I can't believe they built 8 stadiums in one country and I have to travel to get to all of them for more than 1 hour .. could they not have built them all side by side right next to the airport
4G only?? I thought Telstra can do it much better man I never thought I would say this, but meanwhile I am really happy I am not going there, this whole situation is nothing but pure irritation. my friends are freaking out, at least those who haven't booked hospitality!
I’m currently here Dropped pin https://goo.gl/maps/yiuBqkquavwuL2y57 Middle of nowhere 4G is pretty good for a Desert Change the google to Satellite and zoom in and I’ll wave at you
send us some cheap gas, we had snow last weekend, with current prices I 'm pretty sure I spent at least two days qatar appartment fee on heating in last week
It is not possible any more to book Sorry mate, but you are just to late. Before the draw it was possible to book accomodation for seven nights when you chose a hospitality ticket of a specific nation for a group match. Now, after you know on which day the specific match takes place, you can only book 4 nights around this date. No big deal, because there are only overprized rooms left for the group stage....
All good I’ve a got a great hotel Dec3-11 already and a 3 bed Apartment in Al Masoura District shared with 2 other people. From Nov20-Dec3. Now I’ll run the gauntlet a little for the last week hopeful a little cheaper in a hotel with much less fans around. Can’t see anyone sticking around without tickets.
Yeah I would not see many more people sticking around after Dec 6-7th to be honest from previous WC / EURO experiences. However, this could be different as if you arrive Dec 8-9th, you can still watch the 7 (8?) most important matches at one place, we will see.
Sorry, I meant 2+ hours round trip. I also expect long queues to that shuttle bus to the subway station. The fact they are unused/new doesn't change a thing, they are still worker dorms in qatar, "a place to crash" for 100usd. For reference, I arrived in Russia for the QF+ and I paid ~120usd in modest hotels in central Moscow, a nice 0 minutes commute. For 120usd a night in Qatar on the final day of the WC I still get a worker dorm 1h+ from the city. Hotels, due to market forces, are built in nice locations, instead of suburbs or residential areas like apartments. Also, it seems most apartments are 2+ bedrooms, so the availability for 1 bedroom apartments is low and prices are high. There are a few 220usd apartments for 2 persons for the final - the problem is they have all been booked already for the rest of the WC. There's no middle offering left. Will there ever be again? We can't possibly know, it's concerning, and the cancellation fee makes matters even worse. Cruise ships are really expensive, starting at 800usd for my dates. Anyway, thank you for being empathetic with other peoples' concerns. I'm sure the locals will have a blast, but I'm getting the feeling it won't be the "WORLD" cup (attendance-wise) the WC was meant to be.
Yeah, I have the same feeling. I will be there, and I will enjoy despite of pick accomodation A or B. But I believe it will be a WC for those who the priority is to attend as much matches as possible, which is great as well. I usually go to 2 matches in a week stay, and what I really enjoy is the atmosphere, to meet people on streets, fun fests, sit and talk while eating and having a few drinks. Stay in a nice place and enjoy my holidays. Hopefully, things will change and we will get more details from FIFA
Iranians are probably the most friendly and welcoming people in the World. Just look at different travel videoes. You walking around in a USA Jersey Would probably mean they Would all invite you to their home and eat Great persian food
change to QAR. anyway the currency is pegged to USD so whereever you change your USD, it will be almost the same
I personally don't have issues with living in accommodation that was previously labor dorms. I would assume 8-10 workers lived in the space that will host up to two people during the World Cup. But $102 for said accommodation is still on the higher side. Pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/BarwaAlBaraha/. You can also Google "Barwa Al Baraha Labour Camp" for pictures posted by the workers themselves. Many of you would have already done that. Again, this is assuming this is from the same cluster of buildings. They look much the same.
For me the place itself was never the problem, it looks nice and the reviews are good. The issue is obviously the location.
For me, it has nothing do with the place itself. It actually looks fine and enough to rest. But the location, it is the worse you can get, in the middle of nowhere I would love the same option and price close to the city. It would be definitely my number 1 choice.
Both are different places far apart. Barwa Barahat Al Janoub, Cluster looks new and is different from Al Baraha
That rules out my theory then. In any case, the rooms look decent enough. In-room TVs would have been great considering there likely will not be many places nearby to catch the games one is not attending. But perhaps there will be a common space with a large TV or two.
Madina Khalifa is a residential district. Most of the area there will be connected to the metro with link buses. It will be closer to the Qatar Foundation stadium. You cant go wrong with that area. If you are asking my opinion, if cost is same, as a strategic location i would pick, Al Sadd, or bin Mahmoud, as they will have the same metro connectivity, but better and more dining options, closer to the FAN zone and chorniche.
My husband and I are interested in the the two England/USA game tickets. As soon as we can figure out how to transfer!
@Mauri It depends on your "Insider" level as USSF's supporters club is a tiered system. If you are a basic member (i.e., free) I'd say you have a next to zero chance. The levels above that are all pay for play starting at $45/year all the way up to $10,000/year which I'd say guarantees you tickets. For the qualifiers it seemed if you paid for the first Circle tier ($500/year) you got tickets. There is no credit any longer for previous caps, it's all money based now, if you pay more you get into a higher tier regardless of how many times you've attended. The tickets are allotted on their "Weighted Random Draw" process, which is explained here: https://ussoccer.app.box.com/v/wc2022insiderwrd They imply that there is no distinction between the Circle tiers but I don't believe that. If someone donates US$10,000 a year to get into the Presidents Circle they're gonna get tickets, and I suppose they should. They used this same system to allocate tickets throughout the WCQ which just finished. Beyond this explanation, they don't give out more information or statistics as I think they are gaming the system in the background. I'm a Circle member but I got lucky and scored a USA TST7 so I won't be participating as I would get both applications cancelled.
Thank you for this great information! Any other thoughts/ideas are welcomed! I check every day for accommodations for 2 people (my husband and I) and have had NO luck yet. At this time, we prefer to not book at the clusters due to how far from the stadiums they are...... Madina Khalifa, I've been trying to book for a few weeks, NO availability for 2 people Bin Mahmoud, has no one bedroom apartments, only 2 bedroom apartments Al Sadd, says "COMING SOON" What can you tell us about Al Dafna 61 Asas West Tower, which is "COMING SOON"
