🚨🎙| @David_Ornstein: "There have been suggestions of a release clause in Erling Haaland's contract, which we will find about soon. It would be designed to potentially satisfy the long held desire of Erling Haaland to represent Real Madrid." #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 9, 2022 Maybe one that can be activated after 3 or 4 seasons?
I see the opportunity cost of not signing Haaland. Summer of 2023 we’re going either make a panic buy on the best option available or overpay for someone.
Ship has sailed for Haaland. No chance he’s coming here unless he winds down his contract and does the Mbappe. He will be 27/28 at that point so hard to find a space for him when we will have Benz/Endrick leading the charge.
Which makes zero sense. We're hearing excuses about the cost and injury worries... If Halaand continues his growth he would be more expensive in terms of wages, bonuses and agent fees. From a purely financial point of view you either get him now or basically never because he isn't running down his contract to come to Madrid.
If we are passing on signing Halaand because we are focusing that money on Bellingham for summer 2023 then all is forgiven PapaFlo upward and onward!
For me, Mbappe, cover at CB and cover at DM would be an excellent summer. Anything more than that (Haaland and/or Tchouameni) and we should be replacing the statue at Cibeles with one of Flo.
That's your doom and gloom scenario since we didn't get Haaland. Could easily be Benz is good enough to start in 2023-24 too alongside Mbappe and Vini.
🚨🥇| Kylian Mbappé informed Real Madrid's leaders last week that NOTHING has changed, he wants to fulfill his dream of playing in Real Madrid next season. @jfelixdiaz— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 9, 2022 🚨🥇| There will be NO meeting between Mbappe's entourage and Real Madrid before the end of Ligue 1. @jfelixdiaz— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 9, 2022 🚨🥇| Mbappe will announce his decision to play for Real Madrid after the end of Ligue 1. @jfelixdiaz— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 9, 2022
The only way Haaland was coming is if Flo persuaded and enamored him enough with the club that he would be willing to be paid tops what Mbappe would make here, which is significantly less than what he was being offered at city. I honestly thought he would pull it off. He didn’t. It was an extremely tall order. But now Flo will basically be obligated to sign some other players 2/3 more which holpefully add actual depth to our squad, And we also loose as much of the deadweight as possible I wonder if haaland saw himself in that blue shirt saying if I was there we would have destroyed RM first 20 min into the first game and kinda felt like he would thrive at city under pep. Seems weird. I can’t see him ever leaving city honestly. Can’t name many players who left city while in their prime or before their prime which I might have wanted for RM. Sane? City is the same as PSG, the difference is their actually functional so players don’t want to leave the golden cage but they are in it just as much.
Im not doom and gloom. I’m being pragmatic. The eye test on Benz is the guy has been playing hurt for the last 3 months. Him holding up logging all of the minutes in the Dec WC year is going nearly impossible. But, yes let’s keep our heads in the sand and pretend that everything is fine. Mbappe will solve everything.
I tried to warn you not to have much hopes of Haaland deal happening but you kept believing in the impossible. Imagine we have to rest Benzema for 12-15 league games next season , tell me how much we will struggle to score in La Liga with Mbappe, Vinicius and Rodrygo.
Haaland to City was clear for a couple of weeks now, from his perspective it makes all the sense in the world, he won’t have to compete with someone like Benzema there, he will make a lot of money and the team he’s joining ain’t bad either. it’s a miss for us but not the end of the word, unless we don’t sign Mbappe then in that case Flo would have some explaining to do.
If Florentino bought Halaand as well then added Bellingham next summer I wouldn't even know what to do with myself. Mbappe-Halaand-Vinicius ‐‐--------Bellingham------------- Camavinga--------Valverde That right there... we would literally pulverize any opponents we kind of take seriously.
Not getting haaland will open money to strengthen other areas of the squad. So it’s not Mbappe will solve everything. what he does solve is our attack to a certain point. If Benz isn’t available you put Rodrygo Vini and Mbappe up top. If 2 of those 4 are injured you play a 442 or you put asensio on. If asensio left and so did bale, and Isco and hazard, it means we’re bringing on another attacking player. Haaland was a luxury buy that was worth getting because there isn’t any other CF nearly as good as him around his very young age. And only a few are better than him all together. That’s it. We don’t NEED the 3rd greatest CF playing along side Mbappe when to top it all off we currently have the Best CF. And don’t get me wrong, I’m gutter we didn’t get haaland and Flo couldn’t persuade him to come. But not really because I thought he was super necessary for the team but more because I like it when we do the unthinkable which happens a lot with this team and getting both would have been a slap in the face to the big oil clubs.
or you put asensio on.
Im guessing you have brain damage suggesting that it’s ok we missed out on Haaland because we have Asensio?
We tend to put the two clubs in a similar category for obvious reasons but honestly I’m inclined to believe City is a more stable, better run institution than PSG is. I don’t think the guys who run PSG could’ve won a truly competitive top league the way City have under three different managers. Seems like a true joke of an operation, and also seems the Qataris may not be there for the long haul. Would be funny if PSG fades into oblivion by the end of the decade.
If this is the motivation you need to deliver the worst thread title ever a few weeks from now when Mbappe becomes official then so be it.
It's not an issue of finances; we're the richest club in the World. Simply put, Perez isn't obsessed with Haaland. This is the same president that bought Xabi Alonso, Cristiano, Benzema, and Kaka in the same transfer window. And I also agree; that once he goes to ManCity it's almost impossible that we will ever sign him. We won't be able to match their wages, etc. And honestly, he's probably the last piece of their puzzle to winning the CL. And if he does win it with them; they'll have found their new 'Aguero' - meaning they'll most likely keep him until hes at the twilight of his career. However, I have a slight hope he has an ego like Eto'o or Ibra - seeing him clash with Pep would be beautiful!
I just hope he puts Jovic numbers during his Shitty stint. One of the most unlikeable clubs out there. Wish nothing but failures to them, PSG, Newcastle, and Chelsea.
It’s going to happen. Pep is an ego maniac and will put Haaland in his rplace once he doesn’t follow orders. Look at KDB, Jesus, Sterling and how they were told to fall in line.
Pep couldn't win CL at an elite club like Bayern despite having Lewa. Won't be surprised if he continues to choke in CL with City.
We were the richest club in the world back in 2009. Today is a different ballgame when we have to compete against clubs owned by oil states. Short answer is we can't.
I love love love that the superior football philosophy of Pep requires spending 100M+ every summer. What's the point of a system that transcends individuals if you need specific (expensive) individuals to implement it. Pep for some reason brought up Mourinho saying he spent a lot without even finishing in a CL spot with Roma. Mourinho won the treble with Pep's leftovers, literally right after his best player left to Barca for loads of money.
