Penso has been fine to me. We just have dumb players. You can lift your shirt as long as you don't pull it over your head. How many times must that lesson be learned?
Watching Josh Wolff howl and pump his fists makes me sick. I mean, that team sucks, we just suck worse.
Fagundez was offside and making a play on the ball in their second. Most leagues that gets called back.
No problem with you ... at all --BUUUUUTTTT those are sour grapes. We lost because we have brain dead players who make brain dead plays at key moments.
"A player must be cautioned for removing the shirt or covering the head with the shirt." But also: "Players must not reveal undergarments that show political, religious, personal slogans, statements or images, or advertising..." I don't care if he was honoring his deceased grandmother (what twitter is saying). It was inexcusably selfish.
Um, no. He didn't touch the ball, that's the only thing that matters unless he interferes with an opponent - which he didn't. The guy who did touch the ball was not offside. This is all down to our dumb players and a couple of unfortunate injuries - especially Andy.
The first half was actually enjoyable to watch but for me the season is over. 3 home losses this early? Playoffs gone.
I don't buy that for a second. This game is an anomaly due to the red card. The only thing that should've happened is subs earlier to replace the gassed players. Fountas looked good where he could and seems to understand pressing.
Nah, I'm with Shammy, this team is weak. They'll lose a lot of games from self destructive errors like tonight. The dirty secret is the Canouse/Durkin midfield is too slow and will mostly struggle both in possession and in defense this season. Pines is good for two losses from wtf moments, and if Hamid is fighting it like tonight, forget it.
And I'm pumping the brakes on the Hopkins train. Great debut from a 17 year old, no question, but he is another relatively slow player. Doesn't mean he cant be good and contribute, but his ceiling is lower because of his lack of pace.
You don’t have to buy it, but the numbers are the numbers. We’ve got a culture of losing, a horrendous start to the year and the rest of the East is starting to get its shit together. I am flabbergasted that we’re behind Cincinnati and Charlotte even though it’s early. Those are broken clubs.
Well that sucked. However, I was actually encouraged. We were the better team by far, before the red card. Kamara scored two nice goals. I understand the emotional celebration. Just keep the shirt on and don't get the yellow!! WTF!! Moving Najar to the left created better balance in the attack and this resulted in more chances in the final 1/3 for every one. We created several good scoring opportunities. Keeping Najar out wide allowed him to operate in open space and take on players 1v1. The question will be whether Najar's body can deal with the rigor of running box to box for 90, as a wing back. Unfortunately, tonight suggests that that answer may be no. We will see. Hopefully, the (hamstring?) injury was minor. The press was better organized and spacing between the lines was better than in the past. We created plenty of turnovers off of the press. I also thought that the team did a better job of recognizing when the press was broken, and retreated to regroup into well-structured mid block or low block, rather than continuing to haphazardly chase the ball (seen in previous games). Taxi had some good touches and showed poise in tight spaces. His movement was intelligent on an off of the ball. It is only one appearance, but all signs are that he will have a positive impact. Pines looked much better than last season. His first touch and decision making seemed a better. As in the past, he is still dominant in the box clearing headers. It's one game, but hopefully the trend continues. Overall, we looked much better than 2 weeks ago. We just couldn't hang on a man down for an entire half. On to next week. Vamos!
He seems to make one bad decision after another. He just does not look up or see the field and players around him. Frankly, I have not been impressed from day 1. He is making the same mistakes again and again.
He's good on the ball, but you nailed it, he's a head down player. I don't think you can play the game at this level like that. Back up striker? Maybe, at least he has some pace and maybe won't have Kamara trying to run through him to score so he can take his shirt off.
This franchise is an embarrassment. Everything on the field is bad enough, but to have rain coming through the “roof” is too much. I swear a Jamaican shack in the middle of a category 5 hurricane can keep out water better than this shit they call a roof. Just another reminder that this ownership is pure shit. The front office, the owners, all of them. Total shit.
We have lost 4 games in a row and now have to face New England. This season is rapidly getting out of hand.
Losing to New England would be something. They were sloppy and basically not a functional team but slowly they are gathering momentum. We’ve had a history of handing teams wins and points and goals when they’ve had a deficit. Will we hand New England turnaround points?
I’m a little late to the party because I was watching the Caps hammer Montreal — speaking of teams that won’t be doing much damage in the playoffs. So I’m watching the second half, and I’ve gotta say, Austin really didn’t look particularly dangerous until they scored. Even down a man, I thought we created more. The calls weren’t particularly even, and Kamara’s second yellow was extremely soft. This was a game that we should have won. What stands out to me is the last ten minutes. Austin woke up, and we showed zero mental fortitude. Ten minutes to go, a goal up, and you have every opportunity to manage the game and see it out. But you’ve got to press flank players making crosses, and you have to mark up. We did neither. Samake easily could have been sent off for the stomp on Felipe. Shammy’s right. This team is soft — I bet Taxi is wondering what he’s gotten himself into. The mentality for success just isn’t there. Good teams find a way to win losable games. Things always go wrong. It’s how you manage things when they go bad that separates good teams from bad. This team loses winnable games.
