No match thread? It's Friday right? 7:30pm Eastern How To Watch: MLS LIVE on ESPN+,Bally Sports Ohio,NBCSWA, dcunited.com, TeleXitos Columbus fell in Open Cup play, lost two straight home matches and one on the road. United won for the first time in 5 games last week. Tough to call what will happen. But Crew fans on BS think they'll lose. So I'm going with a 2-1 Crew win. "DC United: Making Bad Teams Look Mediocre since at Least 2014" Will Taxi give us a Lyft? Baby Moray Eel. Not yet yellow.

The starting line up for this game is a big test for Ashton as far as I'm concerned. He gave Flores a chance for a "new start" last week. He completely wasted it. He was (once again) terrible. If Flores is in the starting line-up, I will be convinced that benching him is what got Losada fired more than anything else. Let's see if Chad is his own man...
Goff reports: "Nigel Robertha (concussion protocol) will not play this weekend at Columbus. He joins Hamid, Najar, Perez, Nyeman, Odoi-Atsem on sideline. Kamara returns from suspension." I think the only real question in the line-up is who joins Taxi and Kamara up top and possibly who starts in goal. What I assume we'll see: Kempien Pines - Birnbaum - Hines-Ike Gressel - Canouse - Durkin - Smith ??? - Kamara - Taxi My order of preference for ??? is Yow, Ku-Di, Hopkins.
I'm feeling optimistic although it might be unjustified. I think Taxi will continue to be good and I think Kamara will be motivated after basically losing us a home game in humiliating fashion. I think the biggest variable will be Kempin. If he can continue playing well I feel confident in us winning. Flores will probably start and will definitely be bad but against a struggling Columbus I don't think his suckage will be a deciding factor. Prediction is DC 3 CLB 0 The team still has really serious problems but this wont be the week we get exposed.
Cowlumbus fans are pissed because Porter wanted Zardes traded to Colorado for $300K, future add-ons if he hits certain marks at Colorado, and it opens an DP slot for the summer transfer window. They felt at 30 he was losing a step and missing the target more often. Seems he was extremely well liked in the locker room and the team is hurting from that, on top of their scoreless winless streak. Still, United makes bad teams look mediocre. It's what we do. It's their home game. I think we drop this one 2-1 on a Kempin-comes-back-to-earth missed chip.
We are going on the road facing a team as desperate for points as we are. I never expect a road win, but I am optimistic here. As with any road game, we need to match their intensity in the midfield for the first 20 min and avoid conceding early. The good news is that they will have to be aggressive and attack as the home team. This should create space and opportunities for us on the other end.

I think a win here is likely. Columbus is not in good shape right now. The situation with Zardes could be a real morale killer. Flores will kill everything down his side, but if Taxi can continue his good start, I like our chances.
Even if we score the next three, I’m still pissed we gave up a goal to a team that’s 0-for-April until they met us.
