Wow - just wow! I remember this; Diego was training himself more than the players, lol. There was a video where he is taking free kick after free kick - and of course, nailing them all.
A little bit off topic, since he’s retired already - but was watching Aguero’s Man City highlights. Have seen almost all previously, but what a player. To me, with what he showed, he was still really underrated. He should probably be considered the greatest Premier League player ever (perhaps with Henry). It seems like he never got the hype as much as he deserved. For us, was a little unlucky with injuries. One of our greatest talents ever.
To be fair, being underrated actually applies to everyone in Messi-CR era. I mean 16 years into his pro career, Messi's still winning major thropy and Balon D'or. Aguero actually hugely popular in EPL which is most popular league on the planet. He has second highest goal ratio in EPL history behind only Thierry Henry, while also scores the most famous goal in EPL history . In National team , the fans always refers to Batistuta and Crespo , sometimes they forgot Aguero is third highest goal scorer in NT. 41 goals + 19 assists for Argentina is a huge stats in any era except Messi era.
The game against Venezuela should be a big warning for Scaloni. Tucu missing 3 sitters in zero-preasure game... now imagine a WC game...
Parades had the same issue since start of the season caused him to miss so many games he needs to rest fully and treat it. Psg end of season is an absolute waste of time anyway
Simeone has Atletico playing with 5 at the back plus an extra RB in midfield. De Paul and Correa on the bench. First 20 minutes has all been played in and around the Atletico box lol.
Seem like Cholo is trying to save RDP energy for second leg like in round 16 againts United. Stupid as it sounds, thats the only explaination I could come up with other than Cholo being Cholo, park the bus at all cost. City only has 1 goal lead going into Atletico's home, there's a chance they might crumble like PSG. Afterall, we're talking about team without CL history.
Yet another great game from Enzo Fernandez the other day, with a goal included.. He had hit the crossbar with a long range shot shortly before and gave some great through passes. He really is becoming quite a complete midfielder and, more importantly, is putting in very consistent performances... Santi Simon also got his first professional goal in the same match:
I think you meant to reply that for paredes. Add to that neymar constant injury and I think there is a problem Paredes will need surgery fk
I was just making a joke, albeit not a good one… You keep referring De Paul as Di Paul. So, I called Di Maria, De Maria…
I watched that match and Lautaro was indeed missing in action. He did nothing for the match. But something did stand out. Inter were awarded a penalty and Lautaro did not take it. Inter missed but were given a second chance because of encroachment. Again, Lautaro shied away. We can’t have our #9 shying away in big moments. Yes, he’s score for us in penalties but this is becoming a bad habit. He also likes to go to the goalies right. This summer, he needs to work on his penalties and try to go to to goalies left for a change.
As Loco said Simon (caught my eye in the couple of matches I have managed to see River play this season) is one for the future but I would readily call up Enzo to the seleccion and on his current form take him to the Mundial if only for the experience. Kun is the best striker the PL has seen. As usual the hype is around Kane obviously because he is English and Henry because he was an arrogant so and so unlike our Kun. No one can beat him in the ratio of minutes per goals. His WC history was marred by an appalling coach in 2010, injury in 2014 and another appalling coaching display in 2018 where he still managed two goals. Hopefullu his offspring have inherited his and grandad's genes.
That's Ray Houghton scorer of that goal for Ireland against Italy at the Giants stadium in 1994/ Diego was the greatest player to set foot on the pitch but how he managed to coach a seleccion at a WC is unbelievable. How he chose Ariel Garce over Il Trattore the legend that is JZ4 is a disgrace not to mention leaving out Samuel and Cambiasso. Shameful selections. And playing Otamendi in one of his very first games for the seleccion at rightback where he had never played before in a QF. The first goal came from a cross in that area. The Germans were mediocre as usual and managed to take full advantage. Hope they go out in the group stages again. Hilarious to see them dumped out in the group stage in Russia. Not very welcome over there.
I think I will send a letter to Ezeiza. Dear Senor Scaloni. I humbly suggest for the good of all fans of the seleccion that you kindly leave Franco, Joaquin and German at home. Please consider Marcos Senesi , Facundo Medina and Enzo Fernandez instead. We want to win this thing.
To me , its pretty obvious that his selection is based on personality that fit him not quality. He picked all players that will say yes to him even if that player is a forward and being told to play as GK, because they idolize him and will never question anything he says. Guys like Zanetti & Riquelme aint fall in that category even if they idolize him aswell as a player. Veron and Samuel played 1 or 2 games at group stages and then they just disappeared at KO stage due to "phantom" injury. There's never an explaination what injury or whatever, they must have been advise him something and he dropped them right away.
There's one small but important contribution from Kun in latest Copa, that his assist for Messi actually helped Messi to win the golden boots.
