Fair point. Though my experience is that neutral, casual fans tend to gravitate towards the big name teams rather than big name players. Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Spain.

But maybe we’ll also get a bunch of Real Madrid and Man City fans from Asia who want to see those guys play.

Your understanding is correct. There's only one pot, they keep sampling from it until the last application. Tickets are allocated and applications become "successfull", "partially successful" or "unsuccessful".

You can retry as many times as you need. It took me 3 hours and a few phone calls to my bank's fraud dept to complete my payment. There's an annoying timer saying your payment must be completed in like 15 minutes, but after it fails they let you retry again =).

Thanks - I sure hope you're right about that because that's not how Etheraz is described online. There is a grey color code that is triggered by blue tooth proximity and the Etheraz application forces your phone to turn on blue tooth. See https://www.acta.gov.qa/en/ehteraz/ and other sites. My understanding is that loading Etheraz on your mobile is mandatory for the time-being. Anyway, you can imagine the anger if your code turns from green to grey and you can't enter the transportation system or stadium until you get tested. I agree with everyone's opinion that it seems impractical for Qatar to implement such a system, but as I said, the world has gone a little whacky over covid and so I don't put it past them. @vibrantcolours did you actually attend the Arab Cup and see Etheraz in action? I'm just going by the internet and so am not claiming any hands-on experience with this app.

Regarding the main applicant- isn’t it only a potential problem if :
    1. You are a tout
    2. You have used an email account you have no control over

I’m assuming that if you use an email of a friend/relative they simply forward the email to you.

in terms of the process , could someone who attended the Arab cup please confirm?
Applicant receives email with link to tickets?
Following the link triggers SMS to phone?
Use or transfer takes place from phone?
Tickets activated by Bluetooth when near to stadium?
Doesn’t that make the phone number most important rather than email?
I can use different email addresses on my phone, if they are my addresses. But can I automatically route calls/SMS from one phone to another?
So as the applicant do I only need one SIM? Or do I need a SIM for each application using a different ID?

For the main applicant do the email address and telephone number have to be working on the same device?

For the main applicant - can they forward an SMS to any other device, and use the other device to access ticket to enter stadium? So, could my wife at home be a main applicant, everything goes to her, and she simply forwards the details to my phone in Doha for me to use the ticket -does that work?

It is an anti-tout measure and a problem for touts. However it could still be useful to share tickets with friends.

The phone does not matter or the SIM.

For the Arab Cup you bought tickets online. You downloaded the app and got a code to your e-mail. Once the app was setup the tickets were in the app.

You need to turn bluetooth on. You do not need a SIM and I don't think you need WiFi. As you approach the stadium the ticket gets activated.

So the e-mail associated with the account is crucial. It may be an issue for anyone who uses a work email and moves jobs before November.

I tried to change the email address and it did not work. I know others trying as well on their accounts as a test. I did see the option to do this but it does not work. I know of some very good tickets that were left behind in phase 1 because from application to payment stage they realised they would not have access to the email and decided it was not worth the risk of not being able to access the tickets.

Back to accomodation topic, for a minute. :whistling:

Anyone following the availability on the official site? It seems that the cheap option (Barwa Barahat Al Janoub) is running out fast since the weekend.

For the dates I am loking for (first week), it was showing two buildings yesterday. One with low availability and high for the other. Today, only one building left, which is already showing as medium availability

I know they have other buldings on the same place, still to become available, but I am wondering if they will keep the same price (~100USD) or we can expect something higher, knowing that the loterry application ends on 28/04 and the cancelation period for accomodation is valid until 30/04 only?

    I smell something :cautious:

I live here, and have been using EHTERAZ since it was introduced, it does not change your status from green for proximity. It only changes when you give sample for testing covid. Also you only need it to for accessing places. You can turn off your blue tooth and location access for the app when it is not in use, we do that it saves battery. Turning off these will disable the app so you can safely walk in a crowd

I think they already showed the prices they want to charge its about +150 usd for each room added. Someone had said they had dozens of these clusters and only a few have been on sale. Prob more coming.

