Rafael Leao would also be a fantastic signing. Very Mbappesque player. Although he's also more adept on the left.

I don't really get why people rate Bundesliga players as better than Serie A. Lautaro Martinez is a beast. Tonali as well for the DM position. Theres a lot of great players in Europe. The fixation on Mbappe was becoming more and more unhealthy the longer it lasted. Glad its done one way or another.

Leao is very good but plays on the left.

I believe he left PSG on bad terms too. He will be motivated to shine at RM while Mbappe stays in at a small time club. Last I checked, Ligue 1 overall foriegn TV deal was worth a whopping 60 ME. Neymar's gross wages is more. Imagine Mbappe believing people actually watch him outside of CL games. Deluded.

I get the feeling that, like Camavinga, Tchouameni actually wants to join Madrid and if he we become serious about him ( according to ABC es we are ) he will join.

would be incredible if it happens, a double pivot of him and Camavinga would give us so many possibilities, both excellent on and off the ball which great passing range, good in the air as well. You can unleash Fede in front of them or play with 4 attackers even.

I hope PSG returns to their old shut up and play ways now that Mbappe has renewed. Him making them sign top French talents would be bad news for RM especially given that Spain has rarely produced top talents since their golden era. Al K should keep running PSG.

Just on the Nkunku talk, I like his style of play, he looks a neat player.

Two things I’d add though as doubts in my mind, this season is the first he’s scoring more than 6 goals in a league campaign. However he had played more of a midfield role in previous years.

The other is his price, he has 2 years left and plays for a cash rich club, just won player of the season. The price is going to be at the €80m mark after the season he’s had, that would be my guess.

    Expensive.

I really thought he was more ambitious than this which is why until yesterday I didn’t for a second think he’d renew lol but hey it’s alright, Neymar pulled the same stuff( although in his case he went to a great club in Barca) then we signed Bale and went on to win 4 CLs.
    Mbappe will regret his decision.

RB also has a history of keeping players another in such situation by renewing them with a buyout clause for next summer. They did that with Keita, Werner and Upamecano.

PSGs investment on Mbappe is around 500 million by now and still absolutely no better than what they were before he arrived

    that is the harsh truth

Personally Gabriel Jesus was already very high on my list and he’s an absolute must have now if he’s available at a reasonable price.

Club really needs to be shrewd here IMO. Everyone knows our pockets are flush and that the club is going to be hungry for an attacker.

On the topic of City players I’d also consider Sterling or as has been mentioned frequently Mahrez. Think both have a skill set that translates well to La Liga. (I’m not convinced there’s any real chance of Bernardo Silva leaving.)

Problem is several of the best targets are City players are their cule brass is not going to want to do us any favors.

People need to remember that Galactico signings have a built-in discount in Flo's calculations due to the revenue they bring in afterward from image rights sharing, TV deal negotiations, international tour sales, overall branding, etc, so we don't simply have an equal amount to now spend on lesser players --- our revenue has suffered from the covid lockdowns and restrictions like everyone else.

Regarding Nkunku, could be a great signing, but like @Doni said, definitely won't come cheap -- Bundesliga POTY puts him in some pretty good company:

^ Someone on Wiki must have edited in Kroos because he was playing for RM in 2018.

Edit: Nevermind. It's not a Bundesliga award. Something like an award Bundesliga Players or the best German player abroad can win.

I agree, brought up Jesus a few weeks ago. Order of priority should be:
    1. Tchouameni
    2. Finding someone to compete with Rodrygo on the right. Preferably someone who is an established creator.
    3. Back up ST
    4. RB if opportunity presents itself.

This stings because Mbappe the player would have been a great fit for us, too bad Mbappe the man proved not to be worthy of our shirt after all. At least we dodged getting a player who signed not because he wanted to play for the club, but because we were the club who bent over the most to get him.

Most hilarious because he is a former PSG youth player who left for playing time I think.

Hindsight is a crazy thing. Who would’ve thought the Haaland saga would be a fairly straight forward transfer while Mbappe renews with the golden prison?

You mean Cmapos is the part time sporting director with Mbappe the other part time sporting director? [emoji23]

Nkunku works well up the middle combining with teammates with quick passing movements then using his burst to break lines. I didn’t watch him every week, but anytime I saw him play he caused tons of danger and definitely stuck out. I have no idea if he is available or maybe lined up with another club. But I would hope we’d take a look if his skill set is valued.

Wish we could give Flo a ring and tell him "chin up, onward and forward".

I won't lie, it would be sweet to get a PSG youth to come and be what we hoped Mbappe would be... and exceed Mbappe on all fronts.

Liverpool are already transitioning with Jota and Luis Diaz, something tells me one of Mane or Salah are going to shake free this summer.

Not a fan of Nkuku for 80 million. He’s 25 and just had his first breakout season. Pass.

If both play the market like Mbappe did, Pool might have to choose one for mega renewal. But transfer fee will be crazy high which is a risk due to their age.

Another angle to this: it’s a nail in the coffin for the galactico method of team building.

For years we could assume that the biggest names would want to play here because of the combination of our financial offers and who we are. It was sort of self-reciprocating — getting one big fish set a precedent that helped attract the next big fish.

That’s over now. We will still be a very attractive destination but it is unlikely we will ever pull off something like bringing CR to the club in 2009 ever again.

Club now has to be smarter than ever. You can’t just assume you can buy the best players anymore. You have to scout extremely well, pick your spots, and execute.

Admittedly that thought would’ve made me very very nervous a few years ago but thankfully I think there are lots of signs that Flo has adapted somewhat. And while we haven’t been producing a lot of elite level talent, our cantera is still the best or close to it. And the simple fact is that there isn’t a CR/Messi level player out there, and there may not be for another 30 years for all we know.

I guess what I’m saying is, if you want to feel a little better, just think about how damn smooth Eduardo Camavinga is.

Id be open to either of those guys. It’s got to be at the right price though. That’s the huge catch in all of this.
