Yeah there is deffo that problem, people also posting their tickets online when they arrive, people then use the QR code on fake tickets to gain entry. That was a known problem in the RM end apparently also. One massive downside of it all. The tickets had no hologram on them at all, only a box on the back which security used a special pen on. Easily fakeable.
In 1994 watching Netherlands v Saudi Arabia in a bar with fellow Irish fans and some Europeans we managed to persuade them to switch channels and show the game in Arabic rather than with the American commentators. The English speaking commentary on the local stations was simply dreadful. I don't think anyone in the bar spoke a word of Arabic but the commentators were excellent and understood the game. They got excited at the right time etc. I am sure it will be a lot better in 2026 but I may yet be watching games on the Mexican channels.
Sure I can enjoy watching a game in Arabic - just not sure I can enjoy two weeks of it. Anyway the purpose of my post was not to learn that people have different preferences to how they spend their time while attending a World Cup. I'm mean some fans seem to enjoy being flat out drunk and sleeping with their head on a curb for weeks on end, but that's not me. The purpose was simply to enquire about what we collectively know about how widespread Beinsports is in Qatar and whether to expect TVs in rooms and big screens on cruise ships? Beino or No Beino? ;-)
Thanks for sharing. I would like to note that rooms is one big problem, but possibly not the only problem. How about the ability to move people from these remote locations into the core of the city? Buses, Ubers, Car rentals, and can the roads handle the volume? And how about feeding everyone and providing adequate healthcare and public toilets? Something tells me their healthcare system may not be sized for a large influx of people who inevitably seek help for various acute conditions that arise. And then as I enquired in a separate post, how about their capacity to show matches on tvs and big screens? Last time I was in DOHA a lot centered around 5 star hotels. Well the lounges of such hotels are not going to manage 300,000+ per day. I totally get that one must adapt to your destination, but folks don't have much latitude in their need for eating, drinking, toilets and sleeping and while at a World Cup, commuting and watching. The new metro sounds great, but one needs to get to and from the metro. We're not talking Tokyo or Shanghai metros here... Something tells me that tickets won't be a problem. If they don't get their tourist infrastructure questions answered soon, one might be able to pick up tickets for very cheap because a quarter of the ticket holders will be at home several thousand miles away! Is anyone seeing any official solutions to this yet?
Two new clusters just became available, starting from USD 85 Just before the ticket results. Here we go
Looks like some additional accommodation has been added to the official site. I've given up waiting and booked a package with the official English FA supplier, but have been looking at the dates I am out there just out of curiosity. It's not much, but the cheaper apartments at Barwa Barahat Al Janoub have reappeared, where previously they were sold out for a couple of days within that ten day period. They also have a studio apartment option that includes a TV and that wasn't there before. Hopefully, for others, other dates, durations and party sizes now have more options also.
What is the name of the Studio Apts? I can't see them and that's the option I am looking for, something for 2ppl Thanks
hey guys...has there been any info released on when exactly will our applications be released tomorrow? I can only see 31st of May but no specific time...is it fair to assume it will be the 13 00 doha time? cheers
Didn't the FAQ change at midnight last time (ie 12 hours beforehand or whatever it was). My memory is super hazy from March but maybe the answer is earlier in the thread. I think check https://lottery2-intl.fwc22.tickets.fifa.com/lottery/welcome_en.html or whatever the website says from midday Doha time tomorrow. In phase 1 there was a queue so it's worth lining up early if possible.
last time it was around 1pm Doha Time I think.. I will come to office tomorrow rather than working from home, just to avoid being tempted by refreshing the page very 2 minutes lol
I mean ... good luck to the people going. But yeah, it feels like it's cluster fuk waiting to happen.
It's an option on the dates I was searching - 20th November to 30th November for 1 person - in the Barwa Barahat Al Janoub cluster. Hopefully the link works... https://www.qatar2022.qa/book/en/reservation/57827/4382-Barwa-Barahat-Al-Janoub-Cluster-U
some potential issues you are mentioning have been answered earlier. Dont worry at all about transport between clusters and downtown / stadiums. the number of Buses allocated to this kind of things will be huge. I would not worry about food / healthcare Etc, You are over stressing for nothing. Look at measures they did regarding daily shuttles flights from Dubai, they are serious and they will not miss on such things. Another example: 3000 Turkish police will join the world cup to help in the security.. just another example
Yup I do get that feeling... At the peak they are going to need over 150,000 rooms and I don't see commuting from the UAE to be much of a solution. It takes many hours out of one's day to fly. Do people really want to consume their entire day in transit to watch a football match? And worse still, do that several times? That's really not my idea of a good time. Maybe on a comfortable train looking out of a window as the world passes by, but not in ubers and airports and jammed airplanes eating crappy food... Does anyone share the opinion that if Qatar had a solution to this problem it will be appearing very soon, otherwise cluster fuk is on the menu? I know others have different opinions, but I find it hard to pull the trigger on tens of thousands of dollars on tickets under these conditions...
I attended Brazil 2014 & Russia 2018. A year prior to both World Cups, all you could read in the media were negative things: Brazil - They were running out of time to make stadiums, gangs. Russia - Its not a Western World country, so it must be shit. Both of them turned out to be nothing but a great time. Russia especially exceeded my expectations. I can understand why people may not be optimistic after seeing the accommodation options, flight costs and such, but being worried about transportation to games, healthcare and food is just ridiculous. I have spoken to numerous sources that went to the gulf cities (Doha & Dubai primarily) and they all told me those cities are 20 years ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to infrastructure. Make of that what you will.
In the first sales phase, the FCFS started two days after the deadline for payment of the allocated tickets. If FIFA keeps this up, FCFS should start June 17th. Let's wait
