📊| Isco has played zero minutes in the last 7 games, almost 40 days without playing. He's become Ancelotti's last choice in midfield. @diarioas pic.twitter.com/dNc3RGF5B5— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) March 18, 2022
I loved Isco’s style, and he’s had some great moments. I don’t really understand the massive decline at a relatively young age but it’s a really time to move on.
Isco leaves Real Madrid on a free move, Carlo Ancelotti confirms: “Isco's career with Real Madrid ends today. And it's been a great career”. ⚪️🇪🇸 #RealMadrid“He surely could have done more but he's been important. I wish him the best”. pic.twitter.com/8iwKtobcch— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 20, 2022 Much love from all Madridistas for Fransisco Alarcon Suarez, Isco! I have some fond memories of him, as I'm sure many of us do. He was pivotal in some of our CL runs and his work ethic elevated him above James Rodriguez as Carlo and Zizou's preferred player. He may have complained internally, but he rarely made a big fuss about coming off the bench for our team. Ray Hudson used to fondly call him our "Bandy legged bearded beauty". We appreciate his great service to our club. Grande Isco!
^ I just miss seeing him being in shape and in full flight. We didn’t see it enough but he has had some wonderful moments and was a likable player in terms of style for sure. Wish him the best.
One of my favorite players ever, so smooth and elegant. Sad how it all turned out and I will never understand why did he experience such a decline so early.
Isco used to be one of my favorite RM players back in the day and a valuable contributor to the club's success in those years. Wish him the best of luck.
It was so awkward seeing him after the game, Marcelo getting all the love from the players, Betis and the fans, and him completely forgotten. Hope he rediscovers himself wherever he goes.
Isco on Instagram "When I was at Malaga and I knew I had to go, I had agreed to join another team. But Real Madrid knocked on my door and you can't and shouldn't say no to Real Madrid, although there are always exceptions🐢😂..."— The Spanish Football Podcast (@tsf_podcast) May 30, 2022 https://www.instagram.com/p/CeLa3aTqQAc/
Thanks for the memories, Isco. My clearest memory of him was actually not for us, but how he was carrying Spain at the 2018 World Cup. Magician at his best
Overall he was a great player for the club,2014-2018 he was always important either as a starter or the first sub .2015 under Carlos 4-4-2 and 2017 under Zidanes 4-3-1-2 he was unbelievble. There is a reason he won the duel with James,he can dribble and keep the ball unlike James who always strugled in our system except for 2015. Many people expected him to be the new Iniesta but it was almost imposible to reach such heights.Honestly i liked Ozil more but Isco was a better fit in the end and it was the right decicion to be signed.
I think it's a trend - we don't really rely on classic 10's - Isco, Sneijder, Ozil, James, and more recently Odegaard. All had short-lived careers at Real Madrid. I loved his elegance and movement on the ball. Similar to Iniesta in some ways, but of course worlds apart in class. I wish him the best at his next club.
Isco: "I want to thank my teammates, coaches, coaching staff, physios, kit men, workers at Valdebebas and the Santiago Bernabeu for all the work, love and support that everyone needs and I have never lacked. Goodbye and Hala Madrid." pic.twitter.com/5xYwLJvyLo— Football España (@footballespana_) May 30, 2022
Isco's decline has been dramatic and inexplicable. Like at the same time he lost his athleticism and his drive for no apparent reason. One thing I love about Ancelotti is the way he can recognize when players are no longer the same, even his favorites. He doesn't try to revive careers. He got rid of Kaka just as easily in 2014 despite their successes at Milan, and I think he dropped Deco from Chelsea despite winning the title.
Isco disco! legend! bit seems unfair he was in shadow due to Marcelo's farewall! Isco was instrumental for our success in CL. Very good player. Sad for descline in recent years.. but glad we got him 9 years ago.
Isco achieved everything too early, too easy. Still, he had an admirable career and he helped us tremendously at times.
You think it was a lack of ambition? He always seemed to give maximum effort on the pitch, even when he started declining.
Diet is painful for smaller guys, the reason why players like him and Hazard pack on the weight is because they play, travel and live next to guys bigger and larger that simply can afford to pack on the food on their plate. As a Real Madrid related example: Cannavaro was famous for taking the salad bowl for the entire team, putting it in front of himself and stuffing himself full with it. Other players were complaining that this is for everybody and he was allegedly always laughing and saying, no this is for me. Low calorie dense foods at bigger portions are a God send for smaller guys that want to eat a lot.
At his best, absolutely unplayable. Loved watching an inform Isco...probably our most naturally talented playmaker (bar Zizou/Modric) of the last 20 years. Could have done and been much more on the world stage. I remember watching him for Malaga when he first broke out and my biggest fear was that he went to Barca...because he had all the tools to be amazing in that system. Glad we got him! Helped us win A LOT...so also a legend!
He was so good in the season we won the UCL against Juve, simply unplayable, so silken and fluid. It is really sad he is leaving the club when he should have been in his peak, perhaps got something to do with the " Spanish" privilege. However, never a trouble maker , never complained or created ruckus in the dressing room, so massive props to him for being such a wonderful servant to the club, wish him well for his future.
