I don’t think that is 100% certain, but likely yes. I don’t rule it out.

When he realizes that the story about his decision to stay at PSG and PSG winning Ligue 1 were only news for one day in yesterday's news cycle and he needs to somehow stay relevant because the next 3 months are all going to be about other player transfers and what Madrid and Liverpool will need to do to stay on top and in front of ManCity and Barca.

    Yep, pretty much.
My dream is that somehow Vinicius takes another step up and makes us all forget about Mbappe. Which is very possible next season.

And honestly it will be so much sweeter to have Vinicius win the BdO, Golden Boot, Pichichi, etc., as a Real product of the club rather some mercenary come in and have it served up on a silver platter at the expense of players who have put their time and work in.

As long as Perez is President, Mbappe will never play for this club. He took the club, the president, the entire back office and the fans for a ride for years. I can't even imagine the amount of work that went on behind the scenes to try and make this deal happen, the concessions we were prepared to make and the ramifications of which could have left a lasting impact on future deals and contract negotiations. All that work and effort for a player that turns around and makes a mockery of everything the club stands for. He better get really comfortable in France because barring a massive change in his priorities, he's never leaving that country.

I heard an interesting theory that Mbappe planned to resign with PSG for quite some time, wanted to keep us off of Haaland and wait until the CL final to disrupt us, all in lock step with the Emir of Qatar. That’s some pretty deep level conspiracy shit, but……

I'd believe that if they didn't just give him a $350ME pay package and the keys to their whole operation... allegedly of course.

Not only that, but the rumors that Real Madrid offered him somewhere between 80-100% image rights is absolutely mad. Now that Florentino Perez went there, which previously was unthinkable, future megastars will demand the same of our team. He has done some irreparable damage not only to our reputation, but to our negotiation hardline has been redrawn for the foreseeable future. The next team with a coveted superstar will demand somewhere close to 150-200 million euros, whether it's justifiable or not because they know Florentino has money in reserves that he saved up to fund Mbappe, just for him to backstab us. We also missed out on our plan B because Florentino completely trusted him at his word. That kind of betrayal can never be forgiven. This was done in bad faith. He knew what he was doing and we should've seen it coming when he didn't commit to us after being knocked out of the champions league.

Think about it: His first excuse in January was he didn't wanna distract from the PSG-Real Madrid tie. When that was over, he had nothing left to stop him from signing a pre-agreement and he STILL didn't do it. Florentino put all his faith in him, and completely ignored that Erling Haaland wasn't gonna wait around for Mbappe to decide. Part of the blame is Florentino's for trusting this piece of sh*t. But he's a businessman who is supposed to forecast these kinds of things and prepare for the contingency that this a-hole wasn't going to come. We really didn't have the money to sign both, but we waited way too long because Florentino put complete blind faith on Mbappe's word. Why could Florentino give a hard deadline by Late March/April like he did for a legendary captain like Sergio Ramos, but not do the same for Kylian Mbappe? Once he didn't sign the pre-agreement but an established deadline, we should've said: Thanks for your time, we're moving on.

We got played. Period. I don't care about others, but this is betrayal that I refuse to forgive. He would have to move heaven and earth for me to ever cheer for him in a Real Madrid shirt. I hope it never happens.

Real Madrid has had a long and well-documented history of Galacticos, some hits, others were busts. None of them treated our team the way Mbappe did and then went onto join us. As many publications, journalists and fans have pointed out: Real Madrid doesn't come knocking twice. In Mbappe's case we did, so that shit really got thrown out the window for him. If we come knocking a third time, I'm gonna be literally sick. I will fncking throw up.

So even if all of this is true, from a Madridista’s perspective it’s not Mbappe fault, it’s Flo’s.

He'll be received worse than Luis Enrique was as a player the next time PSG plays at the Bernabeu.

    The charade is over.

It is both their faults. Florentino could have avoided this by setting an ultimatum that he has given far more illustrious players and then stuck to it. Instead we played Mbappe's game. This wound would've been salved if we had planned better.

I defend Florentino Perez through some questionable decisions. But this one is indefensible. He IS smarter than that. He's a Billionaire, construction magnate who runs the biggest club in the world. He has negotiated dozens of difficult transfers and he is expected to be wiser than this. I am sure he is as appalled as we all are, but he's the one who is now left moping up a mess by some 23 year old Frenchman. His own reputation has taken a massive hit.

If Mbappe never intends to play for Madrid, then I can see why he and his camp did what they did. They played a long game and nuked any serious chance he had of coming here in order to get a king's ransom out of PSG. The unfortunate part about it is we overplayed our hand, were too fixated on him and never really considered that he'd go through the lengths he did only to break his word. It really is a teachable moment for everyone at the club, Perez very much included.

PSG's Leonardo told to clean out his office. The new owner of PSG has made his first executive decision. Good for them.

Looks like PSG are going back to their favorite feeder team. At least let them enjoy their moment in the sun a few more days, PSG. They were JUST celebrating an indirect transfer snub as a title win.

