I'm glad I just went for all the lusail/al bayt games in the first FCFS before the draw, and already got tix to 3 of the top 5 highest demand matches
Demand is strong and were still missing 3 countries..full of multiple applications of course but no sign yet that it will be easier than russia... But the fact that 3 out of 4 games goes to Argentina rarher than Germany or England (except england x USA which is probably due to US fans and not english fans) would sugget that latinos and americains will be again present while european presence might be shy
Are we allowed to have two separate accommodation bookings back-to-back? I have Cluster I from 29 Nov-3 Dec, and would like to add Cluster A from 3 Dec-7 Dec and try to get a few RO16 tickets from FCFS. I'd change my initial booking but I don't know when they'll activate that option, as of now there's no way to amend your bookings. I only have two tickets, to a group stage match on 30 Nov and on 2 Dec, so my initial booking already covers all my tickets, so maybe that's why I thought they wouldn't allow me to get Cluster A from 3 Dec-7 Dec as well. But the website isn't blocking me from getting Cluster A from 3 Dec-7 Dec, so shouldn't be an issue I hope.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have more rooms 'officially' in the system than they did in Russia. But I bet that almost everything in Qatar is / will be in the system. We booked everything in Russia, independently, no place we stayed was part of the official accommodation portal or reservation system. We were (are) cheapskates, and were/are willing to stay in e.g. neighboring cities, people's houses, hostels, which meant we had a wider range of options. (We were were aided by a Russian speaker with lots of friends and family living in Russia, in other word cups were could call on local friends and/or past experiences in the countries.) There is no way there will be more beds available in Qatar than there were in Russia. They will find a way to house everyone, though; at a high level this is an exercise in brand promotion, not profit maximization.
Personally, I don’t doubt the fandom of Qatar locals. I just don’t think there are enough of them to fill all these stadiums every day. To some extent, this will be compensated by having all the matches in one place. I’m personally going to 3x the number of matches I normally would in the first two weeks, due to travel between matches not being a limiting factor. However, I think it’s a mistake to take the number of non-binding applications as an indicator of demand. We’ll see what it looks like when people actually have to pay.
“Following the application phase, FIFA Ticketing will verify that ticket requests meet the sales regulations and household restrictions prior to allocating tickets.” Some curious this part of the fifa post…
In the us soccer applications they told us directly that their application is separate from the fifa general lottery and there will be a double check at the end of the draw and warned people not to make duplicates in both as it may result in cancellation in both. So reading it as a check across different modes of lottery rather than duplicate names etc.
They've had the same sentence after the first random draw. It's by default. https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/me...-world-cup-qatar-2022-tm-tickets-during-first
Out of interest - has anyone booked Rawdat Al Khail Sedra apartment or have any thoughts on it? Good/bad?
I have applied for all of the big matches quoted in the weblink. Hopefully that i have said any category will work in my favour. Argentina are ALWAYS a big draw because their fans love to travel.
Not a local, just looking at the map. Three items stand out: 1. A bit far from the two metro stations (1200m & 1350m). Not terrible. 2. There's a 24 hour supermarket w/ KFC across the main street. (Other fast food close @ 24:30 or 25:00 - less useful 22:00 post-match.) 3. There's a basketball court behind the supermarket. No gym listed as an amenity; don't know if any of the multiple nearby gyms will offer a "WC Visitor Pass" for purchase? Not a bad place; depending on what you're looking for there are slightly better choices (but I know nothing about the neighbourhood, noise levels, etc.) Different question for all: In looking at the (minimal) QAA listing info, it appears that there's no clear reason one property is a "Plus". They've stated it's about location and amenities, which is often true...except when it isn't. Is it a fair guess that if the property is a Plus, it's quite likely because it's a nicer place/room/neighborhood and not because it has a gym or pool, or because it's closer to a Metro station? Or do you think the quality of accommodation has little to with the Plus designation and added price?
I am contemplating doing a day trip to Dubai one of the days. If things stand as they do today it looks like I won't need a PCR for Dubai but I'll need one to return to Doha? Anyone have any insight on this? (US citizen, fully vaccinated)
At this point people would only be guessing , who knows what if any restrictions could be about by November (hopefully none)
Europeans are scared of their shadow sometimes or have better things to do. They missed out on Russia big time. I think the england v USA support is because of American military personal that live in the area and may want to go. But we'll be able to gauge the real interest at the FCFS. If it's like last time; then it's inflated support because of the multiple applications.
Check in process in hotels are strict here, but during world cup and these accommodation probably less so, hard to track with that level of crowd. This was for him to get his hayya card approved. You need accommodation validated for Hayya approval. For infants, they have done it before when the number of people exceeds the room capacity when booking through Discover Qatar. There is no harm in trying so he will have a peace of mind when coming.
True, I do hope all restrictions including PCR before returning home to the US are gone by then. I just don't know if it will be worth doing a day trip or not. I do want to see Dubai but I don't want to not be able to return to Doha and miss my Ro16 matches.
I'm not understanding this, You have tickets for more than one game, presumably for more than one person? How many people are going to a game with you? Can't you just spread the names around the applications so everyone can get Hayaa? As for the accommodation, if its a villa/apartment there is zero chance that people will be checking who is where. Plane arrives 1 am with 350 people on it all going to different locations around the city, 1.10am another arrives, another 350, and so on all day. It will be impossible to everyone to have a chaperone. Surely there will be digital locks, they send you a code and you make your own way to the villa. They know people cannot enter the country without a match ticket, they know you cannot get Hayaa without a match ticket (with the exception of some on here who are cheating )
As it is now, you need to be listed as a guest on a confirmed accommodation in order for your Hayya card to be approved. However, once the other guests have their cards, maybe you could remove one and then add the 5th person and apply for the card? Or utilize the “day trip” application for the Hayya card that doesn’t require confirmed accommodation. I agree that they probably won’t be tracking who’s coming and going to people’s apartments (or at least I hope not). But for check in, they’ll probably ask to see passports, like they do for all hotels.
You know… you just made sense of this. I have enough trickets for the Hayaa card; but it’s the rooms I’m concerned about. I don’t want to spend 500 a night. But you’re reasoning makes sense. If the do “catch” me, the extra person is my child and a minor.
