I thought I'd get a jump on things and do this a day early instead of us scrambling tomorrow. Here's your game day thread. Chicago Fire v. Minnesota United FC April 23, 2022 Kick Off: 4:00pm Allianz Field-St. Paul, Minnesota TV: ESPN, ESPN Deportes. (MAYBE WGN Ch9 Rabbit ears?) https://www.dailyunion.com/sports/n...cle_fa33e264-d986-596e-aa0e-2b53cd8624b7.html MLS Regular Season Allianz Field Minnesota Sat, Apr 23 4:00 PM Chicago
This was my next task, so thanks for this. I am scheduled to go to the game tomorrow. Meeting an old friend who I met up with last month for the first time since 1986. However, we took our dog to the doggie ER at 1:00 am today and she needs emergency surgery. We'll see, if they do the surgery today, maybe I can still go tomorrow and pick her up Sunday.
my first fire away game! saw the injury report: nobody listed as out, Shaq and Fabi questionable MNUFC logo is one of my favorite in all of American sports
Thanks. They just called and it is pretty serious. The infection is bad and her "cervix is closed". She'll be fine and I'll be out $4,000, so all is well.
This 'You may select up to 4 choices' nonsense is bullshit - I want a minimum of 12 for every game thread, damnit! I was contemplating a trip to Minny to see the White Sox and the Fire, but it didn't work out, so I'll be watching from Casa Harry tomorrow. Minneapolis is actually pretty fun city, but the team sucks for being called United, even if the whole 'Twin Cities' angle almost makes it make sense. I've never gone to St. Paul, so that place can eat mud. The logo is dumb- you can't have a star sitting in that position of your crest, it's dumb, you haven't won anything, and also 'Loons' is a stupidass nickname but I'll give them a little credit in that at least it's a plural noun and double at least it isn't part of the official name. We have to score from the run of play, right? Like, it's just not possible for us to continue not doing so? I say Shaq, Kacper, Guti, and Herbers score, giving us a 2-0 win somehow. Something stupid always happens, so that'll be it.
The Amtrak station is in St. Paul. Those who took the train a few years ago walked out of the train station o the light rail in the center of the street. The rail ran downtown and it runs by the Allianz Stadium. I thought the Twin Cities were nice enough, but I didn't know I was a block away from this guy in St.Paul.
The stadium is in St. Paul. My friend who I am taking to the game lives in St. Paul. The hotel where I am staying is in St. Paul. All with steps of the Green line on the light rail. I doubt I will set foot in Minneapolis this weekend. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul are decent cities.
This is my issue with it too. You can’t have the star where it is or it’ll look odd when they eventually win a championship (but not with their current cheap owner). The United healthcare aspect of their ownership kills the name for me. It’s like a less on the nose version of Red Bulls.
Ok ok...I apologize for this. I mistakenly thought by offering 4 that would be enough to click either Win, Tie, or Loss with 3 leftover for Malort, Raccoons and something else. I *thought* there used to be a box for "unlimited" choices but instead it was asking me to input a number which I don't remember doing ever? If there's ever a next time I will increase the choices. I'm working on manufacturing and installing gingerbread at the Kentucky house all day on the front porch and then going to stop to watch the game at 4:00 on the TV. The only issue with my plan is I ran out of coffee beans this morning so if I don't scramble to do something about it I'm going to have a crisis in the morning and I don't know how I'm going to pull this off because I plan on being tipsy by the end of the game. https://www.hottimeinoldtown.com/20...ota-united-vs-chicago-fire-mls-week-8-preview
I assumed that the star was there in honor of the late less-than-great hockey team's inspiration, but it's still dumb. I honestly did enjoy getting around the twin city while I was up there. Airport to downtown in less than an hour via slightly less scuzzy than the Red Line light rail, and from there, downtown was fairly walkable, with a decent amount of bikeshare options to get you around. Some nice public parks, a good deal of public art, plenty of local breweries - again, Minneapolis is a pretty fun city and I wouldn't doubt if its 'twin' is fun, too. It'll just be a bit before I get to see it. Also, the public art in Minneapolis dedicated to Bob Dylan can get lost. Few 'singers' have a catalogue full of songs as great as he does that only sound good when someone else is singing them. OMFG. Like, damn, he writes some really great songs, and then opens his mouth and immediately makes me wish vocoder was popularized 30 years earlier so they could've used it to make it sound like he was singing in English. So yeah, I guess there is one thing I didn't like about Minny.
Sounds like the same marketing bologna we got fed with the Fire crown symbolism. That’s fine though, they can have a star, but not above the badge. That’s just a faux championship. Whatever, it’s not my stupid team. I’ve got enough issues with the Fire!
In a joke that will only be funny to me, I looked up "Hatsune Miku Bob Dylan" and found a single song: Is this what you asked for? Anyway, there must be public art dedicated to Prince. Or maybe even Tom Waits, cause he stayed there for a while and couple of my favorite songs of his are about the area.
FYP Damn, that's a long time to be legitimately creative and not be an oldies act. And, I love his voice doing it's thing. Although the notion of Pavarotti singing Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 is nicely twisted. He's a Duluth guy, never spent much time in the Twin Cities. Time to crush Minnesota nice.
