I'll start by saying we really need to improve our defensive game and hope our new medical staff is an upgrade on what we've had for the past seven years.
BVB and Rose are parting ways. Both a bit unexpected but also not the biggest surprise after an underwhelming season. I didn't expect the club to pull the trigger that fast after being patient for too long with Favre. So we payed 5 million to get him out of his Gladbach contract and there'll probably be significant costs now as well. I assume the club already have another coach in mind but I have no clue who we should get. Given the recent MO, it has to be Gladbach's ex Hütter. Many coaches left or were fired recently. Among them Weinzierl and Hoeneß,
Appointing Gladbach coaches has been a big fail. Back to a Mainz coach (Svensson) instead this time or maybe Terzic?
I'm really surprised! Especially because we stuck 2.5 seasons with Favre, and Rose is much better than Favre IMO. I do think that Rose wasn't the right appointment in the first place. But the coaches I want seem to not be on the management's radar in the first place. I have no idea who they will hire now? Are they going for another Klopp-to-be-discovered? That's not a winning strategy.
Dang.. I hope it's not Terzic. I thought he did a great job rallying the players, but I still think he's a bad coach, judging by his game-time decision making, and the fact that he continued to play Favreball. And it's not like he spent a year getting more coaching experience.
You know, I kind of like the Terzic appointment. I think he should have been given the job full time instead of the club hiring Rose to begin with. He knows the club, the youth players especially, and sO I think their thinking is thaT Terzic will act as a bridge for the youth players to make their way into the first team. And I also think a lot of the reason why Rose was sacked, was his handling of Moukoko... I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Rose sacking was a way of placating Moukoko into signing an extension with the club, with the gaurantee of playing time under Terzic. Rose really mishandled his players, playing players out of position in Can and Brandt, and totally ignoring others in Moukoko. I don't dislike the appointment, I don't think Terzic is the best of coaches, but he can certainly grow into the role, and I like the attacking football even though the tactcs seem to be a little off sometimes. I will reserve judgeement for seasons end...
Hard for me to judge Terzic. I thought that overall, we played good football under him and I also saw differences to the Favre ball with more gegenpressing. While the cup win and securing the CL spot were successes, it needs to be said that his record isn't even close to being good enough to challenge for the title and it's not better than Rose's. Terzic will also have to prove himself without a Haaland and Sancho. I think Rose would have done better with the new players that are coming in now. Generally, going back to Terzic feels like the recent coaching decisions were rushed and they'll look like idiots again if Terzic doesn't work out. I think the club made the decision to part ways with Terzic too early and they could/should have waited a few more weeks before getting Rose. I agree 100% that Rose mismanaged the young talents. But given the recent behavior by the management, can you really blame a coach that he also emphasizes the short term success when his job is on the line? I had the same impression with Favre in his second year: He was in survival mode, focused on getting the result one game at a time with the safest choices.
We need a top coach. Period. Even if we currently don't have superstars. We're in a good position with our squad with the new additions, and with hopefully a few more to come. Enough with the German language requirement. I understand the need for cohesion and club culture, but this is not how to make it happen. Ancelotti coached Everton for a year, why wouldn't someone of that caliber come to BVB? They're making the same mistake they made by appointing Favre to a coach an amazing squad.
I welcome this decision. Rose completely flopped the easiest CL group we have ever been in, disregarded Moukoko/Knauff as viable options for the first team and mishandled others. Our attacking play progressed, yes, but our defence was shambolic at best. This is a normal decision, IMHO, Rose just did not show anything special. And I wholeheartedly agree that the German language requirement for the coach at BVB is utter BS. Whoever thought that this is a good idea should be sued, whoever implemented it should be behind bars as well. This is completely ridiculous and unneeded. Yes, Terzic would be the logical choice, not the best one, but the logical one. But Dortmund needs a top coach. There are some awesome options out there - Zidane, Nuno Santo, Bielsa. I would definitely go for one of those three.
Those are my biggest criticisms of Rose as well. When has a second place conceded 52 goals in a season? Not only did we lose the big games, we were soundly humiliated. If there's one head coach I would hire it's Simeone, as he would instill some much needed defensive solidity in the team, though I also fear he would do so at the expense of our free flowing attack.
Lol!! The guy would rarely pick any BvB players for the Mannschaft but now he would want to coach them? But it is a good troll attempt!
I hope he meant to write Rose instead of Terzic as the latter actually played the kids consistently. He started Knauff against Mn City in the CL.
Terzic has been announced as a manager till 2025. We are not going to win anything serious (league title or CL) with Terzic as a manager. I won't be surprised if we struggle to finish in top 4. I really hope he was involved in all the transfers we have made so far, else this has to be the worst blunder by Watzke and co.
Terzic was the technical director this season. No idea what that means for his involvement in putting the team together but he shouldn't be out of the loop. I'd say let's wait and see. I like all new signings, they fit and should improve our style of football. At the very least, I'm confident to see attractive, faster football again.
