THAT is good news. Will the portal be only category based or will more details be provided about seat location?
Scotland is my ancestral home and so my #2 - so I'm with you. If you seat nearby I can help translate ;-)
fifa will absolutely have a re-sell portal. they always have. Also groups B and C exist where high demand is there. Most of those games will be rough to get. But will few exceptions, everything in A and D thru H will be available in FCFS and the last minute portal with little work unless you only want Cat 3.
I'm not convinced those category maps are going to turn out to be accurate. Take Al Bayt. England have been allocated over 3000 category 3 tickets. At a rough approximation that's around 6 blocks of seats, but there after only 6 category 3 blocks on the map in the stadium, 3 at each end, and we obviously aren't getting them all.
Does anyone in Doha know if it will be possible to ride a bicycle to the stadiums? Are electric scooters available for rent and could you use those to get to a stadium?
Damn I still havnt gotten my Iran ticket yet. Starting to get nervous. Hope there Will be some available in the next FCFS
hmm good question.. and honestly I don't really know it all depends on where from. Khalifa International Stadium, probably, it's attached to Aspire Park and Villaggio Mall so there are bike paths all around that area + ample bike-specific parking stalls. Lusail Stadium is not opened yet, nor accessible to the public but I'm going to assume it will be bike-accessible as this is the hip-new area of Qatar and they are connecting it all with bike lanes and scooters and the like. I bike around this area all the time. You may actually be able to bike all the way to Al Bayt Stadium, but it's quite a long ride. I think you can bike to the Lusail Circuit at least. Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium is quite far off too, but there are bike lanes going out that way to Mall of Qatar (where the Rayyan Stadium is located), I've been down quite far that way, but never gone all the way. I'm assuming Thumama would be the hardest to get to. One downside is that as far as I know, you can't take bikes (edit: unless foldable) on the metro or public transportation so you really need to bike all the way from your starting point. Another thing to keep in mind is that Qatar has a tendency to close, partially-close, or divert roads all the time so keep that in mind too. I have a few serious biker friends so can ask them for more details if you want. Edit - well these guys did it I guess.. Mind you, I'm assuming they had folding bikes they allowed on the metro. https://www.iloveqatar.net/qatar202...g-bike-team-visits-8-world-cup-stadiums-qatar
Friends, it appears that Qatar Air is slowly adding flights from UAE during the start of the tournament. Last week they added an additional flight from Dubai. Today they just added an additional flight from Abu Dhabi. I just booked AUH > DOH one way on a newly added flight for around $400 on Sunday the 20th. The flight leaves at 11:30p which is ideal for me as I will be attending the Grand Prix earlier that day and the track itself is really close to the airport - other flights were at odd time slots. Interestingly, Qatar usually flies the A320 on this route but this specific flight will be flown by the wide body B777. Good news for us, of course. The Dubai flight added last week is also using a wide body.
good news for those that didnt book like me... my preferred route was LAX - UAE - DOH... but such is life. I'm going via Cairo and it can't be that bad.
Had an email this morning from British Airways saying they’ve cancelled my flight and booked me on the next one instead (30 mins after) with Qatar airways. Happen to anyone else?
Cairo is a much more interesting tourist destination than Dubai or Abu Dubai, for me. I have been to the the UAE, and the UAE cities are very much like Doha, as far as I can tell, not having been to Doha yet. But I have been to Cairo, and it is very different, and more interesting as far as I am concerned.
I am seeing a lot of availability on the official accommodation portal, I guess it depends on the dates are you looking at and what type/size of accommodation.
Qatar Airways prices are starting to drop... Good news! I'm still hesitating whether to book my flight now or wait a bit more. For those of you travelling with their kids: think of registering them on the Students Club of the company, they get a 10% discount on their first flight. 15 on their second and 20 on their third
My return flight out of Doha got moved back 2 hours (later in the morning). I’m guessing they’re doing some scheduling or capacity adjustments
