Transfermarkt has some assists not recorded by Whoscored. Not sure if La Liga has official assist tracking, but there are 3 la liga assists which for some reason Whoscored just ignored (one of them being Home v Celta) plus 1 CL assist.
Maybe they define “assists” differently. But like I said the stats don’t even show the full picture, he is a spark and creates so much danger almost every game, as well as his passion and an amazing mentality for such a young age, and those kind of things go beyond statistics.
If you’d tell me at the start of the season that Benzema will have 25 goals and 20 assists this season and Vinicius has half of that, I’d think that’s par for the course. Now, Vini almost has those stats and Karim has nearly 50 goals. Outstanding from both of them, hopefully they stat-pad in the CL final too.
It's a shame the boys had a rough season in attack last season. ZZ could have easily won another league had we been more lethal.
His skill is undeniable but his mentality is something else. Into the pressure cooker from the start with some difficult moments, most would crumble at his age. Kid is something else, winners DNA…can’t be understated how important that is at a club like this.
Vini is the most improved player this year for sure.He improved dramatically his driblling and shooting.Past two season he had awful shooting and finishes. Now its acceptable.
In summary, he is now Real Madrid-level. If he had a season like the previous one, I believe he would be loaned out.

Who here would have thought Vinnie would turn out to be an assist machine? Goalscorer yes, but a 20-20 guy? Not many would have predicted that.
Not me for sure. Not a goal scorer and not an assist machine. I found him mentally weak and not good enough to play for us. I’m happy I was completely wrong. I guess the new market conditions, the new investing strategy, and thid generation of young players (cama, Vinnie, Rodrygo, Valverde…) will change how we see and treat the future youngsters. I have been following the club since 2001 and I’m definitely not used to see young players succeed here. All the promising ones bursted, whether it is injuries or lack of continuity or just not good enough (De la Red, Jese, Drenthe, Robinho, Morata … etc).

I recalled his season or career turned around against Liverpool. At least, I started to feel more comfortable with him. I was worried that he would become another "Denilson" when he scored that first goal. His form did drop after the series.
Vinicius showed in his first season itself that he's one of the most destabilizing wingers in the world. Had blistering pace and skills to beat any defender 1 on 1. That's a rare ability in itself. And he was only 18. Many chose to ignore that and focused only on his finishing issues. Now look at his ceiling with much improved finishing and he's gonna continue to work on his shooting to take it to the next level.
I get your point but we have to score goals to win games no?, you can destabilize all game long for 38 games straight but if we can't finish chances made by that destabilisation we aren't winning any trophies, Add to that the fact that the only regular goalscorer we had at the time was Benz, who desperately needed help and then we can see why i and others were anxious for him to improve on his final ball decision making and his finishing, I can't speak for others but i know for me it was never about ignoring the talent he had from day one, it was about wanting him to grow and be even better, lethal even, as i could imagine how much more that would help the team, now everyone is happy with his progression
It was unfair expectations on an 18 year old who didn't even have that much time to mature in the Brazilian league. I had seen Aguero, Higuain come to La Liga under similar circumstances from Argentina and missing a lot of chances in their first season and then becoming prolific scorers so knew it will be a process. Even Neymar who came to La Liga after ruling Brazil at the age of 21 year scored only 9 goals in league despite having Messi as playmaker. And RM signed Hazard and Jovic to score goals in 2019-20 season. But since both of them ended up as huge flops, it was on Vini's shoulder to mature fast into being #2 scoring option behind Benz.
After his first season, we can all see his talents, but he regressed afterward. He pushed too much pressure on himself and i was concerned if he could not handle the pressure.VJ Real Madrid is not an easy place to be a player.
It's been over a decade since a player in Vinícius Júnior's age bracket (21 and under) produced an attacking season like he just did in La Liga.Piece on his breakout season ahead of a first Champions League final, for @OptaAnalyst: https://t.co/eBUgEDGWiY— Jamie Kemp (@jamiemkemp) May 25, 2022 Great read.
