Keith and Steve Serr are going to be tonguing each other's buttholes in hell. I'd have paid good money to see him get his lights knocked out.
As I've noted before, one of my career highlights was beating a Serr coached team indoors. They thought that since we were mostly over 30, that it would be easy, so they didn't mark my center forward. But he'd played at Northwestern..... 5 goals later they began to realize they were in trouble.
I can picture his eyes bulging out of his skull watching his team get crushed by the beer league team. I did try to get MOSSL/BPL to permanently ban him after I observed him tearng into a 13 year old AR. I can take it as a seasoned ref, but don't go after the kids. The guy is a douche of the highest magnitude.
I called a tournament championship game for a team of his. It's the one and only time I ever threw out a spectator for being completely out of.control, cursing at my linesman and generally being an asshole. He tried to refuse to leave but I said I was not restarting play until he was in the parking lot. Finally left, walking as slowly as humanly possible and cursing me out the whole time. I didn't know it at the time but it was Steve Serrs father. Afterwards (and Serrs team lost) he went to MOSSL to try and get me suspended but there were multiple witnesses who said I had done nothing wrong. Being an asshole is a family tradition apparently.
My son reffed youth soccer years ago, and one day I drove him to a game. We were early, there was another game going on the field, so we waited at midfield for it to be over. I recognized Serr was coaching one of the teams, he was standing to my left. The game was scoreless, and IIRC his team needed a win to advance to the finals. His team took a shot on the goal to my right. It was one of those we've all seen where it hits the crossbar, comes straight down, and bounces backward. The ref who seemed to be in position called no goal. No way that I or anyone to my left could see otherwise. Serr went ballistic. The game ended shortly thereafter. The ref was an adult, came in from out of state for the tournament, I learned later. After the game, Serr got in his face, yelling, seemed pretty clear to me that he was trying to get the ref to punch him or some other contact. The ref stood his ground, said nothing, Serr finally gave up. Don't know if there were any repercussions.
Never met the guy and have no idea who he is/was. Trying to see if there was some background and this was the first Google hit -- I wonder if we can add Nick Roberts to the replace Porter list
Roberts is currently coaching Ashland U. And he is a good guy, from what I recall from his Xoggz days...
No repercussions. Douchcanoe McGee is(or at least was) untouchable in Central Ohio soccer. I've been out of reffing since Con was born, so I have no clue if he's still around.
That was always the issue, be it club or High School (Westerville South IIRC); for some reason the powers that be refused to call him out on anything he did. He just skated, never even a hint of repercussions. Some refs simply refused assignments at his home venues, where he knew he could get away with anything. At tournaments and away games at least you knew you had some backup. Not that anyone would come down on him, just that he couldn't intimidate you. The funny part was, after the time I had the big blowup with him and he stomped off.to scream at the director, the assignor and, later, MOSSL, the associations' head of officiating wrote me a long email apologizing for Serrs behavior and adding that he'd known him for a long time and he'd never seen or heard of such h behavior, which he said was " out of character" I could only laugh.
So what's the deal? Is OHSAA just scared of him? Is he a big-time donor? Does he have incriminating photos? Here's Nick Roberts: https://goashlandeagles.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/coaches/nick-roberts/220 In related: who the hell was the guy at Muskingum or was that Steve Serr? Or is my memory combining things?
The guy at Muskingum was Seamus "Red Card" O'Reilly. Another useless thief who convinced people that he was a soccer guru because he had a British accent. Mookie was on a team he put together to take to England one summer. He and Nick Roberts were partners in the "Tour Europe and get your ass handed to you while we make a fortune" business. A scratch team with. othing but a few scrimmages behind them gets off the plane in England 12 hours later takes the pitch against Blackburns' youth academy. Sure, that goes well. And I'm guessing that when it hit 10-0 they took their foot off the gas. Seamus is a total fraud. He lied to my face on numerous occasions and treated the kids like dirt.
Zardes just scored his first goal for Colorado. A PK vs. LAFC. Gussied Zardes opens his #Rapids96 account! pic.twitter.com/QjnIPLJkUj— Holding The High Line (@rapids96podcast) May 14, 2022
And now it's 2-0 off another PK. I did hear Lalas Abubakar get mentioned in the Univision broadcast as well.
I was today years old when I learned that 2003/2004 Crew Living Legend Dr. Nelson Akwari has his PhD in "Materials Science and Engineering" from UCLA, works for Boeing in South Carolina, AND is on USSF Board of Directors. https://www.ussoccer.com/governance/board-of-directors/about
Akwari, Akwari, Nelson Akwari! He's got no hair, but we don't care. Nelson Akwari! Maybe 5 posters on this board will remember that.
Youi might be thinking of Dr. Obi Moneme, though he wasn't a goalie. https://www.ohiohealth.com/find-a-doctor/profile/1316168743/Obinna-I-Moneme-MD
