Yes I really doubt Chris Leitch has the authority to fire Almeyda. Seems likely that decision would have to be made by Fisher himself.

so we have a completely ineffective, useless GM, to go with our underperforming coach and our absentee couldn’t care less owner?

Sounds like just another day in the life of a Quakes fan.

Assuming Leitch doesn't have the power to fire Almeyda, do you think that's Leitch's fault? Like, maybe he could have had the power to hire/fire the coach, but he consciously chose NOT to take that power for himself as a newly-hired GM coming into the job with an existing celebrity coach on a big contract already in place? Maybe we should blame Leitch for the incomplete stadium roof while we're at it...

I have to assume that CL can act in the team’s best interest when it comes to hiring and firing coaches, until there’s a reason to believe otherwise beyond speculation here. CL is the GM, it’s his job and responsibility. If he can’t, he’s just as big a lame duck as Almeyda this year and simply a useless part of a pointless exercise and being set up to fail by his puppet master.

Oh really, does every other GM in MLS have the power to hire/fire coaches, or are there other possible organizational charts?

It’s my understanding that this authority typically resides with the GM. But there could be other organizational charts, I’m prepared to leave open that possibility.

I actually have a bit of a contrarian view. I am not in favor of firing Almeyda and I think we have a better roster this year. The team is not playing all that badly - it's improving in general. This game we had a higher xG, more shots, etc. We've been working on offensive flow and it's gotten better. We're trying to play the right way - a positive attacking game - just need to continue to attack faster and more aggressively.

As for the roster, Gregus is 2nd in MLS in assists, is great on dead ball service, and plays good long balls in midfield in general, Monteiro doesn't always have the bite to his attack that I'd like to see but man he battles hard all game. Jebo is starting to get his mojo back and we'll have him for the full year. Calvo's the one miss I think - I'd like to see him be a sort of "attacking CB" sub when you need a goal but not starting. And we've got some good young players. I think Bouda is already an upgrade to Fierro and Haji, and Niko is an upgrade to Skahan.

We've run into some hard luck with injuries, especially Nathan and now Chofis. If Matias can hold the locker room together and they keep trying to play the right way and keep improving we're going to turn things around, at least to some extent.

I think it would very unwise for CL to fire MA and make himself interim coach. I understand you're blaming MA for this horrible season, but replacing Calvo with Agree and Gregus (or whatever midfielder you have in mind) with Judson might not result in a magical turnaround. If things don't get better will the fans be happy and satisfied that MA was fired? I don't think so, they will have forgotten MA and will be looking for the next scapegoat. CL shouldn't put himself in that position (not that I think he would).

Yeah, what GM is going to fire a coach without the owner's consent when doing so would cost the owner a seven figure hit.

Like Jazzy said, we are doing better offensively, but, absolute crap on the defensive side.

But it wouldn't really be a 7-figure hit for Fish. It's sunk cost - he's going to pay it whether or not Almeyda stays. If CL or Covelo became head coach it would be very little $ impact to Fish. The real complication may be the assistant coaching situation, as I've pointed out before. Would Matias's posse stick around and be 100% on board if Matias got fired? And replacing the whole coaching staff would be very disruptive (vs. just replacing head coach).

Is it ridiculous to expect a GM to be able to convince his owner to act in the team’s best interest, even if a short term financial hit is involved? Teams make these kind of decisions all the time.

Yeah, I guess if you don't replace him (and his cronies) with a coach (or coaches) from the outside there wouldn't be a big hit, but, I don't see the GM making that decision with the owner's blessing.

Probably true, but I actually don't believe CL wants to replace MA. I think he wants to try to work with him and make the best of it. Very likely MA's last year though.

Unlike many or most apps, the NBC Sports App is also available to download to a computer.

Also, I have learned that apps have varying abilities at de-credentialing when the streaming packages that authorize service expire.

I have bad luck with Earthquakes' sponsors. I had a horror show experience with PayPal so I fired them. I bought a Roku in late October and it was fried by mid-February. I eventually got a warranty replacement, but it took about three weeks because of emails that I never received and because Roku lost my returned device for a week until I gave them the tracking information from the postage that I had to pay for. Also, Roku has no tech support. They send you to a message board, similar to this one.

Of course it's not ridiculous I would expect that's how it would work.

I'm really surprised CL hasn't said something to the effect that they're looking to bring in some reinforcements in the summer. That was always Jesse's standard thing to say.

The idea that nothing is going to change is hard to stomach.

Marcinkowski did not exactly cover himself in glory tonight. If he gives us even average MLS goalkeeping (not a high bar), and we might get all three points tonight.

This club has so many other problems I think JT flys under the radar. He's good enough not to be the focal point of change that's needed.

He's probably the least happy with the Calvo transaction.
