How in the hell did we get one point in Foxboro? That nutmeg on Room was so ugly. We have threads for hype train, mega bus, hyperloop, etc. I would like to propose that someone now creates the Erik Hurtado eighteen wheeler thread. He saved the freakin' match for us.
Hurtado.aka Thunder Bus..man of the match and team of the week. Order your jersey while supplies last!!
Hurtado seemed like a half decent guy during the interview after the match. And no kudos to Etienne for the two assists? (Plus playing right back the entire game). Oh, and listened to a fair portion of the match while in the car (via the audio webcast). Chris Doran with a nice job on the radio call.
I agree; Etienne was a monster and nobody is mentioning it. He's been cuffed around a good bit around here and fair is fair. As for Doran, he's just solid; knows the game, calls the game, doesn't care that somebody on the other team was once Connecticut High School Player of the Week.
I was watching Battlestar Galactica and Outer Range with a coworker after we saw Dr Strange in the theater, forgot we had a game.
Was there ever a reason given why Berry was subbed at halftime? Seems odd dude finally scores and Porter takes him off at halftime.
I have been hard on Etienne lately. So, in his honor, I would like to scream at the top of my lungs; HE PLAYED A GREAT MATCH AT RIGHT BACK, AND HIS TWO SWEET ASSISTS WERE CRUCIAL IN EARNING US A POINT. Right back may be a good place for him to really contribute and thrive in Columbus.
Weird... Wife and I were watching Outer Range and decided to binge another 4 episodes instead of watching last night's match. Just watched the highlights. Had to do a double take, rinse my eyes, check my glasses and make sure I wasn't drinking drain cleaner instead of my ice water when I saw Hurtado's equalizer -- and was wondering what the comments would be like. Is the game worth watching in the background or were the 5 minutes in the highlights pretty much the match?
I'll be honest -- I didn't think Etienne had that good of a game, apart from the two assists. I'll also admit that my eyes weren't exactly glued to the screen the whole time, so I didn't catch everything. But then I had to keep reminding myself -- "Oh yeah, he's playing right back." For a midfielder to be thrown into a right back start at the last second and to have me not really notice him that much -- that certainly says something about how he performed.
I really liked Outer Range. Going back through it with my coworker after I've seen all of them is nice, putting things together differently.
New England also predominantly attacked through the middle and down our left side most of the match, so Etienne didn’t have a lot to do defensively.
I’m halfway through Outer Range right now. I think it’s ok, been frustrated with some of the pacing and story beats so far, but I’m going to finish it before passing final judgement.
You're not wrong. After the mind-******** that was the end of Episode 2, there are just more questions with very few answers. I will say that the last few episodes do give some well-earned answers, but leaves you with even more questions. I really hope it gets a season 2.
Well, I admit that I had intended to catch up with better Call Saul but ended up watching the whole game. It was mostly surprising due to how New England dominated posession - haven't looked at the numbers but it has to have been huge - but couldn't manage to do much with it. And Omar Gonzalez is now a traffic cone. Anyway, so I did catch up with BCS but now have to make Mrs Smoking Monkey happy by watching a few more episodes of Outlander. Which is complete garbage.
Folks all worked up about Room from the two goals last night are living in the past. Yes, he f'ed up big time earlier in the season, but neither goal last night was his fault. Getting nutmegged is going to happen even to the world's best.
Hard disagree. Not on the first goal. From that distance, the only way he makes a save is if it hits him. Getting nutmegged isn't ideal, obviously, but he's coming across the face of goal to get into better position and had no time to get set. But on the second goal, if he swings for that with the arm on the other side of his body, it gives him a split second extra, and maybe he gets a hand to it. Maybe. We'll never know. Either way, it also doesn't change the fact that two more would-be goals went right off the woodwork, and he just stood there and watched. I'm tired of seeing shots go toward our goal (and often into it) and seeing our goalkeeper completely immobile.
So who on the coaching staff works with goalkeepers? It was an easy question when Onstad was an assistant coach. But now, I have no idea.
Tim Hanley is the only Assistant Coach who played previously as a goalkeeper so I assume he does? I thought the same thing watching the slow motion replay of the goal.
