I like how our players have taken offence to the game Mbappe and his family played. I hope that makes us extra sharper and resilient against Liverpool. If we win this CL we won't be thinking of how these guys tried to play our club like fools.
This was always bound to happen, unfortunately. First, the fact that he didn't really force his way out last summer. He always talked about "respect", not wanting to offend PSG etc. And second, his family which is obviously a huge influence. I still cannot fathom how one of the best players in the world can gift the best years of his career to a club playing in a non-competitive league where he simply cannot build a legacy. This will be exacerbated if PSG doesn't win the CL during his years there. If you don't compete against the best, you simply don't enter the conversation about the best players, the best teams. I can understand when a player chooses City or Chelsea, but PSG - it's a poorly run club in an average league. But, it is what it is, he is not the first to throw away his career or the first to choose money over competition, prizes, legacy.
Hakimi is another manipulative snake btw. Said this all along ever since his agent was putting pressure on RM publicly saying he will only return after Dortmund loan if he has an important role, then blaming ZZ for him joining Inter. Then Hakimi started acting like he was desperate to stay everytime he talked to Spanish media. Loved it when Vini made him a total non factor in the Bernabeu game. Apparently his wife chose Paris over Chelsea for him last summer because of her acting career. She's 10 years older than him and takes career decisions for him. No wonder he's best friends with the other manchild at PSG. [emoji23]
With the mom & pops getting involved, I bet they started talking about setting up family, Mbappe's future children's children, extended family, extended families' children, all for life. And then add some guilt-tripping about "you could build a wing of a children's hospital in starving Africa, think of the sick dying children! And it's only three years of playing football for a club that will give you everything....etc etc." People can always convince themselves that they could use more money.
I don’t really care that much and I encourage folks here to move on and don’t hold any grudge with the player. He did what he thinks is best for him and his family and that is that. He is most likely wrong but you can’t convince everyone that playing for Real Madrid is the best thing in the world.
🚨🎖| sources close to the situation believed that the Haaland’s preference earlier this year was to join Real Madrid. But Madrid’s fixation on Mbappe had a knock-on effect. @TheAthleticUK— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 21, 2022 And the manipulative Mbappe clan would have put the blame on RM focusing on Haaland for him staying at PSG. We were screwed once we trusted Mbappe's RM dream BS.
Tchouameni and Nkunku might be a possibility especially with Benz, Camavinga and Benz at RM. We should ask ZZ what he thinks of Nkunku's potential.
^ mentioned him last week and that’s who I’d go after if the price isn’t wacky. Guy is dynamic and game is still growing. Fun as hell to watch. Read a rumor Campos will be PSG’s new Sporting Director. Wonder if that hurts our chances at Tchouameni? Would still like a vet for backup striker. Benz is in fire but is older and we need someone who can step in and handle pressure up too while putting away more chances than they miss.
I have seen the highlights... just want more depth from people who see him week-in-week-out. Like infor about how he used to be a midfielder and adapted to being a striker. Yeah I remember stuff like this. Still it's one-offs. I didn't actually follow him weekly
Exactly. How does it make a difference to you if you get 30 million euro per season, or a 100 for example. I mean at that point it just becomes irrelevant, thats how filthy rich you are. Why don't you get that insane money AND fulfill your childhood dream. This was the ultimate money grabbing act, when combined with the playing the clubs against the other. Seriously Mbappe is so much of what is wrong in society these days.
He can play anywhere across the front 3, Deschamp has been using him on the right for example but at Leipzig he mainly plays through the center although he has been used on the flanks there on occasion, against City for example he played on the right.
It's a trend to belittle all non Haaland young Bundesliga scorers after Jovic and Werner flopped elsewhere. But we shouldn't forget Son and Firmino were really underrated while in Bundesliga and were great pick ups for Pool and Spurs. I haven't seen much of Nkunku so can't judge. Just saying club shouldn't have Bundesliga distrust just because of Jovic. In his case problem is mentality anyways and he had that at Benfica too. Nkunku's stats this season is crazy and he won player of the league ahead of Lewandowski.
Tchouamen, Nkunku and a serious RB option I think we’re set for a while. We can then just add more pieces as needed.
Who knows... maybe he might be another gem? If his price isn't crazy why shouldn't we jump in? Much better than blowing a enormous sum on some soon to be finished player in a panic. It would also be hilarious if Nkuku came to Madrid and became a great with Mbappe watching him on the sidelines.
I mean there is always that risk, especially when these players move to a big club like Madrid, we had established players like Hazard fail as well so there are no guarantees.
Campos left Monaco years ago. Tchouameni joined after that. So don't think they have any connection. I hope Monaco management grow some balls like Lyon and ask for PSG tax whenever PSG shows interest in their players. Aulas is the boss. [emoji23]
Nkunku Rodrygo Vini would be a very dynamic forward line if it works out, not much height but both Rodrygo and Nkunku score headers regardless. it would be poetic justice if he does come and succeed here, winning big trophies while Mbappe rots in Ligue 1.
