Matic), Frattesi (Cristante); Zaniolo (Solbakken), Pellegrini, LW; Abraham.

The most expensive parts of this summer come from signing a true box to box and the defensive midfielder. Happy with Matic in rotation and his professionalism.

I'd sell Mancini and bring in someone higher quality. You need a LW.

Why do people think he’ll automatically start over Karsdorp?

Another Mendes client. Probably outside what Roma can afford but would be a great fit for Mourinho.

Facundo Farias' agent: "We have an offer from Roma, but we definitely prefer Porto. It's a club that can serve as a springboard to later reach the best teams in the world."

Lol. Never heard of this guy anyway.
