I think it's possible for Benz to play at RM until 37 if he stays injury free. He's like the Modric of forwards.

 

Plus he is not greedy like prior legends who left in bad terms to get more money

 

I’m always wary about players in their 30s talking about long term plans. Take it year by year and don’t talk about it in the press.

 

Benz didn't say that to press. Just Marca reporting. Ron said he wants to play until 41 in 2016 which sounded crazy at the time, but still a prolific scorer at 37.

 

Even if he wants to play to 38, I doubt it is for Madrid. He has always said he wants to go back to Lyon and not as a finished player but with something to give back.

 

38yo Benz bangin in a hat trick for Lyon against PSG, takes them back to the CL, comes back to the Bernabeu as a visitor and gets an ovation every time he touches the ball… I like that image.

What a great season that was. It's a shame we don't care about CdR. We had everything to get a treble, especially a great second unit.

 

We never ever cared for the CdR for as far as I can remember unless it is against Barca or sometimes Atleti.

I kinda envy the EPL in that regards, with their importance of the FA Cup.

 

Yep, the Brazilian Cup was kinda like that. Nobody really cared. They changed some things and now it pays a great prize and everyone wants to win it.
Also, the final is usually played after the league ends. So the Cup final becomes this big event, it's pretty cool. I have a soft spot for KO competitions.

I remember writing a post in this thread early into this season about where Benz was in the all time scorer charts for the club.

I’d estimated he’d overtake Raul by the mid point of the 2022/23 season. Not even close.

Karim has been a machine for 4 years running.
