I am kinda surprised by this board's skepticism about Salah. The man is a phenomenal player, possibly only bested by Mbappe in terms of ability and production on that position. Hes the only remaining true superstar in terms of name and ability. And I haven't seen a decline in his ability so far. Yes he is 30, but Benzema is 35 and he is worldclass. Things have changed in recent years about the meaning of age for players.

At the price of up to 100 million Salah would be a coup and would be a massive boost for this team, turning it from a fringe CL contender to the favorite. I would be thrilled if we got him. It would be a much better signing than second level stars like Gnabry or Mahrez. Remember, we not only need to sign a great attacker, but we also need to salvage reputation after the Mbappe fiasco. We need both substance and style.

At the same time, Rodrygo is on the cusp of being elite at this point. His chemistry with Benzema and Vinicius is great. What he needs is to be an established starter like Vini. So instead of a global megastar like Salah, or mid tier veteran like Mahrez who would block his minutes, I would get a talented youngster that will be behind Rodrygo in the hierarchy and would get 15-20 games in the season, the majority from the bench. This is the Camavinga way after all.

That player for me is Jeremy Doku. Natural RW, only 19 years old and has already shown that he can play at the highest level. In fact, I believe he is the most naturally gifted young player in the world after Mbappe. Thats right, even more than Vinicius and Rodrygo, as insanely talented as they are. Honestly this kid looks like he was born to play football. He has such fluid moves and advanced instincts, and seems hes perfectly aware how good he is based on his confidence and approach to the game.

The only problem is injuries, but this could be a blessing in disguise as it would lower his price. With the medical team we have and the patient development allowing Rodrygo to settle in the RW starting spot, it is not an overly risky move. And he is coveted, people know him from the Euro, Klopp was all over him, big clubs follow him. He would be a junior Galactico of a sort.

Sorry for the long post, but I would love to get some thoughts on this. In a way not getting Mbappe has opened so many possibilities, theres so much talent out there that we simply need to scout heavily and probe different options to find a bargain. My choice would be Doku.

Vinicius needs a major leap to get to where Mbappé is. Vinicius is having a great season, but for me it won't be a surprise if he doesn't match or exceed it next year. Still needs to work on his finishing and movement of the ball.

Not arguing that Case shouldn’t have played that game though, in fact I’ve said many times that Case’s form has been good in the second half of the season, he’s actually the least of our problem among the KMC atm, so you’re arguing against something I’ve not said.
What I said is that Carlo doesn’t rotate much and he does it less so than Klopp, that’s just the truth.
I don’t need to be convinced that Tchouameni should join us, I’ve been asking for his signings for months, but I do have my doubts about whether HE would want to come in a world cup year.
Say what you will but Our KMC are much more untouchable than the Liverpool midfield, they simply are, Klopp has more room to wiggle in at that club than Carlo does at ours hence he has more freedom to piss off his vets.

Let’s hope Tchouameni joins us, because like Camavinga he’s going to be a great midfielder to have for many many years to come.

I don't think Mbappe is Spanish.

We never reached personal terms with Mbappe then. Just had the bid accepted by Monaco. Narrative then was he didn't want to leave France at 18 though PSG had offered twice as much as we did in wages.

The fact that he was negotiating with Liverpool despite giving his word that he'd join Madrid tells you everything you need to know about this kid.

Would be so good if Perez came out and states that Mbappe will NEVER play for us.

Never seen anyone so undeserving of wearing the White shirt.

He doesn't give a shit about playing for Madrid in the future. Not sure he gives a shit about winning individual accolades anymore either. It's why I think he'd even go to Barcelona if they offered the best deal. Heck he grew up watching Ronaldinho! :D

Shame Perez didn't read the signs earlier and shut this circus down.

Fabinho is younger than Casemiro, Henderson is Liverpool’s captain and Thiago is a guaranteed starter right now.
How is it harder to get into our starting midfield?

Which is it? He never talked money or our offer was identical to PSG's offer?

Doku is super skillful, but worried about adding another inexperienced forward to the front 3.

I believe he said only his agent and mom talked money, he's being a weasel when he says that however since they speak on his behalf.

You people, don't want young, don't want old... make up your mind lol.

I'm not sure that after three seasons and more than 100 appearances with the first team, Rodrygo can still be considered inexperienced. We should want to make him a full time starter on the right wing. And to be honest, not sure about Doku either, having played 10 matches with the Belgian senior NT, and especially seeing how polished his game is.

Though apparently he stated a while ago that he isn't moving this summer because there wouldn't be enough time to adapt to the new club before the World Cup and that might hurt his chances to make the national team. This could be a problem regarding other potential signings, although, I don't exactly see how signing for Real Madrid hurts your selection chances...

It seems like he's talked more about Real Madrid than PSG since his renewal. If using our name to milk more money out of Qatar wasn't enough, he's now spouting straight up lies along with Nasser and his mom to clean up his image as a money grabber. And that won't be the end of it, he's going to keep bringing up Real Madrid every chance he gets because who wouldn't like free leverage? And PSG have 0 self respect they don't seem to care in the slightest. Can you imagine a Real Madrid player talking about another club like that every chance he gets?

Might be a petty thing to do but I would really like it if the club issued a statement after the CL Final explaining their side of the story, before making it clear that we will no longer pursue this player in the future. It's time to put an end to this saga and move on.

I think we’re probably saying the same thing. Bad deals just to satisfy the transfer itch? Hell no. But I also wouldn’t refrain from sensible deals or emphasize stop gaps just to look multiple years down the line. I’d love to have Haaland or the next big star but that possibility should have zero bearing on our summer. This is no longer a transition, we are in “win now” mode.

I'd prefer if the club didn't even acknowledge him. Don't give this situation any attention or validation and don't start wining or throwing tantrums with official communications. The player chose to renew with his previous club and barring some breach of contract that the player is trying to ignore, there's no reason to address anything publicly. We have business to attend to between the CL final and bringing in players that actually want to be here.

Maybe in the future Perez does one of his candid interviews and he addresses it there but as an institution we need to handle things with class because God knows neither Mbappe nor PSG are going to.

Ive seen Doku play like twice but he definitely left a positive impression. Passed the eye test for me.

I would still want someone more established than Rodrygo. He’s hit an exceptional run of form and I believe in the kid. I just worry he’s wasted on the right.

Agree. Not a word about him, like he doesn’t exist, is the only right play here.
