Bye has gotten off to a strong start at rb. He has improved his passing % from the 68 of his rookie year to the solid 80% of the current campaign. He has 2 goals and 1 assist. Harriel took a head knock in the first half. that may have slowed him for the rest of the game. Fernandez is only 23. Let's see if he can lock down that a-mid spot for NYRB. if NYRB had a striker they'd challenge. Will Aaron Long make the NL roster? Gregg loves him, but Zimmerman, Robinson, EPB, and Brooks are also there. It's good to see Ford has landed on his feet after all the injuries. Morris showed excellent acceleration through the box to get the strike for goal. Roldan has blossomed into a classy player. He just needs a proper chance with the NT. So many U20s have been scooped up by Euro teams, it's now difficult to fill out a 3-man U20 player of the week Yedlin(7.9)2nd and Miami get the legit win to get the 3-game winning streak. Subtracting Higuain and Matuiti helped.
Yes but the that’s not the cutoff. The U20 World Cup isn’t till next year by which point he’ll be too old. To be eligible for this summer’s tournament you have to be eligible for next summer’s U20 World Cup. The same goes for Joe Scally who is 6 months younger and misses being eligible by a day. The cutoff is January 1, 2003.
How did Rivera get a higher ranking than Tolkin? I watched both games and the comparison was not even close. Rivera got robbed by the GK on a nice header... if that went in then I guess that goal could have put his score ahead... but overall a 7.0 is too low for Tolkin.... he totally owned his side of the pitch in a dominant win for NYRB. Orlando has Ruin and Pato on his side of the pitch and they created next to nothing. He continues to impress me big time.... both offensively and defensively. I think he is not long for this league.
I had the chance to watch Brian White in person for the first time ever on Saturday. His team looked a mess, and they basically quit with more than 15 minutes to go. He was not particularly impressive either. If I was a Vancouver fan I would be depressed at that performance.
For 32 minutes of play, Rivera had-- 71% passing 3/4 long ball 1 key pass 3/6 ground duels 2/2 tackles 4 recoveries But Fotmob gave Tolkin the higher score
I didn't think he was a stand-out in the game despite some decent numbers (considering the minutes)... best play of the game for him was the header that the GK saved. It was pinpoint... low, in the corner. GK stood on his head to keep that out and numerous others from Buksa (who seems to have a head Magnet installed). In the end this was one of Rivera's first appearances so I am not calling him out or anything... I just saw that Rivera was rated higher than Tolkin based on that MS Team of the Week scoreboard you posted and I thought 7.0 was too low for Tolkin. I continue to be impressed w/ how technical he is despite his age. I have been going back and forth on who I rate higher between him and Jones... and I think I am leaning towards Tolkin. Nice problem to have though. I think either could push for playing time at backup LB in the future.
Atlanta United announces that Brad Guzan, Osvaldo Alonso and Dylan Castanheira are now officially on the Season-Ending Injury List. The club can now receive roster relief, which Atlanta United described as "i.e. an open roster slot" in their statement.— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) April 27, 2022 With 2/4 Atlanta United goalkeepers done for the season (Guzan, Castanheira) that leaves (unless they make a move, eg with Cincy for their former backup Alec Kann, who could find now himself behind 21yo Roman Celentano) only 21 year old Justin Garces and 19 year old Rocco Ríos Novo on their current roster... both US born, RRN a dual nat with Argentina YNT caps.
How is everyone feeling about the Pumas matchup with the Sounders in the CL Finals tonight? I think if you had asked me a couple of weeks ago I would have felt OK about their chances... but after a very poor start to the MLS season I am really worried the Sounders will waste this opportunity. This Pumas side is a bit weaker than we normally see from the Liga MX teams in the finals. I really want an MLS Team to finally win this trophy... but Seattle has looked very shaky on D lately. Could be a couple of crazy... and high scoring games.
It's CCL. Disappointment is the free space, and the general media view that "this is the year" cinches it for me. I'm not sure if it is a Pumas blowout here or a devastating collapse at home, but I'm actually not hopeful at all. They have the talent -- I think they are a more talented team than Pumas. But there is definitely an extra hurdle of history for MLS teams. Hope I am wrong.
I don’t know if they’ll win or not, but this seems like the best set up an MLS team has ever had to do so.
Maybe -- it's a good set up. But that Toronto team was stacked and lost in pens, though, and LAFC probably should have won a couple years ago as well.
Coming from a Chargers/Padres Fan I can speak to the fact that when you have never won a championship it gets into the heads of the players and it is extra difficult to get the monkey off your back. I am looking at almost 100 combined seasons w/ no championships. To make matters worse the Sounders have looked pretty awful on defense of late. They moved to that 3-man backline last year out of necessity but now it looks like they are caught between two minds. I think I am with you... on paper Seattle should be the 1st MLS Team to win this trophy... but I think it will be squeaky-bum time out there. I could easily see Pumas come out and embarrass them. I could also see the Sounders outplaying them but still not getting it over the line. I too hope I am wrong.
Sounders get totally screwed by the ref. Go figure. What a terrible call. SAVE! Yes! Oh no... foot over the line. PK going to be taken over again. Yikes. 2nd one in. I feel bad for the Sounders. Why does it always seem like the calls in these big games go against the MLS Teams?
I thought the pen was fair enough. Yeimar made contact from behind and the player went down. Seattle slightly on top but not sharp enough in front of goal. 1-0 to Pumas.
Not how I saw it going but good result for Seattle. Going home with things level is all you can ask for.
I was only able to stay awake for the first half. Jordan Morris is a terror. He's huge, very fast, aggressive and his acceleration from zero to top speed is nearly instantaneous. He's most definitely fully back physically from his ACL injury.
