Bring in for a look? A 23-year-old American is wearing the #10 for one of the biggest clubs in Argentina and has scored in 3 of his last 5 matches.Alan Soñora with another goal moments ago off of a free kick. pic.twitter.com/QG9ZZCfwuA— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) May 7, 2022

Because he plays for a middling Argentinian club (albeit one with history) and his production is ~whatever and he has a ~0% chance of making the World Cup squad.
He’s 23 and playing decently well for his club. There’s no harm in taking a look. I wouldn’t say he’s a likely candidate for the World Cup squad, but it’s not inconceivable if he comes to camp and shows well. Especially since we still have room for guys in the center of the field.
Why do people want to play your best player out of position?? Put him on the left and give him good spacing to work. Stop re-inventing the wheel.
Several top level coaches disagree with you. He is better on the left. Just get the ball with plenty of space to work and other guys on dangerous positions
Sure, too bad we don't have Klinsman. He would leave Pulisic and took Balogun. Whom I'm kidding, Balogun isn't from BL2, but he would cut Pulisic anyway.
Normally I would agree with this but unless a player looks like they could potentially make a real difference on the field in Qatar like CCV, Djorde or Wright, I think you have the core as many reps as possible together. I've watched like 3 games of this kid, which I know is not a lot, but I don't think he is better than Llegett or Roldan.
CCV and EPB are gonna get game time. Robinson went down last night with a possible Achilles injury. Not sure who else is gonna get a run.
I assume Long because he is a fave, and Zimmerman. I hope Brooks is back in, but doubt it. Thankfully Richards should be healthy (barring re-injury) come Qatar.
I always thought 5 out M Robinson Zimmerman Long Brooks Richards EPB CCV Would go but beyond the first two, I wasn't sure who else.
IMO that is the problem. Our mids are incapable of doing that. Puli had goos success last cycle tipping the diamond as our mids had the same problem but Puli was central and hence, more involved.
Our mids receive the ball deep because the wingbacks are both always so far forward. So forwards often are forced to drop deep to receive from the mids. The reason we all get excited when Musah and LDLT carry the ball forward great distances is because it seems to be the only way to get the ball to the forwards in a place they can threaten with it. Always attacking from the wing makes us easier to defend IMO.
I don't think bringing in Sonora is any different than bringing in CCV. Both play at a position of need in a middling league. Honestly, there are at least four CBs not named Robinson that I would run out before CCV--EPB, Zimmermann, Brooks, and Richards. Maybe he's improved dramatically playing against Sr. Mirren and Aberdeen this year and he'll look good for the USA. And maybe Sonora is considerably better than Lleget 2.0, and can inject some offensive punch into our anemic attack. As we found out with LDLT, it isn't always easy to see how a technically gifted player on a middling team can still be the right fit and a useful player. I say kick the tires. We need someone to get the ball to our danger men just as much as we need to shore up our CB corps. I do have one caveat: If we do call Sonora it shouldn't be at the expense of Mihailovic. He's earned a call. .
Agreed. Because of the difficulty we have connecting between (our deep sitting) midfielders and our forwards, I would prefer that either Brooks or Richards be in the starting lineup, because at least with one of them in there we have a chance of making line breaking passes.
That why you need Gio in the middle and forward that is dangerous enough over the top like Jesus. But we have big time coach to figure out answers to that question.
here are the ones I want to see...Palmer-Brown, CCV, Alan Sonora, Jonathan Gomez, Mihailovic, Pomykal
Well auditions for Zimms partner just opened up sadly after finally locking in our starting center back pairing
