Yep. Haven't played on the road since June 14, 2017, at North Carolina FC. 10 straight home games after that. Since the Dynamo opened their stadium in May of 2012 they have played 18 of their 21 Open Cup games at home.
I don't know how logistically appealing this would be, or if it's even possible schedule-wise, but it would be cool to have 4 games each on the 24th and 25th with start times for all 4 one hour apart. Using EDT, Northeast game at 7. Southeast at 8. Central at 9. West at 10.
Due to the league schedule on Wednesday, May 18, (10 MLS games) most MLS teams are playing on Sunday, May 22 (10 MLS games). Playing on Tuesday was not going to work. That's why all the Open Cup games are on Wednesday, May 25.
That said, the games on May 25 are fairly staggered. Five start times for the 8 games. The likelihood of extra time and penalties mean that end times might be all over the place.
2022 Canadian Championship Home team first, times are ET All games streaming on OneSoccer Quarterfinals: Tuesday, May 24 HFX Wanderers (CPL) v. Toronto FC (MLS) 6:00 pm Pacific FC (CPL) v. York United (CPL) 10:00 pm Wednesday, May 25 CF Montreal (MLS) v. Forge FC (CPL) 7:00 pm Cavalry FC (CPL) v. Vancouver Whitecaps (MLS) 9:00 pm Semifinals are June 21-23. Final will be in July.
Always root for the underdog. Unless they're playing your team. (Though I'll admit that even then, I root for them giving my team a run for the money.)
Halifax are losing at home to Chesterfield. Hopefully it won't go to penalties otherwise they'll never get to Nova Scotia in time.
Former Open Cup winner still in the running to bag another: New England (1) Kansas City (4) Houston (1) LAG (2) That KC - Houston match is the only one between former winners. A whole lot of opportunities for a new Cup winner. Red Bull (2) and Minnesota (1) have been in the final before.
I have to say that I'm finding it a little disturbing how many kids of players I remember are now in MLS. Is it also true in the NWSL?
Probably not, especially since women's pro soccer has been so start and stop, but we do have Dennis Rodman's daughter in that league so it's not too far fetched to think we'll start seeing the daughters of WUSA and especially WPS players at some point soon.
Plus, the female players that you recognize tend to have children later. Osaze de Rosario was born when Dwayne was 23; not many high-end athletes give birth that young.
Pacific FC with a goal at the very end of stoppage time (and maybe then some) to tie it 2-2. About 10 seconds before that Calgary tied Edmonton in their NHL game on a 100+ foot shot.
It's funny watching the fans walk back into the stadium and down to their seats for the shootout in Langford.
