Not a shock, his best years are firmly behind him not ahead, might as well stay where you are well paid and comfy, let's see how Ten Hag goes about handling him as a player re the team

There is really nowhere for him to go for CL action.

There's only one sheriff in town there. His ego wouldn't allow it.

Dortmund are a publically traded company so titles are basically out of the question. In order to win, you mostly have to operate on a way that doesn't create any profit so that's a problem.

Probably, but that’s the only landing spot for him with CL football that could pay him his wages and he’s going to start most matches. There is a very deep outside shot at maybe AC Milan if they decide to invest heavily with the new owners. But, they would really have to spend on other areas to make the team a contender.

I think from a marketing/career arc storyline framing, teaming up with Messi to win a CL would be not be lost on him. Neither or going to win a Ballon Dor again so the only thing Ron has left would be adding to his CL tally. Winning 6 with 3 different teams would put him as the only one, I think.

I’d put it at a 25% chance, not likely but not entirely shocking either. The attention alone would make him consider it a minimum.

You guysput way too much mustard on all those theories. So far he's committed to Manchester United and i don't really see anything changing that, i also don't think Buffonesque glorychasing does his "career arc" or "framing" any good. It just looks desperate.

Lots of others see it, i don't, i don't see him vastly improving any team that he would go to now, factor in the wages and i imagine any team he goes to would expect him to play a major part in them winning titles, i don't think that's realistic anymore, especially the CL, i could be wrong of course but that's my view

He scored 18 goals this season for a crap team. Put him in a team like Manchester or Bayern Munich, he'll probably score double. Sad to see United destroy this players ambition, even though he towards the end of his career.

He's part of the reason why they are bad to be quite honest. Once they lose the ball he removes himself from the game, zero pressing, all about energy management. That stopped being viable in the early to mid 2000s. We used him as an effective dead ball defender back when he was at his peak in Madrid because when the team recovered the ball he got on his bike and got ahead of everybody else in the same play. You're not going to get this from him anymore.
It's all about defending as a team as much as it is attacking as a team nowadays, and when you don't have the ball you're playing with a player less when Ronaldo is on the team.

Ragninck had pointed this out himself, ironically, before he joined them.

We've played with one less (sometimes two less with Casemiro) with Kroos against tough teams for some time now.

I really wished it ended better with us and Ronaldo tbh.

But his ego wouldn't allow him to be a rotation piece. He would've made a great super sub late in games with his clutchness and set piece ability.

Ronaldo is a liability vs teams from the bottom of the table. He's practically a non factor when he's not on ball. I refuse to believe there is no other player out there to score just as many goals for them while playing a more team oriented game especially at the cost.

That's not even a surprise, he's almost 40. At some point it was obvious he'd decline.

The results and the football this season have been less than satisfying.
At some point they were comfortably 2nd in La Liga and now they're 4th, in the Champions League they had an easy group and finished 3rd.

The difference being that Manchester United just signed one player and the other two are on their last ride towards the sunset with us.

I think Ronnie will do great for himself until he retires, but he's not a part of winning team anymore.

That’s true, frustrating to be a BVB supporter knowing you need a hell of a lot going right to win titles only for it to be dismantled in a season or two.
