I bought one for my better half. Make sure you wear the 22 Parley with the goatee C hat. You will be in fantastic company.
Well I'm seeing top gun during the game, so I'm changing my vote to win by two because that's my luck.
Chris DeVille isn't optimistic https://www.columbusalive.com/story...-columbus-crew-find-shelter-storm/9932325002/
That’s a nice, honest assessment. Though his ‘why should I still tune in this Saturday?’ line at the end wasn’t exactly convincing.
I'm all for Etienne Hat Trick Night For Spite. In seriousness, that last paragraph is a lot of wishful thinking. As I've said elsewhere, by a third of the way through the season teams have shown who they are. We're a 1.1 ppg team. We need to be a 2.0 ppg team (better than the current conference leaders) to get back into a comfortable playoff spot. I just don't know how that can happen with the way the team is built and how they're currently being coached. I felt before the season started that with luck this was a fringe playoff team and without it that they were going to miss out. I think to this point we're worse than that low expectation. And we're vastly farther away from what Bez and Porter said we should expect. We head to Atlanta who is a bit banged up and underperforming as well. Yet they are undefeated at home and we're winless on the road. I'm not confident. I will be drinking some beers, watching the game and hoping I'm wrong. I continue to wish to be proven foolish. Like last week when I predicted a 2 or more goal loss but really wished it would be the start of a 3 game win streak to "save the season." We're a game deeper and on the road. I don't think that win streak starts tomorrow. Something called "The Bubble Truck" is coming to my sister's house on Saturday afternoon for my nephew's birthday. So, some fun will be had with the day regardless of lousy Crew performance. Also seeing Wicked with the family on Sunday and a day off on Monday to recover from a very fun weekend. Just want to make sure everyone knows that I'm enjoying myself.
I’ll look at our ppg after this weekend with the international break and see what we need to do to make the playoffs. Spoiler alert: a lot.
I did some quick math in my post above yours. Mostly thinking of what it would take to get to 4th or so, comfortably in the playoffs. It's not quite as dire to squeak in at the 7th position. I'll be curious to see what you come up with doing a deeper dive. I checked 538 out of curiosity; they have us with a 54% chance of making the playoffs. .
It’s still early, season is only about 1/3 over, and the east is really congested right now. That is helping keep us alive right now.
Sounds like fun. We are going to make best use of our land - putting up the tent, kayaking, fishing, sitting around the bonfire, grilling, etc. for the weekend. We may venture indoors for the game since we will have company over.
The fact that there currently aren't any run away winners, like the pace the Revs were last year, helps us. When we start the elusive "three game win streak" I keep hoping we start tomorrow, we're right in the fight for the last playoff spots. But the longer we go getting 1.1 ppg, the less that streak will help us.
Well Gannett just shuttered Columbus Alive. Man. Before I worked there, @ColumbusAlive was the cool local arts paper I aspired to emulate. Later on, @andydowning33 and @joeloliphint made it the best local journalism outlet in Columbus. Was proud to do my thing there for seven years, even if during a weird era. A huge loss.— Chris DeVille // chrisdeville.bsky.social (@chrisdeville) May 27, 2022
Although we haven't seen much of him for a while, Chris was a longtime BigSoccer habitue and his father still is. Puzzle of the day: taking their last name into account, what is his screen name.
Huh, I didn't know Chris was on here. We worked at our college radio station together. *waves if he's lurking*
Chris, if you are lurking......you don't really like Father John Misty do you? Insufferable masturbatory claptrap. Let's not have any more news about him on Stereogum, k? Anyways, lose by two. It seems like you agree.
They called up Rowe. What's the maximum amount of call-ups/loans? I'm going to miss the Rowe Maid of the Mist* hat trick. *still workshopping the nickname.
I agree, but I bet he’s on the bench to start. Porter will bring on Matan in the 85th minute, then JRR in the… 93rd minute, when we’re down 2-0.
You can call up a player for a total of 16 days (in essence, 4, 4-day short term call ups) per season. The Crew have already added Noah Fuson to the permanent senior team roster. So we already have three strikers on the roster (Berry, Hurtado and Fuson; though technically the roster lists Yeboah and Molino as "forwards," too). MLS rosters are so effing convoluted. Both Fuson and Isaac Angking (midfield) now show up on both the Crew 2 and senior team rosters.
This could be a 0-0 or very boring 1-1 game. The home team has lost the last two. Neither team has figured out how to win this year and we haven't scored in over 180 minutes. One phrase that hasn't been used a lot lately is golazo bonanza. This won't be that game.
I hope not. Drove all the way to SKC last month for a 0-0 draw. Hopefully didn't do the same thing again driving to Atlanta for another one.
