Espinoza and Voloder are back from suspension, Salloi and Fontas are suspended. Vujnovic is on the injury list as questionable.
The way Vujnovic went down, I thought it was a season ending injury. It's a bit surprising he's questionable less than a week later
Is the broadcast blurry for anyone else when there is faster action? I was watching soccer this morning and didn’t have this, so hopefully not my TV.
I've noticed the blurry picture a number of times this year. I'm currently watching the match on ESPN+ so I can't verify the current SKC feed quality. I'm also missing Nate on the PXP.
Q-Collar. A buddy of mine who is an Earthquakes fan said he had substantial concussion issues last year.
It was bad for me too until the 19th minute or so, then it cleared up. I'm using the SKC app on a firestick.
Melia playing well. Duke with a nice assist to Russell's goal. Need to defend a bit better in the 2nd half and get a few more SOG's. Nice to see us ahead at the half.
After a mostly garbage first half with Melia being the busiest guy on SKC, Duke and JFR combine for a goal. At least PV actually changed the formation to stay in a mostly defensive mode with a 4-1-4-1. Ugly soccer so far.
Good but mostly boring first half. So happy for the San Jose keeper to overcommit like he did and make that goal so easy for Cam and Jonny.
I'm guessing SKC is using the SJ feed which is what I'm watching on ESPN+. No blurring here but when the ball is on the sun side the camera aperture never seems to adjust and is it hard to see.
It's more like an encoding/decoding capacity issue. Still or video with little movement is crystal clear. A ball gets kicked or the shot pans, and any part of the view with lots of movement goes all blurry and jittery.
SKC coming out of San Jose with a draw shows you how bad the Quakes are. SKC looked slow, tired and generally disorganized. I can’t fault them too much seeing that beat up lineup and bunker formation. They were very lucky to come away with a point. But lastly, if PV keeps throwing JFR in there every game and play him a full 90, he will be likely be injured for the rest of the season.
Watched on ESPN+. No problems except the terrible camera work with the aperture settings and questionable camera director work.
I'll take the point, it wasn't pretty, but given the players available for tonight when the lineup was announced I'll take the point.
yeah, the video quality is bad, as it was last game. was like i was watching it on a 15hz television.
I will 'take the point' but I don't have to like it. That was clearly two points lost. There was nothing wrong with the lineup. I have seen all of the SKC players on the field tonight play up to and exceed any standard needed to play in MLS. Yes there were players in odd positions. Yes there were young players. Yes our players are tired. They get paid to play and this game was theirs for the taking. I am not a fan of a a bunker/counter strategy but in the first half it worked against San Jose. And they scored late to take the lead and the momentum into the half. Ya know, early in the Livestrong Park era as I sat in my seat, I often wondered what Peter said to the guys in the locker room to make the 2nd half so much more electric than the first. Draw your own conclusions. And yes rest JFR he has earned it and everyone needs a rest every now and then.
The video was blurry at the same times mentioned here even on Spectrum cable so streaming wasn’t the issue.
I am pleased with a point, at this point. after all, We're number 25! We're number 25! So, I grab my stats off the MLS page and today the MLS page isn't listing the SJ-SKC. Listing all the others. I think that says something. Still, I can't do a stats breakdown. FWIW (not much) Doyles take on SKC at this point in the season: They still press a bunch (though they’re dialing it back way more often now), but when that first line of pressure gets broken they tend to be in a world of hurt. Peter Vermes has started churning through the roster trying to look for potential answers, and to be fair guys like Cam Duke and Kortne Ford have provided some nice moments. I have to believe that at some point, Doyle got racked over the coals by PV for an SKC take, because every week is low hanging fruit and shallow observations on SKC, more than any other club in the MLS. Maybe this is a sad reality when they're owned by the league, that owns the teams.
Doyle goes for low hanging fruit on a lot of teams, mainly because he doesn't actually have time to watch all the games but is still required to put thoughts out on all the games each week shortly after the last game of the week finishes. This past week we barely pressed in either game, not a bunch. We sat back more than we've done at any time since the road trip to start the 2011 season when PV adjusted the way the team played to try to get some results on the road. I know I'm coming off defending Doyle, I get tried of the shallow takes as well, but I can't totally blame him given all the teams in the league and how many more are more exciting and playing better than us and in larger media markets.
