He is not having a bad half but he's given the ball away with some short volleyed one touch passes to salah.
No, no chance that score stands. Unusual consequence of how offside rule is worded. It doesn’t matter if the GK is a “defensive player” or not. Any defending player counts for offside. They do this to keep GK from just running up the field to cause offside. Benzema was always offside. This nonsense about Fabinho attempting to play the ball is irrelevant.
They could have easily decided the ball off Fab was a tackle and given it; I’m surprised it wasn’t given. They got a break there
VAR got it right. Thats offside. There has to be a deliberate attempt of the Pool defender to pass it back
Bag of nerves, was off my seat almost hit my head on the ceiling when mane hits the post and it looked to me it was rolling in.
No, Benzema was already “technically” offside. Only a controlled pass back would make that onside. Only a gross misrepresentation of the rules would have put that “controlled back pass” in play.
Actually, I think he’s actually been pretty good today (comparatively). He’s just a contrarian by nature. He always has to make his point by disagreeing with someone else. Want to see a better half after the break though. Liverpool has been pretty toothless so far. We need to do better.
Now I'm worried about this game. This is the way Real won their last 3 games. Outplayed but their opponents didn't put away their chances. Ominous.
I know it's early, but if Salah keeps dribbling into the defender and losing the ball, does Jota come on? Mane looks up for it today. Diaz is double teamed every time.
Neither Mo or Diaz have been effective so far. Can see Bobby or Jota if that continues. Luckily Fab and Thiago seem fine so far.
