How You Like Me Now? - The Karim Benzema Thread

Personally, I thought Benz would end up like Isco. On any given night he can be the best attacker in the world, but his lack of consistency was mainly due to a lack of effort. People said it was just Benz's body language that gave that impression, I disagree. The past couple of years he's been a lot more consistent, and I don't find myself complaining about him disappearing.

I don't think this has anything due to Cristiano, someone linked Benz's maturity growth due to him having kids - and I tend to find that link to be more plausible. Benz used to average 5 goals in the CL even during our 4 in 5 CL run; which is indicative of old Benz, a string of solid games, a couple of no shows and a big game or two to keep us dreaming of his potential.

To use a basketball reference - he was an Anthony Davis, great player has everything to win by himself but for whatever reason needs another All Star with him to win. He's broken through that this year, and it's been amazing to watch.

Agreed, I love that he's a team player first. It's funny how today even though he's an attacker, he's arguably the most important piece of our midfield. Without him we struggle to move the ball up.
