    Who's being disadvantaged?

If you bought in the first phase you've had weeks to buy accommodation.

And I would argue that it is the most committed, those that follow their country around the world throughout qualification and for friendlies, who have had to wait because their team's tickets aren't sold until the second phase?

I applaud people who go just for the love of the game, but part of the appeal of the sport is it's tribal nature and that's where a lot of the atmosphere comes from.

The issue is more because the organisers, who have had 12 years to plan this World Cup, haven't released tranches of all possible accommodation in each phase.

The reality is a lot of the better options have yet to be released.

Hotels only being made available to fans in the next week.
Msheireb (best location) apartments are still not released.

Let’s agree - the fan follower who watches qualifiers and fist phase applicants are comitted fans.
What they should have done is reserve accommodation for the fans who go through their local associations as they have done the mileage, so to speak.

People who wait for the draw to see what the ‘big games’ are should be at the back of the queue imho.

Im the same mate. I acquired a ticket reference number from a mate just so I could book accommodation - match tickets not in my name! I wont have a ticket in my name until national ticket sales have been done (England in my case) but wanted to get a head start on accommodation and this was the only way to do it!

So the people who run the hayya card and the accommodation only have information from FIFA that the application number was successful and the games ..

did your friend have more than 1 tkt to each game on the successful application and did he also use the same number as you
to get a hayya card and accommodation ..Mine was from an application with just 1 tkt to each game not in my name, but the tkts are for me .just trying to establish if 1 application number could be used multiple times

I don't think that reconciles with agreeing to move up/down a category, though.

My guess is they literally just pick applications out and allocate depending on their preferred CAT. If said CAT is full, and the applicant ticked the category box, then they'll try to allocate to a higher/lower CAT. If those are also full, then they will deem the application unsuccessful.

Similarly, it's all speculation on my part so who knows..

But I think hotels could be expensive. If the Fan villlages alone cost 200, it only will be higher

In my experience those labels “low, medium” etc are useless . Everything is extremely high demand right now

Yes, It’s 2 separate systems. 1 is a FIFA ticket vendor, the second is Qatar immigration. FIFA creates a batch of the application numbers and the Qatar Hayaa system sweeps the batch. Once the batch is posted on the Hayaa system you can order accommodations. (My guess based on what we’ve experienced so far.) and because guest ticket names can change at any time, it’s too much of a hassle to validate names. They would have to invalidate issued Hayaa cards every time there’s a name change as well as create a new one.

so it seems like they’ve kept this part simple. Just submit an application number. That’s it

yes just trying to put together what information FIFA hand over, ie do FIFA tell them that the application had 1 successful tkt for a single game or that their was 6 successful tkts for that 1 game .. obviously they don't give names or passport numbers or I'd have been denied a hayya card and accommodation, Can someone in Iran with 1 tkt successful application give his number to 5 others to get hayya cards or 10 people like happened in Russia ..

I have no doubt hotels will be expensive. Ditto for the Msheireb apartments.

My guess is north of USD$350 per night per room for hotels. However I do know of many who only want to stay in hotels.

Cheapest 'Holiday Home' is $700 per night, and they do not look better than hotels. They are rated at 3*. I highly doubt hotels will be $350 per night. More like $1000 per night given that almost all of them are 5*.

This world cup will be remembered as the most expensive, from accommodation, flight tickets.
All the rules that are made to burden fans, from the minimum rules for booking accommodation for a stay of 3 to 4 days, not being able to order via booking.com etc,

Day tripping and short stays will probably become available as we get closer to the games. And don’t forget camping. All this “control” is understandable in a tiny country not built for hosting the worlds largest event. If they let the free market run… the price of accommodations would be even more ridiculous. Listings on booking.com would be hundreds more. Booking.com offers deals when there’s plenty of availability in the area. If there’s no availability; I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous prices on that site. — my opinión.

From another forum, people are surprised that it doesn't!!!
The reply from the officials is that November to December are the coolest months so AC is not required!

Edit: Copied email reply from the other forum.

More details from the accommodations people : “Dear Jack,

    Thank you for your email,

Unfortunately there will be no Air Conditioning in Fan Villages, however in November the temperature outside is already quite low, I believe you won't face any discomfort.

We anticipate that our casual camping and temporary cabin-style accommodation options will be available to book online soon. More details on location, facilities and pricing per cabin or tent will be available shortly, please check Qatar2022.qa regularly for updates.

We would recommend that you view other categories currently available and arrange your accommodation as soon as possible as we cannot guarantee that accommodation added to the website at a later date will be available and meet your requirements.”

For those interested - Fan Village Cabins Rawdat Al Jahhaniya seems to be very close to metro, mall and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium

Meanwhile Al Gassar Resort is 11,000 QAR per night. Quick Google search suggests can be as little as 13,000 QAR per month. Nice

Tickets in the fcfs are left overs from the lottery. What happened this WC is that people created lots of applications to increase their chances in the lottery but then only purchased what they needed. So lots of tickets were available in the fcfs phase. This will happen in phase2 again, I'm sure.

I am not sure. Me and my friends did 16 apps in phase 1, we got nothing. And we focused on quarter finals Lusail and Bayt cat 2 and Cat 1. We got Nada.
In FCFS these quarter finals stayed 5 hours after the start and we picked up all we need.
It just doesnt sound correct, unless they held back most of Knock outs to push pple to buy group games. How difficult was in the lottery and how easy it was in the FCFS suggests they put more tickets in FCFS than lottery and it is probably not the left overs only..

For those of you who bought in the first phase, his long did it take for the accommodation portal to recognize your ticket validation number?
