    Just to once again HL what state our youth development is in:

    The U21s play tomorrow. Nicolato called up 27 players. 15 of the players play in Serie B, 12 play in Serie A. Most of the ones in A don’t even start regularly for their clubs. Till this changes we’ll always be chasing our tails

    the quality of this forum has roughly matched the fortunes and trajectory of the NT since about 2008.

    I congratulate North Macedonia, but the World Cup won't be the same without Italy.

    To add some context to what @totti fan said.

    What's unfolding in Mariupul has been covered in the news a lot in Greece. Mariupul has a big Greek settlement dating back to the 18th century. In fact the name Mariupul comes from Greek. Maria is a hellenized take on the name Miriam. Pul refers to poli, which means city in Greek. Just like Istanbul (Constantinople before), Napoli (new city, nea poli), etc.

    What's honestly happening there doesn't get properly covered in most Western media. These diaspora Greeks, much like other non-Ukrainians in Mariupul, are suffering mostly at the hands of the Ukrainians. Some of these Ukrainians are in fact Nazis, namely the Aidar and Avoz battalions. They are hiding in civilian homes and holding civilians hostage while the Russian military lays siege to the city. In other words, they are using these people as human shields. This is a common tactic in war.

    There is some truth to how the Russians are trying to defeat these Nazis and free some of these people; however, the Russian side has exaggerated this Nazi threat. Also the Russians aren't much better from the Ukrainians. Both countries have policies to force these locals caught in between to pick sides. Both countries use intimidation to achieve that goal. It's a horrible situation, but again this is what war is often like.

    I was intrigued as to how such a well integrated team that I watched 9 months ago came to this and thought I'd read why the people who know the team best thought so.

    Italy is eliminated from two World Cup's in a row.

    Roberto Mancini has a contract until 2026 but looking at him walk off the field, I think he is done.

    Aleksandar Trajkovski played for Palermo from 2015–2019 and today he scores the goal that eliminated Italy in that same town!

    How ironic!

    No one needs to get sal'd.

    @totti fan

    There's another place and time for political talk. Let's leave it for now.

    Congrats to North Macedonia. Italy should come back from this better stronger, just like they proved at the Euros after missing out on 2018.
