Please provide the link supporting your thesis that Steinbrenner is buying the Metros. ;)

    Re: not enough

Sorry to stray off topic, but this is bullsh!t. League "meddling" got the Revs a bunch of big names who for the most part (except for Ralston) either played no role with the club at all, or helped the Revs to be the worst team in the league entering August. As for Brown, how convenient it is now that everyone's looking at him as a steal; at the time, he was considered damaged goods, remember. The guy has a history of injuries and a career GAA well over 2.

A timely trade, good coaching, and vastly improved play got the Revs to the championship game.

As for Bradley to Metros, I think it's sad that people look at that situation and immediately think the league has somehow engineered it. And I don't even blame anyone here for thinking that, the league has created it's own image problem with past actions.

    Coaches leave teams.

    Live it.

    Learn it.

You don't have to love it, but you do have to deal with it.

Of course, all the soccer fans in the USA aren't happy unless they're whinging about some preceived injustice or other.

Yeah, but didn't MLS allow Hernandez to leave and let the Galaxy off the hook for his contract and his salary? The Fire weren't allowed to do the same for Stoitchkov, seeing as how he wasn't one of their pet projects. And we're STILL owed an allocation for Campos.

I'm not saying the anti-Fire conspiracy theory is valid, but there have been significant inconsistencies where Chicago has been concerned. Just not on penalty kicks.

Oh, and Franchino is a ****sucker.

It doesn't matter, here's one Fire fan who is absolutely thrilled to see Bob go. He is the most overrated piece of crap on the planet. The worst thing about it, is there is nothing much to choose from.

Re: Re: Bob Bradley Poached By Metro

God bless those educated soccer fans, they never stop whining about those who are whining. Didn't want to be that spell-check ass...too late. :) Considering the thread has turned into everyone whining about everyone else whining I think we should all spell it right.

    Have a nice day.

    From http://dictionary.com

    whine:
    1. To utter a plaintive, high-pitched, protracted sound, as in pain, fear, supplication, or complaint.
    2. To complain or protest in a childish fashion.
    3. To produce a sustained noise of relatively high pitch: jet engines whining.

    whinge (Chiefly British):
    1. To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

The second meaning for "whine" and the meaning for "whinge" seem almost identical. It also says "whinge" is chiefly British. I would side with "whine" as the preferred US usage.

Bradley leaving isn't that bad. He's been with the club for 5 seasons now and accomplished a lot. The best part, of course, would be seeing the crap-o-stars still not playing well no matter how good of a coach they have. :)

So we can only use "whinge" if we are talking about the "gaffer" or "boss".

You do realize that you're talking about 2 different seasons, right? Last year, when we were 10th in scoring (not first) we scored on a lot of pks. This year, when we were first in scoring, we got 4 pks, compared to the Fire, with 5. Of our 4 pks, two of them were in the last 3 games when we were winning, and stopped getting so much help.

When Joey injured Carlos, it wasn't a tackle from behind. They were both standing, going for the ball, and the initial contact was at least hip high. When they both fell, Carlos's ankle was between Joey's legs and he kind of got scissored.

You may think that Joey is a "****sucker" (by the way, pretty classy remark for a Fire fan...) but Rasov is much worse. And young DeMarcus spent most of the second half of game 3 acting like a thug, trying to get in his licks before the final whistle blew.

The statement "have been significant inconsistencies where Chicago has been concerned" is probably the only staement that can't be refuted, because it says nothing.

Coach Bradley was one of the key elements of the Fire's success. He is every bit as good as Coach Arena as a leader. The loss of Bradley cannot be compared, from a strategic perspective, to any other Fire gripe.

We DC United fans lost both Bradley AND Arena.

    Life goes on.

I'm bummed out. At least the Fire has developed a winning tradition, which I hope will stay strong in the years to come.

Perhaps if wholesale changes are coming to the team, a new coach might be in order, after all....

The Fire has gotten off to a great start as a franchise, and maybe the MLS needs to "take" from this team to save the league.....

I don't like it, but I wish him well. He did a great job here....

Bradley was an assitant at the time and left while Arena was still in charge.

Arena left to coach the national team. Bob abadons the Fire to coach the Metrostars.

    Big difference.

Apparently, you do not remember Charlie Stilletano and the dark ages of Metrodom.

There are a lot of problems with boxing, not the least of which is that most of the incentives are short term. MLS needs the teams to be valuable in 20+ years. Boxing promoters and owners (i.e. the boxers) need to make as much off a boxer as they can. This is why we see everything on PPV/closed circuit. You can maximize profits in the short term (all you care about since you have no investment in future boxers), but lose the majority of casual fans. If championship boxing matches were regularly on network television, boxing would be far more popular.

Why big difference? Coaches leave teams all the time, in every sport.
