This team has had an injury problem for as along as I can remember. I honestly don't know if we are any better or worse than any other MLS team in that regard, but several years ago I remember wondering why the team had such a familiar relationship with a German hernia doctor. Like why do we have so many players with hernias we need a specialist on call?
How bad was the NE keeper? Atrocious. One win doesn’t mean Shiite. I’m happy we got the W, but we were lucky to get out with 3 points.
I thought we were lucky, too, what was that second half? They played like they were down a man. Oh hey, someone step to friggin Farrell already. I'll just blame Flores I guess. Hopkins shouldn't be defending in space to preserve a lead, never do that again. It was fun to see Ted try stuff, but someone has to get a hold of the ball, that was terrible. I'm hoping it was only desperation, they needed the win very badly and only tried to survive the clock.
We traded all our Wednesday games last year for field level. I don’t care for being that low, even in row 4, up maybe 15’ makes a huge difference. That said, the clean bathrooms with no line and being able to get beers in the Heineken Club was good. Not ~$225 good, but it’s better than getting nothing for games we weren’t gonna make. We got 2 more for that extra credit they gave us. You have to sit pretty far down the line for that price, but it was cool, we ended up sitting just over from Birnbaum’s wife and my oldest managed to get his jersey.
He was 2021 Jon Kempin bad. I still hesitation in Kempin’s decisions but his overall form and technique was better than last year, but he simply should not be on a roster at this level, regardless of how low his salary is.
I was just taking a look at the MLS table, and we are only team without a draw. We either win or lose. Not sure if that is a function of our style of play or just an interesting coincidence.
He made some mistakes, but he also made an unbelievable save. It's not like he gave us the game or something. That third goal was a mistake by him for sure, but the save he made more than made up for that. Of course, Matt Turner would have saved all of our shots, right, including Estrada's.
I'd say it's some of both. We were extremely close to tying twice. Within a few minutes a couple of times.
Our last two games were remarkably similar, even with different head coaches - go up in the first half, and then struggle to hold on in the second. It worked last Saturday but not the week before. Kempin (yes, Kempin!) saved us against NE. So how do we close out a match we are winning? Bunkering almost cost us. Perhaps the better solution is to continue to attack - in numbers - thereby drawing our opponents back into their defensive half. I really don't know the answer, but last Saturday we came awfully close to losing a match we had well in hand. I hope Chad and the staff are working on finding a solution - soon.
I pray that we are regularly in a position to continue working on this issue -- how do we close out a match we are winning?
Their defender's gave us the game. Two goals were passes directly to DC united players that led to a goal within 20-30 seconds. Flabbergastingly bad passes.
Get the front runners to a point where they can all go 90 and keep attacking instead of going straight to bus parking.
Field level is almost too close to the action, especially if you're not in the middle of the field (granted Heineken Club access is great since it's smaller and more exclusive). But then again, I haven't had the issues you've had with waiting for beer or the food in the Eaglebank Club any time I've sat there, and the seats there are much better for watching the game.
And/or don't start the exact same lineup every game so you're not injuring said front runners. Proactively. It takes a village. Literally, a small village.
Presumably we soon will be able to keep Taxi on the pitch for more than 60 minutes, so he will have to be accounted for. And Yow is a speedy guy who can occupy a defender and keep up at least the illusion of a second half attack.
So...you're saying we have a chance at the playoffs as long as you're willing to sacrifice your liver?