I think more ppl booked recently due to the lottery and the excitement of the attending the matches. Plane prices also popped a bit the last couple of weeks.

Yeah, I am sure more clusters to come, but if they will cost 150 (and 100 is their "sale" price), it is probably better to guarantee now, as I can't see they offering other decent options for fair proces, like hotels, 1 bedroom apartments close to the city, etc.

And as usual, no official update :confused:

I just meant the different price levels that are available on the site.

The cluster is 100 usd - one room one bathroom and shared living space
The 1 bedroom is 275 usd - one room one living room one bathroom
The 2 bedroom is 387-426 usd.
The 3 bedroom is 532 usd.

Anyone else got a similar issue? I am looking to fly before the tournament to Doha, spend the month there then fly to Thailand for a week. matter that flying back to London via Doha.

I have our this itinerary into the Qatar airways website and it can’t price it.
Thing is - when I do the legs as singles, there are places available. Very frustrating.

Also - I have looked at similar but using Abu Dhabi as the vehicle then doing a month long return flight to not Doha. The Doha to Abu Dhabi prices are insane for a 1 hour flight.

    What is going on?

Did you try the multi city option in qatar airways ? Sometime it is not able to gauge price is due to the same class of ticket not being available in different legs of the journey

The Cluster place seems to be for minimum 2 persons. So maybe it Would be a good idea to share. Since I am planning to travel alone, what Would be the Best Way to share one of the rooms? Just make a post on one of the facebook groups?
And Would you be nervous for somebody trying to scame you. Maybe they The booking on paper so they Can get the Hayya card

Ok so the email is crucial if there is a risk you don't have access to it, but not an issue if its friends, family etc?
Having read your comments, I'm now reminded that the question of being able to log in and out of the ticket app or deleting it and reinstalling has been mentioned before. I assume that you access the app by logging in with the email address on the application? For the main applicant, is there a risk that the app recognises the phone hardware and does not allow muliple access from the same device? Does the email address on the application have to be set up on your phone?

The email is required to get a code so a friend's email is fine once they are available to share the code.

It was somebody else on here who stated logging in/out of the app with different accounts was fine.

I know UEFA use different technology but a friend ran into issues during Euro2020 logging in/out of the app on his phone with 2 accounts. He needed to visit the ticket office to get his final ticket. The issue was probably as you describe it.

Hey thanks so much for sharing. Great informative video. May I assume that you believe the 6pm and 10pm match connections for the World Cup group play (no OT) are all doable? And for the knock stage clearly Al Bayt, Al Janoub and Al Manama won't work if there is overtime but what about the other 5?

Also, for the Arab Cup did the kick off start sharp or did they just start the introductions and athems on the hour with kick off 15 min later?

I watched your video (well done!) but I noticed they couldn't even get Ehteraz working well for this trial run even though the app has been in use since 2020. So I see it as an enormous threat to the harmony of the World Cup. Did you have any experience with you or anyone else getting a grey status, which means you as suspected of covid exposure and must report for a test? The websites say you can't enter most places without a green status... so what's to stop everyone roaming around with grey status while the overloaded testing facilities cannot cope with large volumes of grey status users? Please consider sharing your full experience with Ehteraz...

    Thanks.

Yes I plan on doing the 8 Rof16 games. On December 4th & 5th I am really really hoping no extra time and definitely no pens in Al Thumama and Al Janoub. Al Thumama to Al Bayt on the 4th will be a challenege. However I do expect if decided in normal time to see both complete games.

For the group games definitely no issues. Indeed my current thinking involves Ghana v Uruguay in Al Janoub, USA v Iran in Al Thumama and Canada v Morocco in Al Thumama eventhough more accessible stadiums are available at those times. My current plan is to only go to Al Bayt for England v USA in the group stages. I am not going to finalise my schedule until June though.

Games pretty much kickoff on time. So if a game was due to start at 1pm it did and finished pretty close to 3pm with stoppages etc.
