etihad flights are going down in price too. still 500 from dxb/auh but hoping that when UAE is eliminated that prices drop more

 

I continue to be frustrated by the situation regarding hotels.
Today I looked at the Hospitality packages again and notice that they are now listing hotels in Dubai.
Bizarrely for the dates and rooms I checked, Hospitality prices are significantly lower than booking the same thing with the hotel direct and lower than using Booking.com!
Go figure.
Even more bizarre is that if you book a room via Hospitality in Dubai, it states quite clearly that you are responsible for your own travel arrangements, and doesnt provide any clues as to what they might be.
wtf.

very interesting to see what games are not available for single match hospitality in the group stage. All Group A, G, H available. Group B, the USA games are available but none of the others. Group C, only Poland vs Saudi Arabia is available. Group D, strangely France's opener vs the Playoff team is unavailable. Group E, Germany Spain in unavailable. Group F, all Belgium games unavailable.

A lot of these games unavailable on Hospitality I can totally see being the most in demand including everything in Group C. Also if I'm a neutral and can make that Germany Spain game, I am trying to get a ticket. Reminds me of of Netherlands vs Spain matchup from 2014

 

Yes this is an example from the previous World Cup (Russia 2018) which might be helpful for someone trying to imagine it but didn't go through it. I hope it ends up being similar this time around but you never know with this new interface/system. Being able to see the seat details during the last minute carting/purchasing frenzy is super useful.

Also can add that like people said above for other previous tournaments, that during the resale portal of 2018 I had friends who added back tickets for resale to "perhaps relatively less desirable to neutrals" matches of that tournament - for example Serbia vs. Switzerland, Nigeria vs. Iceland, Panama vs Tunisia - that seemed like FIFA were struggling to sell and were always available when the portal was open, and their tickets would still end up sold it would just maybe take an extra day or two. Despite there being some sort of expectation or narrative that FIFA would try to sell their own unsold tickets first, it didn't seem to be the case.

 

Something that may help (who knows )

 

I sure hope so; but I doubt it. The playoff matches are being managed by the Qatar Football Federation not FIFA. but i hope you're right

Yep, exactly the same has happened to me for my flight on the 24th. No biggie.

 

release award availability on qatar.... thats what i want lol.

 

same with mine, my departure from Doha the day after the final moved from 7AM to 9AM, so 2 more hours of sleep. But also 2 less hours on my overnight layover in Istanbul.

 

Yep mine was also for the 24th from Heathrow.

Also all good - as I said only 30 mins difference so nothing major and Qatar Airways will probably be a more comfortable flight than British Airways.

Considered cancelling for free and looking for a cheaper flight but not worth the hassle for me.

 

the way I understand it (I helped Ed a bit with this) is the top tab "RESTAURANTS/BARS/CLUBS THAT SERVE ALCOHOL" is the full list of bars that he was able to confirm online serve alcohol. He included the names of hotels in this list in parentheses.

The second tab "HOTELS (SERVES ALCOHOL/NO ALCOHOL/or UNKNOWN)" is just a list of hotels and it's a mix of those that serve and those that do not serve, and some where their web site didn't say.

So if you want to make sure you book a hotel that includes a bar that serves alcohol, make sure its on property bar(s) appears in the top list. Many of the hotels have multiple bars.

The flight was always on a Qatar plane but with a BA flight number. Much better off with Qatar than flying with BA anyway.

 

Sounds like they’re making room for more flights! Which should drop prices. Good news

 

There are def more flights being added. I just checked AUH > DOH on the 20th and can see Qatar Air added a 10:30pm flight on a B777

 

Yes, agreed. I still haven’t booked any accomodation. It’s been the most frustrating part of the trip to book.

 

Not accurate, for the last 3 world cups you can see the cat, section and seats. I Upgrades my cat 1 to actually cat 2 Mexico vs Korea tickets to lower seats

in the Hotels, it looks like he put (Serves) or (No Alcohol) after each hotel name.

Though most all the clubs/bars that serve are in the hotels.