I think Mbappe lives in a total echo chamber and signed a 3 year deal because he and his crew are actually nuts enough to believe that he can make the switch two years from now.

I had posted last year that this was the exact scenario I was worried about — a truly ridiculous short term offer to keep him there through the World Cup. He’s dumb though, because he could’ve easily achieved the same result without burning his bridges. My honest prediction is Mbappe is a Barcelona player in 2024.

This is not the first time Flo’s gotten burned lately after basically telegraphing to the world that he wanted one player and one player only: the Hazard deal was similarly mishandled and we overpaid massively. Just as a matter of negotiation I don’t get it, you set yourself up to get burned.

Good. That's two extra chances for Real Madrid to put his team to the sword.

I don't see Florentino Perez ever going in with a bid again for him unless it's a straight buyout clause inserted into his contract that is less than 100 Million Euros. If it's another eyewatering price, Florentino won't even entertain it if he has any intention to preserve our reputation. In fact, even with a buyout, it's possible Florentino will not go for it unless we are truly desperate.

My hopes is that Florentino and the club come out of this galvanized and smarter. We make better choices on whom to pursue and never overextend for a player who acts he is bigger than any club. That player wanted the keys to the kingdom. That's not how it works in Real Madrid. In a few years we might even see this as a blessing.

You are all making statements based on emotions. The sports world is a weird one, who know what will happen in 2-3 years. Main thing is right now the club takes the L, but dusts themselves off and moves on to further strengthen a team that already has a lot going for it.

Showed a massive lack of ambition or sheer naivety. But the problem with moving to Barca or anywhere else in 2-3 years or
even more unlikely us is his wages. If he's truly on 50ME a year net, who can even come close to that on a 5-6 year contract without completely destroying their wage structure or the financial stability of their entire organization? He'll need to cut his wages in half before he can even think about entering into a discussion with any other club but maybe he'd have made enough money by then that he and his camp may actually choose on the field success as their core focus.

I don't agree with Alejandro Moreno often. But in this case I 100% agree with him.
I hope we don't go back for him. He can run down his 3 year contract without us waiting around like the sun revolves around him. If he's on the market in three years (because who are we kidding, he's in a prison team until then), and he wants to play for a reasonable wage with no strings attached, maybe, MAYBE we'll consider it. But if he wants to play games again, we're not interested whatsoever. He can use Barca, Liverpool, Juve or whoever the hell else is interested to be his negotiation leverage. Come clean, or don't come at all. Because nobody any longer believes he really wants to be here. He's a pesetero until he proves otherwise. That stink will be hard to get off.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope Vini Jr and Rodrygo go onto become the superstars we know they can be. Madridistas all over will shower them with love like never before. I also hope we find the next generational talent that isn't solely interested in oil money and actually follows through on their dreams of putting on our shirt. It has happened before, and it will happen again, InshAllah. The latest of which was Eduardo Camavinga. They maybe harder to find than before, but they're out there. Just that thought alone makes me smile. :)

Sid is giving the mother's comments about the similar offers way too much credence if he thinks we'd even be able to match what he's rumored to be receiving (not just financially but whatever that whole "influence" thing is supposed to be). Secondly, as expensive as Mbappe would have been, he does address the most glaring issue with the squad which is the RW which is something we're still going to have to sort out now but with less desirable options (unless Rodrygo has a Vjr breakout season next year). Third, there was no indication that signing Mbappe would have prevented us from sorting out the other issues in the squad financially, it seemed more if the club felt it was even necessary in the first place.

I've been reading some of the reactions from Madridistas and you can tell they're hurting. Many fans were very excited and emotionally invested in this transfer (including myself it seems). But it's time to move on and focus on the big game in less than a weeks time. A champions league awaits us and we need to focus on supporting our favorite team and put all the bad feelings behind us. I hope the players avoid and ignore all the noise surrounding this and remain completely focused on the task at hand.

This season was supposed to be a "in between" season for us, where at the beginning we were pondering if we could comfortably win the league with minimal reinforcements in the summer. But Sid Lowe is right. This team has far exceeded even our most optimistic expectations. Real Madrid won the league by a pretty healthy margin and most importantly, against all odds, finds itself on the cusp of winning a record extending 14th Champions league.

Part of me is excited, part of me is nervous. I hope and pray we win. All Madridistas NEED this to pick us up emotionally. Like I said, nothing salves a wound like a trophy that money cannot buy. Hala Madrid!

Brother, I always respect that you take the high road, but Mbappe can't be trusted.

He can never be negotiated with in good faith ever again. Some would like to blame Flo, but I simply can't. The man is old school. He's Vito Corelone. He's firm but always fair. This kid has betrayed his trust and spit on the history of this institution. If we were a lesser club and turtles weren't on the endangered species list, the next time he'd come to the Bernabeu I could see fans pelting him with turtle shells.

The worst part of this is that we missed out on Haaland, the player I wanted more than Mbappe. Scoring wingers are in vogue but a CF of Haaland's caliber is an absolute rarity in world football. He would have complimented Vini and Rodrygo far better than Mbappe would have.
