The amount of effort I went through to find out who this was is ridiculous lol. That being said, I'm not that excited about Bielsa anymore. Sure he's an innovator, but I'd rather go for one of his disciples like Matias Almeyda who's been successful in Mexico.
In all seriousness, IF Tata gets the boot who from the league can you guys actually see get the NT coaching gig or who do you want from the league? Only two guys come to mind for me, Nico Larcamon from Puebla or Andres Lillini from Pumad. Another good possibility is Jimmy Lozano So as long as it’s not Tuca or the typical old dinosaurs that are always recycled
If he stays until the WC we are in for some more frustrating times. Why did he wait until the 80th minute for subs when it was clear some players were in really bad form. And only 2 subs. When Mexico plays a more cohesive and organized team se van a llevar una goleada
I actually wouldn't mind Tuca if he agreed to take the job. Out of any foreigner he at least knows the environment and culture very well.
If I remember correctly, the time he came in he called a bunch of HIS players that had no business ion the team. Sure he helped out but long term I don't think he's the option. He's an old dinosaur imo.
You need to keep in mind that long term development and planning was never his goal (nor should had it been). And even then - I recall that he fielded a bunch of youngsters over a series of friendlies. Ultimately he came through when it was needed (gold cup playoff) and booked us a ticket to the last confederations cup.
Once this WC cycle is done, I think Mexico should hire Lozano as the U23 team and him appeared to have good chemistry. If for some reason Tata should get the boot before the WC, the interim coach would most likely get kicked out before 2026.
Anyone we bring this close to WC will bring in their players and I bet most of us will not be happy. When a coach has a short time to work with a team, he will go with what he knows best and not look back. Getting another Coach at this point I think hurts Mexico more than helps us, especially long term. I'm not happy with Tata, but bringing in someone now don't think will help us.
I also think we're in that weird transition where all our best players are super old and there's really no one in between them and the promising youngsters. Plus we've always sucked at finishing. That's probably the biggest issue.
